dat2kman Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 A quantity ( of SR20DET and RB20DET five speed boxes, with or without their bellhousings. Some are only suitable for Close Ratio gearset conversion, others are ready to use, with std ratios. Priced from $150 Quote
600Z Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Hi dat2kman, I take it these will fit in the 260Z's ? Justin. Quote
dat2kman Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 Once you modify the stock 260Z bellhousing, so that the SR/RB box fits into it, Rear mount needs altering, and if you use the RB box, you retain the stock 260Z tailshaft. Quote
600Z Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Is there much benefit in changing from a late 260z 5speed? Quote
dat2kman Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 Is there much benefit in changing from a late 260z 5speed? Bigger mainshaft, wider gears, thicker 1-2 selector rod, stronger selectors. Built to handle Nissans newer Turbo engines. Quote
C.A.R. Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 (edited) Is there much benefit in changing from a late 260z 5speed? Depends... Bigger mainshaft, wider gears, thicker 1-2 selector rod, stronger selectors. Built to handle Nissans newer Turbo engines. Ratio's are crap compaired to the close ratio 260Z gearbox's though If you are making over 300hp / 250ft/lbs of torque, the later 71C box's are the go. Edited June 3, 2016 by Lurch ™ Quote
600Z Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Thanks guys, I will have to check what the gearbox is that is in it, it's a 77 260z 2+2. Quote
Riceburner Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Jason, do you have any spare shifters, shifter plate and the little clips/spacers to go with it? I've got a spare SR20 box without any of the shifter parts on the rear casing. Quote

Sorry Gareth, those bits, and L series Bells are the items I am low on Have a hunt around on some of the drift type forums, or visit some Hi/Po workshops, as these boxes, once blown to smthereens, by aforesaid drift types, just get binned. Bear in mind there are slightdifferences between RB and SR shifter flat mount plates, make sure youget correct to suit your box. Quote
Gtv240z Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Hi , Just wondering if I can pick your brain? I had a S14 silvia gearbox fitted with an RB gearbox extension housing pieced together and mounted to my L series bell housing so that overall length of the gearbox was the same as the original and retained the original tailshaft. If i had gone with complete S14 gearbox on the L bellhousing I would need to shorten my tailshaft. My question is : I had to re do the rear gearbox mount to fit my hybrid gearbox which is approximately 35mm further back towards the diff, Would the Silvia gearbox mount to this or is the distance different again? Thanks, Craig Quote

Gtv240z Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Same position Craig. Thanks for the info! This modified mount and shifter will most likely be up for sale this week if anyone is interested. I tried my best to make it factory looking Quote
