VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Previous owner decided to remove the rear hatch seals and as a result you can't have the windows up without the exhaust gasses sneaking in. Anybody found a good way to replace this? Thanks! Quote
gilltech Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) There's a thin L-shaped seal that fits around / encloses the metal flange shown in your photo, missing in your instance. They were part of a complete seal set I purchased a while back; but presumably they are available separately. Have you tried one of the American suppliers? VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 Have gone through the z store to try and find it! Couldn't locate it so have shot them an email. Thanks! Quote
VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 Didn't even notice the flange seal! Quote
oldmates260z Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I had issues with fumes coming in and I just added the below self adhesive from Clark rubber straight on top of the existing seal....problem gone VintageNissanEnthusiast 1 Quote
ilbert Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I did same - ran it around the underside of the hatch. Worked well for a while. I think the main issue is the larger inner seal. Quote
gilltech Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) Yes that missing outer seal doesn't continue around the lower portion of the hatch, so wouldn't mitigate exhaust gases, it's for added weather-sealing. Best is to install a new soft & pliable hatch seal around the opening, making sure it's making full contact right around the hatch. Edited March 24, 2016 by gilltech VintageNissanEnthusiast 1 Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted March 24, 2016 Moderators Posted March 24, 2016 Hi Fumes in the cabin can be caused by missing or perished plugs in boot floor, near the taillights. Just a thought Cheers PB VintageNissanEnthusiast 1 Quote

Would this be the one? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic03a10/34-1140A Also the outer seal would be ... http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic03a10/34-1142 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic03a10/34-1143 Also will have a squiz at the plugs in the boot floor Peter cheers! gilltech Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 No pictures given but by the descriptions yes. They say to check the floor plugs as you noted & also the taillight gaskets. I've never had a problem with exhaust fumes on mine which still has it's original seals but from the rubbed off paint around the underside of the hatch I can see that it seals all around, so that's one way of inspecting. There is a little bit of adjustment to be had in the hatch panel itself. VintageNissanEnthusiast 1 Quote
