jock Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 For $10k, you want a zed with how much rust?. Be prepared to pay at least double want you expect and some, and there in lies the problem, why would you spend thousands more on modifying a zed only to find it is worthless when it sells, keep it close to original, even a modded zed with L series is worth good money, IMHO an RB26 is way to snappy for a chassis like this, better off just buying a good GTR, will cost a whole lot less, this I do know. CroS13 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 if you find a 240z that is under 10k, chances are it well on its way to being returned to the earth, double your budget, atleast.Look for a 260z, or better yet, you might be able to find a 2+2 in your budget. Be warned, any 2+2 you find under 10k will not have been restored, if its painted expect a bog and flog job. Even honest and decent 2+2's are creeping up to the 15-20k mark now. I guarantee if a owner spent the coin and time to restore the body of a 2+2, they wouldn't be letting it go for under 10k, clean or properly restored body's are like gold. Rudi gav240z 1 Quote

Worthless is a tad over the top. Nothing is irreversible if you don't go cutting around. And trust me, an RB in a z is much more rewarding than in a skyline. At the end of the day a car should be built for its owners needs and wants. Quote

It's only when you've owned 1 and experienced rust that you finally understand this. Newbies all jump in like lemmings to the slaughter of the rust monster. "It's only got a little bit of rust" they say to themselves when buying their first S30z. . Quote

Even a car that presents with no or little rust will have rust. I started out looking for a car like this. Ended up paying more and got more rust. But it has been an adventure and I have really just started. Hope you are lucky and find what your are looking for. Jeff Quote
gilltech Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) " Looking for any project 240's out there! Preferably: Under 10k Limited rust Complete Interior " Define 'limited'... I don't wish to rain on your parade & squash your enthusiasm but join the queue of every man & his dog... The years are passing & Zeds are getting fewer & fewer, not enough to go around, so prices are rising accordingly. Most people know what they've got when it's time to sell. Budget more realistically for 20-25K & find a tidy one & do your transplant if you must, try & ensure that it's reversible if you want to maintain maximum value. Any project car under 10K will be so riddled with rust & so bodged up & stuff missing you'll spend years on the body shell alone, before you even get to the engine transplant. Administrators gav240z Posted January 20, 2016 Administrators Posted January 20, 2016 It wasn't long ago you could get a decent 240z for around $10k. https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2013-shannons-sydney-autumn-classic-auction/VE71Q44396A66CP1/ https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2010-shannons-melbourne-autumn-classic-auction/AQ5V50DE7H6151OR/ https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2007-shannons-melbourne-winter-classic-auction/EE006E9ZK4833SIE/ https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2010-shannons-melbourne-winter-classic-auction/G6IC56C53DWJA4MF/ https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2011-shannons-melbourne-winter-classic-auction/NT0F477B186BVO26/ However a combination of things have all conspired against buyers to start putting S30z's out of reach. It's not impossible to find a bargain, but anything under $10k is going to have it's fair share of rust issues. Quote
d3c0y Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I expected more outcries for him wanting to do an RB26DETT conversion. Quote
