Hey guys selling my Series 2 bonnet with vents bonnet needs a bit more prep work before colour can be laid looking around $250 Ono

 

And also I have a rebuilt 280 5 speed looking chasing $1000 as that's what it cost me all up. Never been fitted just sits in the shed

Yeah front needs a bit more prep where rust had been cut out. But it's priced accordingly

so are the vented more desirable than the slick bonnets? i thought it was the other way round....?

Vented good for summer runs I think.

Hmm i thought vented was more desirable as they are normally harder to find due to limited years they were released. I picked up my spare bonnet for free (non vented) and the spare vented bonnet I had I ended up selling for around $500 with non perfect vents and it needed work as well. Have the original vented bonnet with perfect vents sitting in the shed as it won't be used on this car build.

Personal preference, but I prefer the non-fluted hoods and I haven't been able to find a good 1 for a while. I come across the vented ones more often it would seem.

 

The flutes make the hood look shorter and it ruins the clean lines of the long bonnet in my opinion. Then there is the design of the flutes which remind me of those things you see in people's houses when they have ducted heating... Too late 70s for me, and I prefer 60s car design attributes, which means less plastic and more metal shaping.

 

Since I haven't found a good rust free standard bonnet I think I'll patch up my flutes to make my fluted bonnet non-fluted. For now I'm happy to have vented ones as the more desirable.

 

Much easier to vent the inspection flaps and change them over if you get sick of them.
