74zzz Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Im positive i have seen these for sale somewhere recently but given i am in the market are these familiar to anyone? haven't heard much about sk carbs but have heard bad things about oer http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/archerfield/engine-engine-parts-transmission/datsun-240z-260z-240k-l-24-26-28-sk-triple-webers-solex-jdm/1092015680 guidance anyone? luvemfast Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I have no experience with SK. So no help from me. Sorry But it doesn't say what size they are, unless I missed it. Quote
74zzz Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 no he said they are between 40/45 im assuming 44 but having trouble finding what sizes were made....... doesn't sound like he knows a lot about them really which is a worry Quote
dat2kman Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 They are advertised on some Datsun facebook pages, seller has been asked what size, but no response, the sual facebook frivolity then ensues,,,, They do look rather attractive, jets and other tuning bits are not easy to source, Quote
24TZ Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Aren't the Jets and parts a mixture of Mikuni and webber? I remember reading that somewhere Quote
phillay Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 one of the garage san maru guys have a set on the red z. parts took some time to procure for rebuild Quote
C.A.R. Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Solex Mikuni > SK > OER SK uses Solex Mukini parts, so yes parts 'can' be more dificult to procure. Lou Mondello has a good range of Solex Mikuni parts on the shelf & he can tune them as well. Quote

brent012 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Group buy from here? http://jlrf.en.alibaba.com/ ProCarb on ebay sell FAJS carbs. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TRIPLE-40-DCOE-NISSAN-DATSUN-6CYL-L24-L26-240Z-SUIT-WEBER-CARBY-PACKAGE-CARBIE-/151674241040?hash=item23507d4010 Ironically, on some VW forum I think I remember them being compared favourably to the US/Chinese Webers. The Weber performance site has a warning about them though: http://www.weberperformance.com.au/information.php?info_id=14 Quote

d3c0y Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 one of the garage san maru guys have a set on the red z. parts took some time to procure for rebuild This is that exact set of carbs. They went from the red car to the purple car and then they were part of a deal for an L28ET. Quote
74zzz Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) So there was a reason you parted with them then or just wanted an upgrade? Thought I had seen them before the black fet manifold was familiar Edited October 14, 2015 by 74zzz Quote

d3c0y Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 So there was a reason you parted with them then or just wanted an upgrade? Thought I had seen them before the black fet manifold was familiar Nothing wrong with them, Doug just wanted an L28 turbo and they were part of the trade. And since he was getting a complete EFI motor had no use for them any more. One of the banjos fittings is too small and needs to replaced (the carb shop only had that size on them at the time) and that's it. If you message Garage San Maru on facebook and attention it to Matt he will be able to tell you any details you want, including which banjo needs replacing. Quote
74zzz Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 i f'd about too long they sold within a few hours........... oh well Quote
260DET Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 So you blokes are sure that SK and FAJS are not made in the same factory using the same equipment? Given the niche product aspect it would be a bit surprising if two separate factories went to the considerable expense of individually tooling up to make these. Quote
C.A.R. Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) So you blokes are sure that SK and FAJS are not made in the same factory using the same equipment? Given the niche product aspect it would be a bit surprising if two separate factories went to the considerable expense of individually tooling up to make these. Impossible as SK are not made anymore. It's 'possible' that OER are made in the same factory as these 'FAJS cars, but who knows... And does it really matter... Edited October 16, 2015 by Lurch ™ Quote
