Recently purchased my dream z. It came with trumpets on the carbs. I had a long 25 hour drive ahead of me so I put air filters on. The car loses power uphill (struggles to go 100) then it wont get the power back until I turn the car off and on again. I drove the car with the trumpets for abit but didn't go up any hills. Think they need to be tuned in with the new filters? Triple dellorto 40s btw. Cheers

Are you running points or elect distributor?

If points, I would check the points capacitor - as it sounds electrical to me.

If elect distributor, I can't offer any advice, sorry.

Sounds like fuel to me, what sort of fuel pump are you running? If its an electric one and you have blocked filters it could cause it by not keeping up to the fuel demand. Apart from your main filter you could check the fuel filters on each carburettor that's inside the fuel inlet fitting and around the banjo bolt that holds it onto the top of the carburettor.

using shorts socks? i'd say they're getting sucked into trumpets and sufficating the motor.

Try pulling them forward and zip tie down.
