luvemfast Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Looking at changing to a Patrol master cylinder. Asked some brake places to copy the current lines from brake distribution block to where they'll actually be. But they don't really want to do it. So was thinking I could just do it myself, if I had the right tools. Anyone got some, local to eastern suburbs Melbourne, that I could borrow? Thanks, Simon Quote
reverendzed Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 My son Sam, know some brake guys who will make anything up for him - let me know if that helps and I'll put you in contact. Cheers, Quote
44014 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Any decent brake place can make hard lines? What is wrong with your factory ones? Quote
luvemfast Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 I want to do the swap at home. Not in a shop. Which means it has to be done beforehand. So measurements and thinking need to be done. Been to 2 brake places and they both only want to do straight pipes. Quote
dat2kman Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Consider buying a double flare pipe making kit? And steel bundy tubing? Bit f an overkill jst to do a couple of lines though. Quote
luvemfast Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 You've read my mind there Jason. Can buy some tooling, pipe and nuts for about about $60. Quote

Like literally just bent them to swap them front to rear? Quote
luvemfast Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 I'll look into that Doug, but don't think it'll fit. Quote
44014 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 My brake lines bent quite easy was only a matter of a few minutes massaging them to fit and look tidy? Maybe your brake lines are different? Quote
Roberto Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 If you are not too concerned about originality, you could go with flexible lines, like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-240Z-280Z-New-Brake-Master-Hard-Line-Replacement-Stainless-Hoses-/151621495520?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item234d586ae0&vxp=mtr Quote
pauly_adams Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 just go to supercheap they have everything you need apart from the hard line Quote

Whilst convenient wouldn't it have a change in pedal feel due to the slight expansion of hose under pressure? Quote
aircobra Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 where can i source the line from and how much will i need ( allowing for a couple of mistakes). and the nuts, which i think i'll need about 20 of Quote

Personally I just take my required measurements to a brake specialist and he makes up the required lengths for me. Cheers PB Quote
