Hi,

I am a new member with a new ZED (to me anyway) and I was hoping someone could tell me what was the last 240Z chassis number registered in Australia, and the last Chassis number made.

In RHD export markets (ie EU, NZ, AU and other parts of the pacific) the last chassis number going by the parts catalogue (so I can't confirm if this is accurate but it is a Nissan book) shows

HS30 101537

as the last production number/chassis number but how this relates to the AU market who knows as these figures were for all RHD export markets as stated above.

Hey NZeder,

I would not trust that Nissan book as my 240 is 102195.

Cool thanks for that - wow yours must be getting close to one of the last 240z.

Thanks for the replies, my car is 103634, engine no: L24189527, so it seems like it is near the end of the line, and yes, I did buy it on Ebay after some haggling with the owner. Still waiting for it to arrive, so hopefully there are no nasty surprises.

Weird. I saw that car advertised for sale in Sydney for $5500, and the ad is posted after the car had sold on ebay.

The more I look at it the more it looks like a scam. The photos are the ones from ebay, but have been cropped/edited to remove the ebay watermark. He's even offering to ship it at his expense. Definitely a scam.

Here's a quot of the ad - I'm reporting it, as it's definitely a scam attempt, so it may be gone by the time you read this.

EDIT: I decided not to report it yet, as I read that you haven't received the car yet, so in case something shifty is going on, it's still there as evidence, if you need it  (eg to contact the seller (or have the police contact the seller) to get his email address/details, incase there is something dodgey going on).

Hope is just a scam attempt, and your car in safely on its way to you. I'd be ringing the transport company you are using and making sure they still have the car for peace of mind. Then ringing the Sydney police to dob in the scammer.

Personally I'd never pay for a car through ebay, it's cheap enoiugh these days just jump on a plane and pay for it when you pick it up, still put it on a truck and fly back

Thanks guys, but I did notice the scam ad, and its not the first time it has happened to me. I bought another car on Ebay last year and the same thing happend. They are easy to pick, as they say in the classics...you get what you pay for.

My car is now in Melbourne, according to the trucking company, and hopefully will be delivered tomorrow...I'll keep you informed.

Well guys, it arrived on time, and very much as I expected it to be. Better in some areas, but no real surprises (bad ones). I still have to RWC and register it, so I only took it for a little run round the block (a few times) to get the feel of it. Boy have cars changed in the last 35 years.

I can see a few things that need some attention. The choke doesn't work and the exhaust is too loud in the car, it needs electronic ignition etc etc, and some of the wiring is a little sus, but all in all I am pretty pleased with it.

Had to leave her in the garage, since its Christmas eve and there are home duties to perform, but once the festivities are over I can see me spending many hours tinkering.

All the best to everyone, have a happy and safe holiday.
