420BRB Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 compliance for 240z in NSW Hi looking into getting me vehicle complied. it is from california I have changed the headlights, seat belts and tail lights anything else i should look out for? Also any suggestions on where to go? Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted December 3, 2014 Moderators Posted December 3, 2014 Gidday That is probably the big items sorted. BUT the decision sits with the AUVIS (Blueslip) inspector. I would look up who the local inspectors are and have a chat to them. If you haven't already have a look at the Services NSW website. http://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-register-personally-imported-vehicle Look forward to seeing it in the road. Cheers PB Quote
420BRB Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Does everyones car here have a import plate ? Reading this article am I right to say I wont need one? I have a 73 datsun http://www.australiatrade.com.au/Shipping/Import/Vehicles/FedRoadSafety.htm Quote
420BRB Posted December 12, 2014 Author Posted December 12, 2014 What would the requirements for that be? In regards to compliance plate. Anyone here doesnt have a compliance plate but still registered under the L02 rule? (NSW REGO) Quote
Yo-Yo Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Hi mate, Definitely recommend giving Kreative Enterprises a ring. They complied my JDM s30z & are familiar with our cars. http://www.kreativeengineering.com.au/ The owner is a top bloke & straight forward no nonsense kind of guy. My car didn't need an import plate (1976 build if that helps) & I have full road rego. I do have a list of all the items checked for compliance but I'm overseas at the moment & not back until January. Sounds like you covered off the main things already. For NSW rego you'll need to also get a weighbridge ticket + blueslip once you have compliance papers signed off as it's imported Windscreen wipers need to be functioning & both washer jets have to be functional not just one or the other, this is for blueslip but not sure about the engineer side of things Good luck! 260DET Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 So the windscreen wipers don't have to be changed to suit the usual RHD configuration? Because that is not a simple job. Quote
Six_Shooter Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 So the windscreen wipers don't have to be changed to suit the usual RHD configuration? Because that is not a simple job. Seeing as the car is from California, I would assume that it is LHD (nothing I see here states otherwise), so the wipers would be best to be in a LHD configuration... Quote

The wipers need to be configured to suit drive postition. If you change the car from LHD to RHD you would need to also change them. Quote

420BRB Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 correction , import approval papers say its a 1974 240z? hmmm Quote
gilltech Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 import approval papers say its a 1974 240z? Is that a typo or was the car first registered in '74 - could have been left over stock, the 260s wouldn't have arrived in show rooms until Sept '73 at the earliest. Quote
420BRB Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 had a look over it again, not a typo year - 1974 make -DATSUN model - 240Z Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 had a look over it again, not a typo year - 1974 make -DATSUN model - 240Z What year is on the plate in the door jamb? eg: http://www.sonic.net/~hrwillis/ID_plate.JPG Quote
Riceburner Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 What's the chassis number? My 'old girl' has 11/73 on the compliance plate. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 8, 2015 Administrators Posted January 8, 2015 I'll bet $5 it isn't a 74. No such thing. It is a 73. As Mr Camo said what is on the plate in the door jamb? If it has a chassis number starting in HLS30 it is a 240z and only ran up until 73. If it is RLS30 it is a 260z and started in 74 . North America only got 260z for 1 year. 75 saw 280z with those bloody big bumpers and fuel injection. Quote

Unless your car is a north american market LHD import it won't matter what your chassis number is compared to his. They ran in parallel. eg. HS30-00501 and HLS30-00501 are 2 different cars built in different years and sent to different countries. Original engine numbers are a better indicator of production date when comparing different types of (G)(H/R)(L)S30 Datsun/Nissan (Fairlady)(240/260/280)Z Quote

The USA have this weird system, where by if a car is build from, say 10/2000 to 9/2001 its called a 2001 model (even though it came out in 2000). So if the car was a 11/1973 240Z, built in 1973, it could still be called a 1974 240Z under their silly "model year" shenanigans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_year I'll take that $5 Gav Quote

My 240z is only just short of being complied in 74, so I was thinking with the lager market and higher demand perhaps there was a back log or delivery delays resulting in the later compliance date.
