Administrators gav240z Posted September 28, 2014 Administrators Posted September 28, 2014 Hi Guys, I've been thinking about selling these for a while and going with something a little more 'period' looking. Only problem is, I don't know what model of Recaro seat they are and I'm not sure what they're worth? Can anyone tell me what I should expect to get for them if I put them on eBay or Gumtree? If anyone might be interested in them, they fit well in a S30z with the correct mounts/rails they would not touch the door. I made a bracket that adapts to the standard runners to fit them, but I don't want to sell these as I don't feel they are well made / strong enough (I made these before I could weld). So I'd rather sell them as basic seats. (not sure I still have the runners pictured in the photos above). I assume not because I haven't seen them anywhere in the garage at my parents place. I have seen a lot of S30z designed seat mounts to suit Recaro seats on Yahoo! Auctions Japan, they are about $200. However as I'm not sure what make / model of Recaro seat they are I've not bothered to order them. They do recline so would work in a 2+2 also as you could tilt them forward enough to get people in the back. They do sit a bit higher than stock, but I'm not sure if that's also compounded by the fact that the originals in mine were pretty flogged out in the lower foam section. There is some sun fading UV damage - mostly on the passenger side lower portion of the seat. So instead of a dark black you can see an almost purple hue to it. However it's not that obvious. It is my understanding they came out of a Porsche 911 before I got them. They are far more supportive and comfortable than the OEM ones I pulled out, but I'm either going to re-trim the originals or replace with 'Datsun Bucket' style seats. Which I imagine will be infinitely less comfortable and will probably annoy my g/f no end Quote
mossy Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 They look like recaro SR series seats to me. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 28, 2014 Author Administrators Posted September 28, 2014 Thanks Mark. By the way how do you find those seats in your S30z now that you've had them a while? And how did you mount them, did you put them on stock rails? Quote
mossy Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I've only done 1 drive in them Gav and they weren't as comfortable as the recaro pole positions but they weren't uncomfortable by any means, although it does help if your skinny and have narrow hips! I mounted them directly to the factory floor brackets same as I did for the recaros, I probably could have mounted them to the factory rails but I think it would have me sitting too high. Quote
chris240 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Sheeez, I swear that in the 70s the average bloke weighed 65kg and had no arse. Id have to lose 20kg to squeeze into those seats ! ....anyone ever sat in the front velour seat of an original VH-SLE commodore ? Now that was a seat Quote
benny Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Agree with mossy definitely look like SR seats Quote
Retro Z Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 They look to be sr2. I had similar seats in my old lancer evo 2 and one in my 32 gtr and similar to my friends type r integra from back in the day. I have a suspicion they are replica's? All the recaros that ive seen that look similar to yours all had the recliner button under the shoulder bolster. I could be wrong though. Quote
phillay Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 they look like replicas of SR Recaro, check the adjustments knobs if they have the recaro logos, and made in germany etc. the replicas won't have those details. Check the bottom of the rails there should be serials of some sort. Take a pic of the bottom side of the seat. The fabric looks poor from the photo but it could be light etc. I hope I'm wrong. Quote
dat240z Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 To be fair, he did state they were starting to fade and are not brand new. There are some hard to pick recaros fakes on ebay atm for what its worth Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 29, 2014 Author Administrators Posted September 29, 2014 Ok guys, I'll take the seats out and take some photos of them for reference. They are in Melbourne (I'm in Sydney) but I'll be down there soon. I'll probably install the stock seats again and leave these out anyway, if they are fakes it's just another reason to get rid of them. The person I bought them off originally is someone I no longer trust, so if they are indeed fakes or replica's it will be just 1 more thing that person screwed me on. (There is a list). Sadly. Quote
dat240z Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Dont stress too much mate, for what its worth I reckon the old school ones suit the car better and you wont have any issues getting rid of the recaros. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 5, 2014 Author Administrators Posted October 5, 2014 More photos of the seats.... As you can see I mounted them using a couple of steel brackets. Using the standard runners. Passenger side has this red stitching on the underside. Funny though that the drivers side is white. Recliner mechanism with seat removed. Recliner with cap on (doesn't say anything on it). Faded black - hard to capture with photo. Other side Recaro logo So any ideas if they are the real mc coy or just a clone? Quote
Retro Z Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Looks to be a clone. My genuine recaro had tags underneath, logos stamped on side plastic aswell as the harness holes and also had a recliner button on the side. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 5, 2014 Author Administrators Posted October 5, 2014 $200 shipped? Not sure if serious? I might put em' on eBay and see what the market decides. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 14, 2014 Author Administrators Posted October 14, 2014 Ok pricing these at $300. Any interest? Quote
MaygZ Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 SOLD! I'll PM you re payment and pick up. MaygZ Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 17, 2014 Author Administrators Posted October 17, 2014 Sounds good mate. Quote
