As title, why are 240k 2 doors popular now?

There is a few people on gumtree with wanted ads for them but no for sales.

yes these are leading questions - I have a "rough" but fixable one and have no idea if I should keep it (ie keep it in the shed) or sell it now. I'm more of a z fan anyway - so I cant see myself restoring it.

thought guys? --- its nice to comeback to these forums, I havnt been here much since selling my last 240z about 4 years ago ;(

NFI idea here either.

They aren't as pretty as a Zed, interiors aren't as cool, they have a steering box instead of a rack, & the terrible trailing arm rear suspension which changes toe on bump!

Basically they took a 1600 & put a L6 in it...

Each to their own though.

I think everyone wants an old 2 door Skyline GTR thing and that's the next best model that's locally available. They were cheap now it's impossible to find a good one.

They made awesome rally cars in the first gen production rally car rules of the late '80's.

Plenty of grunt could be gotten out of them, they were basically given away, so cheap to get and were tough as old nails when bouncing off trees in the bush.

Other than that, they were horrible ugly pieces of shit that I now quite like in a weird way, same as I like valiants and citreons.

Its because of the popularity boom of the c110 gtr 'kenmeri'. Many were bought by people from the middle east to make gtr mockups and i think they inflated the market value for them in the process.

My brother had a couple of them around year 2000 and couldn't give them away so he dumped them at a scrap metal joint...boy is he regretting that now. ;D

I love them always have, I even have video proof of me spotting 1 in year 2000 and saying they are cool. I'll upload that clip once I've edited it. So I'm not a recent fan boy.

I love the shape and if you see 1 with all the GTR fruit it makes all the difference. The shape is super cool, plus you can actually fit people in the back comfortably.

I think values have gone up simply because so many were crushed that now there is none left and so it is just supply demand driving prices.

They are super rare when you consider how many were produced and they were never sold in North America so unlike the Z globally there isn't much to go around.

I think all the Skylines are becoming more sought after since the recent R35 GTR.

R32s are a future classic too if you can find an unmolested example. I would buy 1 if I had a place to put it.

If you couldn't afford a 1600, you got a 180B and if you were mad you got a 240k for the reasons PZG302 stated.

Here's some 240k in-car from SA in 2011.  It is scary to watch even before he crashes; both were sore but okay. 1 less 240k.

My workshop foreman used to race speed cars at Parramatta raceway back in the 80's and early 90's.... He said they used to cut the roofs of 240k's and use them as convertibles to push start the midget cars.

"Its just Datsun garbage" he used to tell me when i was a apprentice, he is the typical fair dink bogan in his late 50's, if its not a v8 its garbage. i showed him a few recent ads for prices of 240k's and he couldn't believe it. He thought i was mad for paying 8k for my bus, "8 thousand dollars for a DATSUN!!??" Then i showed him the price of 2 seaters and his brain melted...

Twisted old fart... ill dance on his grave....
