Moderators PB260Z Posted April 13, 2014 Moderators Posted April 13, 2014 hey guys looking for wiper linkages for 240z seems mines seized due to rust. prefer vic so I can just pick them up. cheers Phil Phil This is a very common problem, you may not need to replace them. There have been a few threads on how to get them working again. Cheers PB Quote
phillay Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 I did a search, only found stuff about using honda motors as an alternative, my motor is working (although a bit slow). Nothing about how to fix it, would be good just fixing it. I sprayed mine in WD 40. but it looks ruined. The seal is missing on the seized spinning thing Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted April 13, 2014 Moderators Posted April 13, 2014 Gidday I am sure I have read about fixing this in a couple of build threads. Can't recall which ones though hopefully another member will have a better memory then me. There is a way to get a better search result via google, but exactly how eludes me atm, Gav ? Cheers Quote
Agno Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Try soaking the seized pivots in WD40 and gently trying to free them every couple of hours until they unbind Quote
lightmaster240z Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I had the same problem. you need to remove the top bearing to fix it. THis will be were the problem is. I try soaking it in Kero with on luck. I also tryed WD40 and penatrine. Alkl to on avaiel. Good luck with fixing it Bruce Quote
phillay Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 The forum search gives me only 10 results maybe I am doing it wrong I can google search the forum. Not sure if the forum has it enabled because some forums don't allow things to appear on search engine. Looks like I got something to look forward to doing on the long weekend cheers guys. Quote
zeds4ever Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 From memory i'm pretty sure Lurch listed a good idea on how to fix them some time back. Regards: Alan. Quote
phillay Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 thanks mate, I will pM lurch for some tips Quote
phillay Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 really need one now, attempted to "unseize" the wipers and ended up cracking it in half. I had it soaked in wd40 for a few days and what seemed to be on the path of sucess was all but a dream when a light tap with a rubber mallet has split the brittle wiper mount in half :'( Quote
zeds4ever Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Are the 260Z S30 of the same dimensions, I have two working sets in my stash. If they don't match up you might be able to re build with parts from the 26oZ unit with a bit of ingenuity. Regards: Alan. Quote
phillay Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Hi alan, I think the linkages are the same. Will send you a pm, cheers. Quote
zeds4ever Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 G'day mate, the two units I have are out of a 2+2 & a 260Z S30 & are identical so I should imagine they will match the 240Z set up. They are both in vg cndtn. Sent you a PM. Regards: Alan. Quote
zeds4ever Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 G'day Phil, just wondering if you recvd the wiper linkages OK & if they were a straight bolt up to the 240Z set up. Regards: Alan. Quote
phillay Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 hi alan sorry I shoudl have let you know but I got carried away with some urgent things, I did receive the wipers on friday and had it installed, and my wipers now works great. Had installed new blades that I had purchased as well. thank you for your help I will update my project thread as soon as I had time. when comparing your wiper linkages to mine they were chalk and cheese, there was no way I could have got mine to the condition that yours were in. zeds4ever Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Glad to hear mate, so now we all know that 240Z/260Z/260Z2+2 wiper linkages are all the same. Regards: Alan. Quote
