I wonder if that qualifies for Group-N out here? It would certainly kick some ass!

Nope, not group N or Group S and with the list of mods I doubt would be eligible for Group T without a lot of work to take it back to how it raced in the 70's.

Also would probably need a bit of work to be eligible for prod Sports.

So what's the situation with US log booked race cars here?  Makes no difference? If there are no log books then it looks like in the US the prices are less again, seriously worth considering instead of building one here I reckon.

Big risk without documentation or having someone go over it with a fine tooth comb so you don't have to spend big dollars getting it ready to play.

Having said that there was a genuine IMSA car advertised about 2 years ago for 45k, the one with the chassis on the floor and the panels hung on the wall behind it. That would have been interesting to see how you went with group T as it had the full history documented from the 70's, hadn't been modified from its original spec and had a full set of spares but didn't meet the spirit of the rules.. I would say it would have ended up as an orphan out here, didn't comply with group T, not quick enough for group O/R sports and not eligible for 2b and not competitive in 2a.

Getting a proper pre sale inspection done in the US is not a problem, it's been done before. But it really craps me that S30's are so restricted here as to where and against what they can compete. Forget hysterics, that's for old slow dudes, oops :)

But for 2b the s30 is too old and too slow to be competitive compared to other cheaper cars. A 350z was available in Jan at 45k ready to go and does 27's at Morgan park only running to 5500 before breaking down due to computer issues. My s14 build is still on budget to hit the track for $15k and will easily do sub 60sec laps at Lakeside

A number of genuine history US cars have been imported to Aus.

Quite happy to assist genuine intersted enquireres as to the process involved, and what is rwquired to get cars such as the above into competition in Australia.

It qualifies here, in its "as raced" specification up to December 1981

The space framed Dzus fadtened panels car will not qualify.

Jake, you are correct, it is Group T

Able to race this, within fields of up to 55 cars off the grid depending on track

You would not bother with such an excersise, f all you ever wanted to do was Lapdash single car v clck stuff.

Stick with something local

That zed wouldn't be suitable even for lap dash sprints here at all. As per the rules it should be "road registerable" if you get what I mean. Needs lights, etc. Side exhaust would get pinged for noise as even now a church mouse fart would set off alarm bells.

I expect your lap times at the Island to be around the high forties later on this year?

So serious, no joking allowed, as for a piss take  >:( Lighten up or keep out of threads where you are not able to make a positive contribution, the topic should be of interest in itself, whinging about imagined wrongs, give us a break.

I'm a non hysterical old bloke so of course my lap times are always slow, that's a given.

It's like watching those 2 old guys on the muppet show, Statler and Waldorf!

Riiiggghhhhhhttttttt.

Sure you're the one not missing it?

Either way.

The GT2 car looks like it needs a fair bit of work to bring up to an acceptable standard. It's also struggling for a class to race/sprint it.

Then there's the fact. That it won't necessarily improve your lap times anyway!

However. It does seem to be good buying.

Where was there any mention of improving my lap times? You know what? Lap times are not that important to me, there is always someone faster and sometimes I've been blown away when being passed by how good the passer is going, can learn lot's that way. And lay off the ageist 'jokes', no one does that sort of rubbish to my face.

Simon's reference to Statler and Waldorf has nothing to do with your age, it's about how Jason and your fine self bicker!

No bickering?

Where is it?

That car, reverted back to a 1981 specification, would be, here in Australa, very capable of doing quite well, in fact, very well, in the right hands, as a CAMS Logbooked Group T car.

Some of the Victorians have seen what a four cylinder Group T car can achieve, in 50 car fields at PI, this S30 could well be front row material.

So what if it is a bit rough, it's a jolly race car!

dont make it sound better, i bet its only a couple of $k to get it over here too. I wonder how much you would have to change to get it back to '81 spec?

::) He specifically mentioned 'old guys' if age was irrelevant why mention 'old'?

Because the characters on the Muppet Show he was referring to are old ya muppet.
