Its alive !!! Finally got my rb26 zed running again :)

Some of you long term zed nuts might have seen pictures and details of my build floating about on hybridz and classiczcars web pages. This particular 240z was my very first z that I bought when i was 19 and since then have bought and sold at least 15 different ones, all two seaters - not even one bus.

 

Well the project got put on hold since 2003 when I last parked it up. You know the usual: bought house, got married, had two kids, work etc. It is really depressing at times seeing no progress on my own car and seeing others starting their projects later and finishing it off first too.

 

I have just recently got back into it with new found enthusiasm. Now it runs for the first time again in ten years!!! Might be a contender for the longest zed project title here

 

There is lots of things left to do, but since its mobile again at least I enjoy spending time on it more. I usually drive it up and down the street a few times to get the blood going then chip away at refitting it all together.

 

I took some photos on my iPad but they are too large to upload, will have to fire up the laptop and resize them before I can post them up.

Ahh i thought your name sounded familiar from the other day.. So the rb26 yellow beast is yours? I copied your intercooler mounting and end tank mod from pics i came across on hybrid z

Good on you for getting back into it. Sometimes you get bit of a run on and go with it.

But as far as. Might be a contender for longest zed project title. I think there are guys on here that will never finish.lol.

Great news. I think I am one of the winners of longest build....I like you have owned my zed since I was young 20 not 19. I also have owned a number while the first one has been off the road and like you always 2 seaters including 280zx

 

Mine has been apart so long I forget how long but I think 16 might be 17 years now.

It's so easy to have something like this mothball, I find that once you get started that's the hardest part. Getting that motivation to start on something and work through it. I try to make sure I can get the car back together again relatively quickly as I find nothing more frustrating than not being able to drive it.

My Zed has been off the road for 8 years before I even purchased it. I have a 5 year plan so hopefully it will be on the road by 2056.

Does the yellow one have a G nose by any chance? I remember seeing something very similar in one of those performance car rags a few years back

No g nose, a yellow g nose car might be Jacks from Vic, last time was running L28ET but might have changed now.

Or Sinisha has a red g nose with a rb26 as well.

The Gnose z was Jacks. Haven't heard from him or his Z since 2006. It was still running L28ET then.

Yeah Jacks yellow G-nose is still L28et.

 

I bought a rollcage off recently. He is selling off a heap off his parts like brakes, coilovers, engine etc and is doing a ground up RB26 build soon..

It is great to see your car again, I used to follow with great interest what you were doing with your car over on HybridZ.

 

You must be feeling great about having it running.

 

I have just started back on my project after many years as well, mine is a VQ30det into a 260Z.

 

I can't wait to see more of what you will do with it.
