DOOM Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hey guys I'm from Adelaide, I don't own a S30 always wanted but instead I bought something even less common for my first car . A GC210 Skyline! Don't worry I wont crap up your forums with my unrelated Skyline crap, I'm mainly lurking here looking out for an L28 and manual transmisson. I currently have a pathetic L24 + 3sp auto to boot. Quote
CroS13 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 crap it up all you want friend! old skylines are good in my books! welcome! Stay awhile and listen! there is plenty of useful information in here even for you! Rudolf. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 1, 2013 Moderators Posted April 1, 2013 Welcome.. You may find an issue fitting a L28 from a 280ZX in the Skyline; sumps are in a different location. Block will have to have oil galleries drilled and others blocked etc... Quote
luvemfast Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 crap it up all you want friend! old skylines are good in my books! welcome! Yes........ But there are a hundred forums designated to Skylines! As Dimitri said, blocks and sumps are different due to oil gallerie and pick up positions. Quote
. Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Agreed the pickup is an issue but the sump can be solved by keeping the one off the current motor. Quote
zzzzed Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 sounds like it might be just as easy to put an rb25 in it Quote

I've heard about the sump issues, I read that i can extend the sump/oil pickup? instead of redrilling and possibly mucking it up. I'll worry it aobut it in the future for now I got rust issues. If anything I'd stick round here to see what I can apply to my Skyline, this place is a great community for thime that I've been lurking. I have a freind here who is looking for a Z CooperJS. One day I hope to be rocking an engine built by PeterMC, I like to dream too. Quote

Ben Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 The oil pickup can extended without issue. The dipstick hole will need to be re-drilled, or done away with. A stock L28E is worth about 15% more power at the treads than a stock L24E, FWIW. Quote
DOOM Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 When I get stuck ill come running but that wont be for a while. Quote
pauly_adams Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 you can put a rb20det in with out much issues, just use rb20 main engine mounts and use the rubber mounts from a jag, if you use the stock rb20det gearbox and a auto mount from a L24-28 auto gearbox you don't even need to change your tail shaft it all just bolts in with no modification. Moderators PB260Z Posted April 3, 2013 Moderators Posted April 3, 2013 Welcome I can't remember the last time I saw on these on the road. I have always liked these and can't understand why you don't see more of them running around. Quote
DOOM Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 So some updates since that post. The manual conversion was completed, using a 280ZX box (with 120y shifter), 225mm flywheel, Datsport providing Nissan Urvan Clutch and master/slave cylinders. this took two weeks in October Hover mode. Many thanks to the oldman for helping. L28E has been purchased to be rebuilt by me. Quote
