Convert it to manual transmission, and you wont have to worry about the screws (you can buy them from your local bolt shop - M6 counter sunk)

Centre of balance point is 75mm above the bumper centre-line. It's very easy to work out. The F&R bumper mounts are plenty strong enough to support a bare Z shell. FWIW we have two rotisseries that we made from engines stands with the centre mast raised by 400mm. Don't over think it - they are easy to build.

Hi, looking for a rotisserie, ideally 2nd hand (in Melb / Vic), but also tempted to build. Some people have used two engine stands, but they're too low so need modifying. They do need to be connected together. Trick will be getting the correct pivot height, so its easy to turn and will stay in any angle without excessive locking. Two people have both said the bumper mounts are too high and the car is bottom heavy. But if that changes between US and AUS, or 240-260-280 I'm not sure. Commercial items: This one is said to rotate very easily: was sold on this forum a few years ago (Peter Allen) DIY: DIY with adjustable point of rotation: This person used two vertical pipes that are on each end are held by u-bolts through the engine stand. So the car can be raised or lowered to get it to the proper balance point. (car is sideways in the pic) They say "the car is very neutral and can easily be spun with one hand. You can use the pin on the engine stand to hold the car in any orientation. When I go to set it down on it's wheels, I can loosen the u-bolts and slide it down until it is close to the ground". So, anyone have one for sale? Or any experience building one? I like the idea of one that can be adjusted to find the C of G. Cheers, Richard

I'll have a look tomorrow (aren't at the location of my car until then). I know I have two auto shifters, and I going to convert to a manual. But you know what they look like.. A nut and bolt store might be the go. Mine could be quite rusty..

Finally got some paint on 905 red is very red? Found some braided hose (slightly lighter braiding than original but better than straight rubber) and used 2 strands of copper wire to shape. Looks ok but wire might be too soft? Printed a hinge for tool box needs a bit more work hinge too stiff

Assembly could now begin. All the plated parts were organized, and any sub-assemblies were put together. The fuel and brake hard lines were installed in the chassis, followed by the brake booster, brake and clutch M/C's, and pedal box. The firewall mat was supplied by ZCarDepot to suit a RHD Z, but it needed much modifying to fit. Very disappointing and I don't recommended it.

With Daniel wanting a lower Z, we needed to have the strut tubes shortened so we could maintain effective bump travel. I took some measurements, then sent the bare struts off to be shortened and the gland nut threads recut. Being that the struts are 55mm (with the long rear tube), the rear needed a spacer in the bottom with a spigot to engage the bottom of the Koni insert to pack it up and keep it central, so a pair were machined up out of aluminum. We then assembled the struts with new Lovells lowering springs and their rebuilt braking components so we can fit the struts to the 260Z and get it rolling on it's wheels.

Go to this youtube video: Go to approx. 1.0 minutes. This is LHD VIN#16 which was one of the first cars sold to the general public in the USA. The car was originally gold and was repainted white in the early 1970's. The stickers/decals were applied to the time of the repaint. Its 1970's cool.

I love originality, but for me... Upgraded Brakes Fuel injection and modern ECU Air Con (for hot summer days in Australia) Upgraded wiper and heater / fan motor. Makes the car infinitely more usable all year around.

I'm currently working on Daniels suspension for his restoration. The struts are away getting their tubes shortened so we can obtain enough bump travel. Then to get the ride height lower still with the Lovells lowering springs, I'm going to drop the perches on the tubes until I get the ride height I'm after. I ended up using Koni Yellow Sport damper inserts from the front of a Z31 for all for corners, with a special Koni gland nut to suit the 55mm strut tubes. In the future if Daniel wants firmer springs or the ability to easily adjust the ride height, he can fit height adjustable platforms.

Always been a huge fan of pin striping on vehicles and would love to see if any members have gone down the route of putting stripes on their z's and would love to see some pictures..... The more 70's retro the stripes, the better. GO!

what did you end up going with and any pics showing ride height?

(Ok, not sure why it won’t let me add my text..) Possibly how long is a piece of string, but can I ask here what would be a typical price for that process, assuming the car is “roll in” ready? Though it will be years before we are in that situation. Cheers….
