Administrators gav240z Posted November 15, 2015 Administrators Posted November 15, 2015 Hi Everyone, I recently managed to get this console, sadly the console looks like it got damaged in transit which broke a couple of plastic tabs off each corner (the end that sits up under the dash). On the positive side the breaks are clean which means it could probably be repaired quite well and wouldn't be noticed once tucked under the dash and not in an area that is likely to see much stress and break again. Console: $100 Choke blanking plate. (out of late fuel injected Fairlady GS30) - This means no cracks around choke. I'll get rid of the cigarettes before shipping unfortunately this does mean the console smells of smoke. Since it has a rear ashtray I assume it's from a Fairlady Z 2/2 (GS31) Crack near rear mounting point also. The main reason I bought the console was for the OEM 260z Hitachi Head Unit. OEM Head Unit: $300 - I haven't tested it's working yet. It has the original wiring harness in tact, hasn't been butchered or cut... Antenna switch is included... Mounting brackets still present also. Model: Hitachi TM-751Z Parker Switch: $50 Loom of switch. I would rather sell it complete as it's easier and less hassle. So will sell the lost for $325 otherwise prices are indicated above. Postage is extra, but for the console it will be expensive....I should be at the Sydney meet next week so might be able to bring it for anyone interested? Just went on eBay to compare prices.. OEM head units. 1. Faceplate alone is $60 + postage from US. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-260z-280z-Radio-Stereo-Face-Plate-260-280-z-/291616107328 2. 280z radio. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Nissan-280Z-AM-FM-Stereo-Radio-Fits-74-78-OEM-260Z-/291614464151 3. 260z/280z radio. $925 USD. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Nissan-260Z-280Z-AM-FM-Radio-74-76-Stunning-Condition-OEM-Restored-240Z-/291609364265 4. 260z/280z radio. $675 USD. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Nissan-280Z-AM-FM-Stereo-Radio-Fits-74-78-OEM-240Z-260Z-/252152836345 5. Administrators gav240z Posted November 16, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 16, 2015 So far I've had interest in the switch and console, so happy to split this lot up. Nobody wants the OEM head unit yet? I would have thought that would be the first go to.. Quote
Hunter Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Mate I will take the OEM head unit. Does it work? Edited November 16, 2015 by Hunter Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 16, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 16, 2015 Mate I will take the OEM head unit. Does it work? I haven't tested it yet, I plan to buy a 12V test bench to test a couple of clocks I have and my 240z radio's but that won't be until I can get to JayCar and see if they have something suitable. Hence I was listing it as untested for now. Let me know what you would like to do? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 7, 2015 Author Administrators Posted December 7, 2015 A few more photos of the radio now it's removed from the console. I discovered the antenna switch on this model is the same as the early 240z switch, 5630073 is the stamping on both parts. Loom in 1 piece. May consider selling radio for $250 without Antenna switch, I can include a blanking plate instead (although haven't checked it fits yet) but it should given the switch is the same.. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13817-hitachi-radio-model-tm-1081za-trivia/ Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 7, 2015 Author Administrators Posted December 7, 2015 Radio is sold pending final payment. Quote

locklock Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi gav, Is 240z ashtray same size as 260z ashtray? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 14, 2015 Author Administrators Posted December 14, 2015 No 260z ashtray is wider than 240z ashtray. I have a spare 260z tray in Melbourne if you need 1? Quote

locklock Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Gav, Does 240z radio face plate would fit into 260z radio? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 31, 2016 Author Administrators Posted January 31, 2016 Gav, Does 240z radio face plate would fit into 260z radio? No the DIN pocket shape is inverse between early S30z and later S30z's. So head units are not interchangeable. Quote
