  1. LOL - i wish i were at that stage :-)
  2. i am after the inner guard and a portion of the firewall where the battery tray attaches
  3. Hi Lurch I am in the market for a spot welder, in your opinion is this model powerful enough to accomplish a floor pan (Zedd Findings) and outer sill replacement?
  4. I used one of these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Florida-Pneumatic-Air-Gasket-Scraper-Kit-1-4-Inlet-FP-706K-/182790695454to remove the under-seal prior to paint stripping Took a full day and was the worst job ever.
  5. I used this http://www.autolac.com.au/consumable-products/Other-Paint-Preparation-Products/CSTRIP4.html I applied one application and left it for 20 minutes, wiped off the loose stuff with paper towels and then washed with Turps and a scourer. There were a couple of areas that i had to reapply but would say i got 90% of it off on the first application. I did what you see in the photo and 3/4 of the interior done in a single day before running our of stripper. Pretty happy with the result
  6. I believe i have located a donor cut which is my preferred option, if that falls through i will buy a bigger hammer and do it the old fashion way :-)
  7. Chemically stripped the underbody - pretty happy with the result, just slow going
  8. thanks Cracker, appreciate it :-)
  9. Awesome I will need to research some more but i believe the 240z and 260z two seaters tire wells are the same what sort of condition is it in?
  10. Good point, but if i can fix it now i would like to street legal track car, so it needs to pass roadworthy
  11. searching for either a complete spare tire well or donor section for a 240z Thanks in advance
  12. checked them out a couple of weeks ago, awesome idea but Seven Hills is like travelling to a different country from south Sydney.
  13. The previous repair was so poorly done (crappy lap weld, no primer or rust treatment) that 1/4 of wheel well to the left of the repair has now basically rusted out. Z Car Depot sell a handmade reproduction (https://zcardepot.com/spare-tire-well-sheet-metal-240z), a bit expensive at $459USD + shipping though I will look for a donor cut but hold little hope given the difficulty i am having sourcing a battery tray and inner guard cut. The joys of Datsun life :-)
  14. Another quality repair uncovered anyone know where i can source a replacement spare tire well?
  15. scary stuff, wonder what has been done that you can not see
  16. No expert, but seems a little on the cheap side?
  17. grandkids = mini orbital sanders :-)
  18. With the Z being predominately a track car i would like to update/upgrade components not intended for repeated disassembly such as the metal fold/pinch fasteners that secure the wiring loom and hoses to the chassis, anyone seen any good alternatives to the OEM ones? Thanks
  19. OMG! https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/west-gladstone/cars-vans-utes/240z-shell/1181653059
  20. Can i get a better picture of IMG_3054 and IMG_3055 with the leaves removed?
  21. I am after the left hand side inner guard where the battery tray would be attached in a RHD car. Can i get some pictures of that area less the leaves? Thanks
  22. nice, i can not wait until i get to the repair stage of my build :-) keep up the awesome work
  23. another question for the collective :-) I want to ensure that the car remains road registrable, anyone know of a Sydney engineer/certifier that would not mind consulting on the build? Regards Gary
  24. Hmmm, it has been a while since reading the regulations but sure body kits are permitted in most classes with the exception of classic/historic racing. I will need to review the regulations, but looking at doing some supersprints, drifting and maybe time-attack. I like the Rocket Bunny kit, however I am not wedded to the idea if it limits my options to much. Happy to take any advice from those who are currently spinning laps :-)
