Hey Guys been a little slack on updates. Picked up the Toyo R888 R on Monday and I must say they look quite nice. Cant wait to get them on the Watanabes and on the car to compare to the R1R's I had on the Celica. Also been working on the rear break conversion, picked these backing plates from SW Motorsport and I must add that they definitely put a hole in my pocket. Need to get them coated. So the plan is to run R33 GTR calipers front and rear with a 4 stud. Need to powder coat the calipers and get them rebuilt. Better to do this now so we have no issues later. Also have had the strut sleves adjusted for the coilovers. Waiting on getting them back from the powder coaters, I got them to powder coat them in Bronze. Rear end painted and new bushes so whould be good once together. Happy Restorations Everyone

The Ebay Thread #2 - Post Ebay Parts Here!
JDM-TOY replied to XRQTR's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Yeah Chris is a nice guy, I met him a few times. He purchased one of my 18RG engines a few years back. I still remember his old school 80's trailer with steel HQ hubcaps lol. That Celica has been in his possession for a long time. Chris also has a long history with Toyota Head office so I would definitely be comfortable knowing that Celica has a history too. I was tempted to buy one of his friends MX32 Toyota Cressida Wagon, it was in mint condition for its age. Brought back memories from when my Dad had one when I was young. But I was going to do a 2JZ swap and JDM style it lol. -

Nice Celica, Is that Chris's car. He works for Toyota Head Office -
2TG is a solid engine. I love the 18RG, I regretfully sold the two I had and one was a 18RG-EU, both worth big money now to buy. I might get another Celica after my 240 is done. Enjoy

Hey Guys New article on the 10th of June on Motoring.com.au. Is build number #803 a member of this forum? https://www.motoring.com.au/datsun-240z-nissan-370z-old-new-review-113041 I would love to see a twin turbo 370z Nizmo for the 50th anniversary. Possibly a GTR killer lol. But Nissan could discontinue the Z because of the low sales volume, who knows. Enjoy Youhan

Hi Gavin great upgrade, is there going to be a mobile site like the old one? Cheers Youhan -
I agree Rob body work is far important than the mechanicals. I focused mechanical on my RA23 and regretted not doing the body first. But I think Snoop is better than 2 Pac.

Hey guys Small update, picked up some 15 X 8 0P star steel wheels for the Dato. I ordered a set of RS Watanabe 8 spoke from Japan and its been 2 months and no wheels yet. Thought to just get these steelies to get me by for fitment and rolling of the guards. I also Spoke to Steve the technical manager at Toyo and he said that the R888 R in a 205/50/15 would sit well on these wheels and also the Watanabes. So I put in a order for those too. Bilstein are taking there time to deliver the shocks I ordered. Not sure when they will arrive.

Very nice, I love the early TA and RA. This is my old 76 RA23 with a S15 setup that I sold a while back, a little rocket. Wouldn't mind getting a TA22 in the factory yellow. I had the opportunity to buy some yellow ones that came up but missed out. Enjoy champ

I agree with Gavin because when I was looking to import from Japan I was getting sent pictures of S30z's full of visible rust and in bad condition with missing parts for $30k plus. What ever is in Australia is far better and cheaper for what will come from Japan. Not to forget the removal of Asbestos parts on old cars which is another problem on its own. I think the red 240z that Curtis is selling is value for money but would need to source some parts and would still negotiate on the price but no low balling. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/byron-bay/cars-vans-utes/1970-240z-211/1180637293 Cheers Youhan

Thanks Guys but I just found a pair on Saturday. The gumtree listing as only for the covers and padding, thanks Gavin

Hey guys Still building, Picked up a R200 diff 3.9 ratio and a mustache bar today from Sports Car Classics. Once the car is done I will definitely take it to Jason from Gear Exchange in Smithfield and get a LSD put on. But for now keep it standard. Should have the suspension all sorted out hopefully by Friday to get the car off the rotisserie Cheers Youhan
-
Hey guys Selling my R180 diff I believe its a 3 5 ratio, It came out of my auto 240z. Not sure why but when you spin the flange both sides spin, but its not a LSD. Can anyone shed some light on this. $500 pick up from Sydney Hills District

L28 Fuel Injection, Wiring Harness And Computer

Haha, Hey Rudi good choice mate. Yeah hopefully by the end of this week. Im just waiting on the powder coaters to finish some of the rear end. Believe me I want to see the car off that rotisserie to have the body work all done and ready for paint. Yeah I have seen that red 240z before but not at the shop, it belongs to Carlos from Sports Car Classics. Big hit, would need a big pull and alignment but Marcel will do a good job on that too. Cheers Youhan
-
Hey Guys So whilst the 240 is up on the rotisserie I decided to strip the engine to a long block, and take it to SW Motorsport for a rebuild. I was thinking of going all out with a stroker kit to a 3.2L but I think at this moment I need to be sensible. I think a mild cam, flat top pistons and triple OER Carburettors should be enough for a cruiser. Also had the rocker cover polished and it came out nice. What other options would you guys suggest for the L28 rebuild, would love to get some feedback. Cheers Youhan

Lol get it before its gone.
