  2. Where are the RB engine & gearbox mounts from?
  3. If the generator's 16A circuit breaker didn't trip, that would suggest that the welder draws less than 16A. Does the welder have a fuse? If so, its current rating could give you an idea of the expected draw.
  4. PM sent about fuel tank straps, wipers and spare wheel cover
  5. They told me it would be around $750 to $900 + GST. My plan for the brakes is similar, except that I'll probably use R31 rear calipers. Which mounts are you using? What about the oil pan?
  6. I don't need one myself, but I'm an electrical engineer so I could help to develop a replacement if others need them.
  7. Gav, do you know why they were going to cost so much to reproduce? Was it $2000 each, or was that the engineering cost?
  8. Jeremy didn't seem to think that many supporting modifications were necessary - just making sure the gearbox, diff, etc were up to the task. I was only talking about a relatively stock engine, though. The story may be different at those power levels.
  9. I had a conversation with Jeremy Banks (in Beaumaris) a couple of months ago - he seemed quite knowledgeable about 240z's. The only others I found that got back to me and would be willing to take on my project (RB25DET into 240z) were Enkelman and Associates (Braeside), but I haven't spoken to them yet. KatoKid was planning to use them though (http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6400.msg123002.html#msg123002).
  10. Welcome, and good luck in your search for a 240z. I've seen a few of your photos before, like this one of my sister driving at Calder.
  11. How does everyone store their windscreen and hatch glass while they're out of the car? Is there a particular way they should be stored to minimise the risk of cracking (e.g. on edge)? Any ideas for keeping them safe and out of the way would be appreciated.
  12. Can you put me down for a set too nat0? Thanks, Belinda
  13. From http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/3291-request-advise-on-radio-installation/ My guess would be W/B for speakers, B/G for ground, G/W for power and L/R for illumination? You also need to work out whether the left and right refer to the front of the connector or the back. If it was me, I'd open the radio up and follow the wires/traces inside to work it out.
  14. Downlight transformers usually output 12VAC, don't they?
  15. A computer power supply is a cheap option, with a lot of current available at +12V. You could use the sparkfun kit to convert to banana sockets, or just add your own connectors.
  16. http://www.thingiverse.com/ is a popular 3D model repository. Monkeyman - if you're willing to share your stl files, you could upload them there. I have a 3d printer, so I may be able to print a few parts for people. Or if you want to find someone with a printer in your area, check out http://www.makexyz.com/.
  17. I picked up the car during the week. Here are some photos: The passenger's side dogleg: The driver's side door jamb: The underside of the roof (previous owner replaced the roof skin):
  18. I'm sure you've already figured this out by now, but the ECU grounds pin 18 to switch on the pump. The other side of the relay coil needs to be connected to 12V.
  19. Thanks everyone!
  20. Yeah, there's a bit of rust left underneath that needs to be taken care of. I'm not sure yet who I'm going to take it to, so any recommendations would be appreciated. I'll be doing as much of the work as I can myself, but rust repair is outside of my skillset. I'll let you know about the step plates after I've picked up the car.
  21. Thanks Gareth. It will primarily be a weekender - I'll keep my S14a daily.
  22. Thanks! I'm in the SE suburbs.
  23. Hi everyone! My name's Belinda and I'm another new member from Melbourne. I've been reading the forums for a while and planning to start a 240z or 260z project once I had the space for it. I found a rolling shell advertised last week and went to check it out the next day. It seemed to be pretty well suited to my project, so I put a deposit on it and will be picking it up in the next week or so. It will have to go into storage for a few months, but I'm eventually planning to drop in an RB25DET. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for you all once I get started.
