  1. That does indeed look awesome. I agree about losing the bumpers. The holes and indents in the body would add to the look too I think.
  2. If you are serious, I'd be happy to help with that. FYI, I haven't seen this show pop up on any of the Japanese torrent or DL sites.
  3. The show starts tomorrow night in Japan. I speak Japanese actually so I'll see if I can track down a copy of it once it airs.
  4. I have. I've also seen the Custom Autosound Radios. I'm not keen on putting an LCD display in there though. I'm starting to think that retrofitting FM is too much effort for an old Hitachi radio but I haven't given up yet, I'm still looking at a few options. No cash so there is no hurry anyway. The Becker Europa or Mexico radios might work if the amps are clean enough for modern speakers but I would prefer to keep it Japanese.
  5. Looks good. Any photos of it on an s30 without flares? The Kameari air dam is the one I'm really interested in though.
  6. With a bit of tuning I've managed to get the car running really nicely, despite the 260 carbs. This frees me up to just do a few smaller jobs over the last week. I finally switched out the terrible grey mirrors, replacing them with chrome mg midget/mini mirrors that I got off ebay. Very happy with them, they suit the car very well I think I'm surprised how much they lift the overall appearance of the car. I removed all the rubber and large lumpy bits from the front and rear bumper, filling in all the holes with chrome bolts to make it look a bit more finished. http://i.imgur.com/KroMO.jpg[/img] You'll also notice that my exhaust is sticking out quite a bit. I read somewhere that having the exhaust tip finish a few inches past the bumpers can fix fume problems and it's completely true, I have no fumes whatsoever now where I was feeling sick after about 30 minutes before. HIGHLY recommend it for a quick, cheap fix. It wasn't hanging out so far when the full sized bumper was on there so I might knock it in little bit more once I get my hands on an oxy torch. I'm not terribly fussed though, doesn't look too bad and it completely solves my fume problems. The next project on the board is a stereo. I'll just do two 6x9 in box running across the back end of the hatch but have a few big plans for the head unit. I'm still doing my research but I'm looking at completely overhauling the non-working Hitachi stock radio that it's there at the moment, replacing the AM tuner, adding an FM tuner, adding AUX and upgrading the amp so I can play music from an ipod I'll keep in the ash tray. I have seen it done with Mustangs and other classic cars but not with at Datsun. Not sure how I'll go, just an idea at this stage. I may just opt for a stereo in the glove box but I love these old push button radios and would love if mine was usable.
  7. Did anyone end up finding a source on one of these AllZParts Airdams or would anyone be willing to part with theirs?
  8. Great day, it was very nice to meet everyone!
  9. Car has been great fun for the last couple weeks. Difficult to start when it's hot though as the carbies seem to flood a bit and it coughs at higher RPM when cold as it's running a bit lean now. The joys of 260Z carbs. Need to switch ASAP. I'm putting the car in to get tinted tomorrow too. It's just outrageously hot with no window tint and no air-conditioning.
  10. I'm on the road now so I'll definitely be there this weekend!
  11. Excellent, thanks for the info. So is there any benefit in switching the exhaust without changing the headers while running 240Z carbs with the 3L L28 with a cam?
  12. A couple quick questions - I want to lower the car a few inches but will also be eventually changing the wheels once I have saved up the cash. Could I lower it before I change the wheels or would it make more sense to just wait? It's much cheaper to purchase new springs than to buy new wheels and tires... Also, I have the stock extractors and exhaust on there at the moment and given that the engine has seen quite a few improvements, I'm guessing that the stock exhaust system is a bottleneck for performance at the moment? From what I've read though, the stock extractors are actually quite good and probably don't restrict the engine too much? Would I see a performance increase if I were to move to a 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" exhaust without changing the extractors?
  13. I love black Zeds, especially black Zeds with gold trim. The pin stripe on the rear quarter looks fantastic too. So tempted to repaint my 260Z black.

    240Z Carbs

The 260Z airboxes are unfortunately not compatible with the 240Z airbox. If I find any extras though I'll be sure to let you know. And yes, fantastic forum!

    240Z Carbs

Carbs would be nice to have but you know what carbs can't do though? Buy beer. Sell them, acquire beer. Simple! Lovely beer drinking weather too, isn't it? I'd love to take them off your hands.
  16. Got the roadworthy sorted today with no real issues! I've booked in for my registration and I'll be on the road by this time next week and in time for the Christmas Party!

    240Z Carbs

Bump! Still looking for round top SUs!
  18. Welcome. I've just recently joined and got a car myself. Plenty of info here and good deals are out there but you have to be ready to pounce when they come up. Good luck with the car hunt!
  19. No, thank you for the advice! Good to hear multiple opinions on this stuff while I'm still learning! It was more about emissions. As it was, it would have clearly failed any emissions tests. It's running OK now though. Thank you!
  20. I just want to get it on the road first. Down the line I might look at doing some performance mods like that but right now ill just get it running reliably and then the next thing will be a switch to manual. It's only ever going to be a street car so I don't need HUGE power. I just want to have a bit of fun.
  21. I went to DJM to get the car in for the RWC today. Daniel seemed quite impressed with the car and thinks that with some tuning there could be a very healthy amount of power in it, which is nice to hear. I will need to switch to 240Z carbs though eventually as the 260Z just aren't working well at low revs. I'm in the market if anyone is looking to sell...
  22. Daniel had a look at the car for me again today and is sorting it out. Seems to be running so rich at low RPM because of the cam and the carbs. He tuned it a little though and it will probably pass RWC now but I will switch to 240Z carbies ASAP. Very knowledgable guy. Thanks for the advice everyone.
  23. Excellent stuff to get me started here. Thank you.
  24. $1000 including parts is what I've been quoted. I'm in Hawthorn. I'll have crack at it tomorrow. If I don't get anywhere it would have been great if you could have a look but you are a bit far. Thanks for the offer though!
  25. I am. Have an appointment with him tomorrow. He hasn't even opened the bonnet though he said to just switch to 240Z carbs and forget about it. That'll cost me $1000 and I don't want to spend that unless I absolutely have to.
