Hi guys, I must apologise if this question has been asked before but I have been out of the loop for a while. I want to do rust prevention counter measures on my 280z (lhd) I noticed on the weekend that I have a small amount of sinister rust activity starting inside the hatch at the top near the hinge. This is starting from inside of the panel as it has been fitted with a louver and a moron induced 3mm hole :-( But is certainly not worth getting out the oxy any time soon. Pics to come if interested. I am certainly not new to Zeds this being my 4th and being fully aware of the sleepless nights listening for the sound of rust developing in the garage. This car is from the USA and appears to be in extra ordinary condition with a fantastic body. I have had her seven years. Question is: 1. Is there a product anyone has found successful in converting the rust process prior to spaying inside the cavity? Rust converter, inhibitor or molasses lol. Yes access is very limited. 2. Can anyone recommend a flexible spray probe with a hose and small probe to feed into cavities to spray protectant in the rest of the body? Or have a design I can make? Thanks Folks

1974 240Z For Sale Adelaide, LHD. I looked at this car last year when a guy had it for sale in the southern suburbs. I am guessing he sold it, now it is for sale again. Was pretty original, had service history, original sales books, and from memory proof of a long ownership. Might have even been original 1 owner before emigrating to Oz. Paint average, had had an L28 in it but was recently changed to L24 to satisfy rego in SA from memory. Thanks, Trying to cover all bases. I would like to get some spares for a rainy day and the ZX donors are low cost. Mine being a 280z coupe has its own compatibility issues re spares. I thought if the drive train on a 280ZX had enough common spares it might be worth stripping one. How many cars do you need honey! One more..

Have not bought the donor yet. So a non turbo ZX runs the same half shafts as a late S30 car (non CV)?? When did the S30's start running the R200 diff? Are all the diffs interchangeable?

Any idea if the halfshafts fit, are they CV on all 280zx's forgot to look? I have a s30, 280z so EFI spares would be good for me. Ta

I disassembled the front of the booster last night via the master push rod. Not that hard really. Ta-da.. the reaction disc was missing!! How pleased can you get about a missing part. lol. After fishing about a bit inside the booster and reading up I decided to leave the old one inside the booster and cut out a new one. 5mm neoprene approx. 26mm diam was my guess. I meticulously calculated the length of the push rod and adjusted it to suit, being ever so careful not to lose my new reaction disc inside the booster. Seems the disc is only held in with a prayer until you assemble the whole thing. And to adjust the push rod length you need to pull out the rod. After getting her all back together and checking the pedal free play I tried out the brakes. I only tried braking in the driveway but there is so much more feel, still only light pressure needed but it is not deadly as before. Will know better once I road test her. Steve

Scoota, standby.. I might need to replace it but I want to find the problem first. Hope to find some time tonight. Need to locate the reaction disc, I think it has fallen out inside the booster. Reading up on it, sounds like my issue plus the master pushrod has been removed out of the booster, not only by me If no luck I will just replace the whole booster.

Guys, Recently bought my 280z but she has a brake problem. The brakes grab BIG time. There is very little feel or pedal movement, it is very challenging to drive. She pulls up straight though. Changed the pads and the rotors are great. Previous owner changed the master cylinder to a 1". Unsure why, had a 7/8" prior.? Suspect the booster. I have double checked the master pushrod length. No change. Maybe the Reaction disc has fallen out in the booster..... Anyone had any experience? It is still inside the booster? Can I get it back without removing the booster from the car??

Hi guys, I need to get a roadworthy inspection done so I can get the car registered in SA. I need a set of original 14" wheels for the approval process. Does anyone in Adelaide have a set, hopefully with nuts and caps? 280zx ones will do at a pinch. Thanks

Hi Scoota, I notice you know a bit about boosters. My brakes have a bit of a problem. They are very grabby, the front wheels lock up with VERY little foot effort. I have changed the pads and are awaiting a road test but noticed the last night that the foot pedal has a noise and hesitates and klonks on releasing the depressed brake pedal. Yes the spring returns the pedal. I notice that as you apply the brakes the half inch shaft attached to the pedal moves & then the 2 inch part of the booster moves also (the part with the rubber boot). It makes the noise. Is this normal?? Any thoughts?

Forgot to say.. I bought this car 10 days ago and only got delivery on Tuesday. To get it registered in SA it needs a full roadworthy inspection. Hence I will need to get it sorted. And buy a few bits. Thanks for your patience.

Hi guys, I just shipped a 280z from Brisbane to Adelaide. I used CEVA open transporter. $780 depot to depot. Took 5 days. I deliberated on who to use. Prix was the cheapest at $350, but the nice lady did say some of the drivers were better than others. Treasured Transport sounded good but Dave was busy and over $2k door to door. The car arrived covered in sand, not dust and a cracked winscreen. CEVA say the crack was preexisting crap. Get a copy of the inspection report before you leave, they are not to be trusted. Good luck Will use the car trailer next time.

I fitted a toggle. Was not that hard. Great idea, it took a bit of time, I hope it lasts and can handle the current. At least she is back on the road. I noticed whilst upside down in the foot well that the brake pedal catches/kloncks after pressing it down and hesitates to return to the rest position.... Brake booster?? Looks like restoration project now........
