  1. Hi, The indicators did work but gravity did cause me the problem. I found it difficult driving and holding the switch in place. I thought I would try and fix it. On inspection: The switch contacts has a have a small white plastic 1/2 moon piece with a spring loaded ball bearing fitted inside it. This piece causes friction and holds the indicators on. The ball bearing sits inside the 1/2 moon and on the aluminium casting. My casting has some wear and the plastic piece is broken. Do you have the small white plastic piece that I speak of? Thanks
  2. Hi guys... Tragedy my indicator switch has just failed. Gone floppy. Not really repairable. Can anyone help? Picture of type attached. Thank you
  3. Rock and roll. Tomorrow brings new adventures, I am sure you will find them. Good luck, but you might not need it. Look forward to seeing your car one day.
  4. Thanks guys. Great pic Scoota. Am I right in thinking ALL zeds were made in the same factory in Yokohama? Spoke to a motor vehicle engineer today. No worries with the ADR29, if it has the bars, in principle, then he is happy. Retro: I have got the rear lourve and even blinds for the side glass, headlight covers and the steering wheel cover... It is on youtube (4:3ratio) when it was first imported. Check out the guys selling her!!lol Unsure what is really different between the 280z can only compare to my memory of the old 76 2+2. Bumpers, Horn pad has a "Z" on it. Speedo in mph to 160. Dash console has low fuel light, and temp. warning light on cat converter, no choke lever, no locking fuel flap, inertia reel belts on both the lap and shoulder strap, seat belt audible buzzer, no jesus foot bar for passenger, Bosch fuel injection as 280zx. Plate says it is 170hp. This is a 5 speed, some were 4 or auto. 80 litre tank with space saver spare wheel. Door latches are different apparently, as so might be steering ratio??? 2.6 turns lock to lock not 2.7, might be a myth?? Car is slightly heavier so body might be heavier and more robust. (I think it just has more crap in it) I can not believe the Japanese would not use the same body for the 260 and 280. It would be wise to keep them similar. It would be a very poor economic decision not to. Thanks again.
  5. The ADR29 refers to the side intrusion strength. I guess the 280z doors are as strong as the Aust delivered 260z. I would think they are the same part. I just need an engineer to state that. I also need to have the amber rear indicators (thanks Scoota) Steve
  6. Thanks Scoota. Received the lights today. Excellent, great work.
  7. Ok guys... have your fun. She sure is a little different.. Bumpers: Sort of why I like her. Different. It does look better in the flesh though. Anyone got any ideas how many true 280z's are in Oz? Shannon's say this is their first, can not believe that. Will keep it LHD, it compliments the bumpers...lololol Need to prove the doors comply with ADR29 to register her in SA. I guess a 1977 Aust. delivered 260z is ADR29 compliant?? Any comments please Thanks guys
  8. Hi guys, Just thought to say hi. I finally got another Zed after a thirty year drought. She is a 1977 280z, LHD import. Seems pretty much 100% original other than the wheels. And rust and bog free.. It was a California car imported from Florida on 2010. The USA owner had it over 20 years and restored her before being sold and then imported to Australia. Has the L28 with the Bosch fuel injection, looks like the ZX under the bonnet but in the S30 coupe body. Whilst not concourse she could be with some money and work....lol No doubt I have a lot to learn, some parts to buy and some friends to make. This car deserves to stay 100% original. I am pretty much in love
  9. So sorry mate. It would not be too hard to recognise in Adelaide. Will keep an eye out. Maybe a joyrider has got it and dumped her in the sticks.. they may not have burnt her due to the high fire risk at the moment. Just looking for a positive. Fingers crossed
  10. Hi Scoota, They look Great! Is that the price for the pair? Sold. Can you maybe send them Aust. Post regular service? Will PM my details. Steve
  11. Hi Kavs, Did you get the silver 260z from Elizabeth?
  12. Great Scoota
  13. Hi all. Just bought my second Z after a 30 year drought. Hair is now grey but not the memories.. lol. I need to buy a pair of good rear lights. Just the amber indicator lenses actually, left & right. The full assembly would be nice though. In Adelaide so postage would be good msg me with you number if you like. Thank you Steve
  14. Please give Pauly a break. I don't think he is a car dealer. I am in the market to buy a Z after not owning one for a long period of time. I find it disappointing that people are not encourage to use this forum as a place to distribute knowledge and information about their vehicles whether they are for sale, restoring them or have a technical problem. I am not suggesting that the forum could become a clicky group of computer nerds, just something to think about. Welcome everyone! Please
