  1. Nice work, i think ill have a go at repairing the one ive got, if its too far gone, ill take you up on that offer. Rather spend my cash locally.
  2. I need one of these for my 240. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/SBC1C02/30-7240 Ive emailed The Z Store asking for a price on postage for 1 and a few parts sent to SA. Looking at roughly $200 for a single panel, and around $300 for a few. At this stage i cant justify paying $200 postage for a single panel for myself, but if say 2 others are interested it will bring it back to $100 each. Let me know if your keen.
  3. Im looking into ordering full length sills at the moment. Freight prices seem to be the killer, freigh was $320 and the sills are $70 each, you would only have to get a couple of sets to make it worth while. Let us know if your interested and i might see if i can organise a few sets.
  4. Personally i dont think its neccesary to run a sequential injection system. As its others have said its only really handing for cleaning up idle quality and emissions, which with a decent size cam are going to be out the window anyway. More gain and smoother running can be had by a good tune, I wouldnt be paying the extra just for sequential unless theres more inputs and outputs that the basic ecu's dont have, things like onboard wideband, nitrous control, rotational idle ect. Your pretty well right with the wasted spark, one coil will fire 2 cylinders at the same time. 1+6, 2+5 and 3+4, are fired in pairs, when cylinder 1 is on compression it will fire number 1 plug, but will also fire number 6 at the same time, because number 6 is on overlap, the spark will be wasted. No cam position or 720 degree signal is needed, only crankshaft referance. Hope this helps
  5. Hey, Theres heaps of ecu options out there its just finding the right one at the right price. Im using a Haltech platinum sprint 500 on my L28. Im running individul throttle bodies and a rb30 ccrank angle sensor. Like you said its only got 4 injector and ignition outputs, so its setup for semi sequential and using 1 coil through the distributor. I modified the standard 280zx distributor housing to fit the rb30 pickup, the pickup will support direct fire, and full sequential if i decide to change ecus in the future. Any decent ecu will be fine, its the way its tuned, the really light throttle stuff is always the hardest to get right, especially with itb's.
  6. Will suit 40- 45mm , weber DCOE, mikuni solex, dellorto DHLA ect. They all share the same bolt pattern. Ill put a pic up tonight.
  7. I have 2 items for sale, 1) Lynx triple carb inlet manifold, No linkages or studs, just the manifold. Has been painted black. $150 2) EFI inlet manifold off my 280zx, comes with injectors, throttle body, loom, AFM ECU, resisters. Average condition, one injector was seeping, and the metal fuel line that runs around the front of the engine is bent a bit from removal. $150 Located in Balaklava, just north of Adelaide, but will send interstate at buyers expence. Open to offers by PM. Can email Pics.
  8. Should be a pretty easy repair, Id cut the piece of rail out, work the floor flat, and weld a new rail in. Provived you dont uncover any rust, i dont think theres a need to cut a section of the floor out.
  9. I have my crankcase breathers vented to atmosphere, it stinks really bad. My engine has really bad blowby, but its something to keep in mind. Ill be venting the breather back into the airbox / filter when i make it up.
  10. Efi hardware do custon fuel rails. http://www.efihardware.com/products/1784/Custom-Fuel-Rails Pretty expensive, but like datpilot said the material itself is pretty cheap. I bought a piece of fuel rail extrusion and drilled the injector holes and tapped the ends because in a tight ass.
  11. Sounds like a reasonable deal.
  12. Im looking for a set of extractors for a l28. Price will be depending on type and condition. Let me know what youve got. Would prefer in SA (north) so i can pickup. Thanks, Jason.
  13. Keep an eye on ebay and gumtree, you often see ecus go cheap.
  14. Ive got a tech edge wideband, had it for a few years and never had a problem, ive got the sensor mounted in a piece of pipe so i can use it as a tuning tool in any vehicle. It reads identical the $2000 autronic wideband we were using on the dyno. A few years back when i bought it, i couldnt find a cheaper complete kit on the market, obviously things are a little different now.
  15. Just out of curiosity, whats a rotisserie sell for, i spose it depends on alot of factors but roughly?
  16. Dont quite agree with this one. Subaru Impreza WRX: Largely responsible for convincing young Australians that V8 engines were, you know, like, so yesterday. The Lancer Evo is almost as impressive. The Evo is more impressive.
  17. Im in the same boat as Ledge, The way i see it, if your going to go through building a car, investing heaps of time and money you should have it the way you want it. I think all period mods are ok, engine conversions arnt. My car will have, ZG flares, Watanabes and a L series. Thats my opinion.
  18. The 240z arrived this weekend, ill put some pics up later because they might describe it a bit better than words. There is alot missing, i think im gunna need another one for parts. The body isnt too bad, but its had a few dodgy resprays and theres heaps of bog, so as i strip it, it might get worse. My main concern at the moment is the lack of parts, no lights at all, rear garnish, quarter window, seats, front gaurd, bonnet hinges, boot vents, brake calipers, most interior bits, front lower panel, fuel filler lid, radiator. Thats the main stuff
  19. Yeah im 21, My original plan was to add flares and wide wheels, but because its suck a low build number and the original engine is still with it, i kind of have to keep it original. Ill wait until i get it and have a good look before i can say whats going to happen.
  20. Its this one, 1http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DATSUN-240Z-COUPE-RACE-RALLY-TARGA-Z-RESTORE-PROJECT-/370472451882?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item5641e0ff2a The guy selling it said someone from Ballina came and had a look at it, just wondering if its anyone from here? It needs some loving. Salty, ill see if i can make it, would be good to meet some forum members.
  21. Ive got myself a 240z, ill start a project thread once it arrives.
  22. Thanks guys, im going to need all the help i can get to find a Z, but the more i read on this forum the better it gets!
  23. Hi, im new to the forum, well ive been looking around for a few weeks and decided to register. I dont own a Z and never have, but im on the hunt for a project car at the moment. Im in SA, if youve got a 240 or 260 2 seater let me know. Cheers, Jason
