only works on some punctures, a stone through a tyre will generally leave a larger hole. For you city folk a nail will generally seal. If you plan on using this make sure you have you little kit. Most of the bottles come with a plastic valve tool on the top. I would also suggest getting a valve tool or at least an old style metal cap with the tool hidden under the rubber top - still available > they come on truck tubes. Obviously you need to carry a small compressor although you can now get really small co2 cannisters that supposedly fill the tyre (mainly used for motor bikes but I imagine if you had 2-3 of them it would give you pressure to go again. Problem is that when your tyre is pumped back up its to easy to forget to get it repaired.

DON'T USE THAT SLIME ON THE ROAD............... You can get similar products here is oz but all create issues. That stuff is mainly designed for use with four wheelers, wheelbarrows and such. To use the correct amount in a car tyre will leave you with 500gms of liquid moving inside the tyre - making it IMPOSSIBLE to balance. Now an unbalanced wheels isn't a huge problem - I own a tyre shop and don't balance my track wheels, but this stuff makes it violent - not just a light shudder. A better suggestion for me would be to carry a good quality plug kit. But the reality of this is that you will generally have to jack the car to install it. Other option is use Run flat tyres with a pressure sender in each wheel. Much harsher ride and twice the price for tyres.

Wow, looks to be reasonably priced. Just a shame its not on this side of the world instead.

One smashed piston, partially intact, rod in bits, one valve kissed piston but valve gear looks ok. I am no CSI but i do have a little crank scoring and one snapped bolt on a rod. So I am going to pull down the motor of the shelf and transfer bits and buy whats necessary. Gonna have a look at my sump pan and see if I can make it work a little better. I kind of figure that I have had a heap of fun, and shown up alot of classy cars with essentially a $1000 motor. No reason I can't use my other $1000 motor for a while. So start the removal tomorrow and see how we go. On another note, my mate with the VK pulled his motor down, looks as though he had a valve seat let go and smash a valve into a piston then travel into the next piston and etc... Ultimately his $14000 motor is worth scrap value. He thinks the heads may have had a little too much work resulting in weaker areas remaining. The heads were prepped by a bigger name drag mob in Syd, maybe not suited to circuit work. He is taking it surprisingly well. Makes me think my $1000 jobbies might do for a while. I will take some photos of the trailer when I get a chance, I bought it off ebay for $2k out of melbourne off ebay, I got it home and decided it needed more metal so strengthened it a heap, it is a converted caravan base. Needs brakes replaced and ramps made. I don't even want what I paid for it as i know it still needs some work. Just after I bought this trailer a good friend repayed a big favour and gave me his trailer, this is the trailer I use the other immediately was storaged.

Drive Bathurst is expensive but I hear everyone enjoys, but you must remember that there is people there with more money than ability. It is good because your not racing, but there is cheaper ways to do it. I think it adds up to 7500 if you do the week. Min is about 3500 I think. Intial research on dry sumps don't come in at under $3500- $4500. I am unsure if it was age or oil starvation, remembering that the motor had 220k+ on it before a cam and springs and regular 7000rpm. Have a big moroso sump, takes 8.5 ltrs and have never noticed a dip in pressure on cornering. I too am considering just windage traying big time in my pan, but it would be a shame to do another motor. Turn 1 at Eastern creek will kill most engines I hear. I was supposed to be there Sat.

Went to Wakefield again on Friday with my LS1 280zx. Lots of cars on the track so didn't get any great runs in before coming up on traffic, had my new rear brakes fitted - was looking to do a 1.05 or better but alas it was not to be. Although I have some footage of me eating almost everything there (think I even have footage of me blasting past a supercharged VE maloo in a straight line) Around lunch time my friend was out having a go when he pulled over with a large amount of smoke. Motor wouldn't even turn over once back in the pits. Someone appears to have climbed inside the motor and smashed the bottom end of my dipstick and left metal shavings in there. Also one spark plug re-gapped. So it appears that I have dropped a rod (yet to be confirmed - I will pull a head off tomorrow). Then after lunch a mate of mine with a 318 BMW with a toyota 2jz in it also ended up rattling. he also picked up a bearing on number 3 which has resulted in bore damage and head damage. Then to top it off another mate with a VK with about 400rwkw was playing at Eastern creek yesterday. did 10 laps first session, then went out for the second session and within 3 laps he also has picked up a bearing in the bottom end. So - we are all in the market for a dry sump set up. Luckily I have a spare bottom end sitting on a pallet in my workshop so my rebuild shouldn't amount to much more than the oil system we come up with. Was seriously considering a built bottom end but I think the investment may not be worth it. So in the short term you may see some adverts of me selling of some gear (VX calais with gen 3 with front damage, my spare 280z, my old VS ute, and a car trailer I bought as a spare.) Will keep you all up to date.

you can get a 22/50R15 relatively easily. next closet would be a 265/50 15 I think.

I personally honestly thought it would be at 30m.

Prob 290 or so kw atw. Was 260 before we changed exhaust and fuel system. Hasn't seen a dyno since intial build, all tuning done at track.

The Lakeside weekend was a real bad weekend for me, trailer broke out one of the suspension mounts near newcastle on the way home at 9pm. Oh and my wife who is 5 months pregnant rolled her 40tn dump truck at the mine the same day (unhurt luckily but scared the shit out of us both). So after throwing $1000 into the air for the lakeside weekend, then another $600 for new suspension in the trailer I was really happy to have a good day out. I definetly need to get my rear brakes sorted now as after looking yesterday my left rear was on metal for a while and the right rear has just run out. Going to try to get a mini 6 piston on a 330mm disk on rear. Also have to rip out my cage to get a proper full cage installed. Then maybe I might put some money away for a rebuild on the bottom end (still runs fine but getting a little smokey on the downshift - 230000kms old)

Yeah it sucks to have a track that can't really be utilised. I know my car improved by at least a couple of seconds with my new exhaust system. Also found this spreadsheet on laptimes at wakefield http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tADXtWYMAmoUeQu0VP6yGKQ

The rules at every track or event I have been to is 95 dba at 30m not 3m like they were measuring. Most road cars hit 90's at top revs when your that close. I have twin 3' dump pipes at my diff, it would have taken kilos of steel wool to quieten down a car that doesn't need quietening anywhere else. When I saw the Evo get pulled in was when I made the decision that the nanny like regulators would kill my day anyway.

We didn't bleed the cylinder first, which was half the problem, other half of the problem was that I didn't push the pedal till it came of the trailer, had a young fella sitting in the car while bleeding and he drove it onto the trailer for me. Still also had a bit of air trapped at the inside bleeder on the new 6 spots. I am pretty proud of my little car, ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing. Most people don't look twice at it till it starts, then the respect comes with the times. Going by the Wakefield website I am quicker than the improved production cars.

that first lap is a 1.06.8 the end lap (when memory card was full) is the 1.06.0

Haven't had a good reason to post since the Lakeside event a few weeks ago, for some who may have seen me I managed to get my car off the trailer but had catastrophic brake issues. Where once I had pressure on the trailer off the trailer I had no brake pedal. Tried to bleed for over an hour but to no avail, then I watched as 4-5 of the 9 cars in the first group were thrown off for excessive noise. There is no way they would have let me run, damn I think even my VE ute would get thrown of that track. So I put the car back on the trailer and drove the 1100kms back home. Lets just say a bad weekend. Finally sorted the brakes and headed down to Wakefield with a few friends today. My previous best was a high 1.08 - basically a 1.09. Straight up I was quicker and the time dropped all day. Finished with a 1.06.0.................... HOW HAPPY AM I.............. I should have a vid which I will upload as evidence for any doubters out there. Funny thing was I let 2 different mates have a go and they both did 1.08.6 and 1.08.8. It appears I may have a bit of a weapon. Prob upload vid tomorrow night as the minister for war and finance may need a little "me" time.

Car finally on the trailer on Thurs night at 11pm. So much for me leaving at 2am Friday morning, might need to catch up a little sleep. Brakes finally on but will probably need a re bleed sat morning. Damn my brakes almost look bigger than my wheels, 2mm gap with a 335mm rotor and 6 pistons - should be nice. See you all Sat morning. i will be the one you hear before you see.
-
sorry taking a run much further north to Lakeside

If you were a nice bloke Lurch you would have offered to pick up my car on the way through. I too will be arriving Friday night. I still have to get my brake thing sorted...... Changed plans again today now a 6 piston caliper on what is starting at 355mm rotor - will prob end up at @345mm. Unfortunately front only for this weekend. New Kumho v70a arriving tomorrow hopefully. Oil change, new leads and plugs and HAPPY DAYS.

Unfortunately we are an oprhaned lot, I was unable to find one for my car. You can get one out of the states but I was quoted about $900 just for shipping on a front spoiler.

THE NEXT STAGE OF MY DNA CONVERSION IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING. Had a set of HSV brakes that I was hoping to adapt to suit, but unfortunately they are not going to work. Now it looks like we are going to use some parts from a HZ, 330mm rotors from a VY and calipers from a EA falcon. for the front, and we are hoping to adapt a VE rear brake set up onto the rear. All parts have been mocked up and parts ordered today. By goin with my hybrid design we will elimate my 25mm spacer and still keep the same track width. Nothing like leaving things till the last minute, see you in QLD.

Wow you have alot of space between the block and the firewall, I ended up with a moroso sump in mine with it clearing the rack by on 2mm, still further back then yours. I reckon if you put a good seat and harness in there you would be 1 second quicker. And seriously, I think you should put a good rollcage in there, its not gonna be resistered so do it properly - intrusion bars and all. then or course build the bottom end and aim for 14-1 compression on E85. 500hp at the wheels would crank it a bit. Makes me wish I didn't get my wife pregnant, buy a house and have to paint it on the Easter weekend just been. Would have luved to give you a drive of mine... Caring is sharing. Can't get over how fat it looks. Good job

Don't worry mate, its great to have the win but some care more about the $8 trophy they hand out. It can get really narky out there, my local club (Bathurst Light Car CLub) have a great bunch of blokes, but there are a couple of tossers. I always enter myself in the toughest, nastiest class so there are no complaints, and I laugh hysterically at my mistakes, take the piss out of everyone and generally just show I am there for fun. If we wanted to be pro drivers we would be unloading our open wheelers that have our house mortgage papers attatched. Don't let them get to you, just put a nastier cam, bigger heads, run E85, put on some slicks and get some massive brakes. That will really give em something to complain about.
