The 260z is no longer for sale. I took it off the market due to change in circumstance.

Agreed, I don't know if "gilltech" actually read the first post but I certainly can't afford to register a vehicle that I'm never going to get the chance to drive on a regular basis. I'm sure I'm not the only person here that bought something with the intention of doing great things with, only to be thwarted by life and other trivial matters. Oh and by the way "Steel" is an alloy of Iron and Carbon(in general). Steal in the Informal sense is the word I think you were looking for, as in "something acquired at a cost far below its real value; bargain: This car is a steal at $17,000".

Hey G, how's it going? I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning, the more time I spent with it the closer I was to changing my mind.

Sorry, but I had the wrong contact number (I used to have two phones). I've corrected the issue and I'm very sorry to anybody that tried to call.

^^^This. I'm not a big fan of push rod V8's and certainly not keen on them in a Z. But I can honestly say that a 2+2 is a much better car for an old school V8, the extra weight in the ass plus the extra wheelbase = better balance, (It's still an issue but not as exaggerated as a SWB 2 seater).

Yeah the stock electric fuel pump is rather noisy. Now the fun begins. Like someone else posted before, have fun with it, you'll learn a lot as you go. As far as this forum goes, most people will only be too happy to help with advice and stuff but just remember 'Search' button is your friend. PS; IMHO, that spoiler is the wankiest thing I've ever seen, I hope you're not putting it back on? :-\

I'm in St Albans, not on the way at all sorry. You're most likely right, I never drive and have never owned an auto so "my bad", but all the 2+2's Ive owned and have seen had R200's and I just presumed they all had them because they were a bigger and heavier car. Good advice by the way.

Sorry mate that's a bit too far me (at least an hours drive). I'm sure there are members here that live in your area that could inspect it for you. I remember what it was like to be young and keen, investing in something I shouldn't have, and wouldn't have with the right advice. Good luck mate, let us know how you go.
-
Gav's right, it should have an R200 diff. If I were you I would definitely get the car checked out by someone who knows Z's. Where in Melbourne are you located? If it's not too far from me I could have a look for you.

That's a nice Z, and those seats look fantastic!!!

I love that movie it's a classic! In case you didn't notice my forum name, I'm a Z & Nissan/Datsun fanatic.

I'd say the oil pump has been removed or replaced at some point, and put back in 180° out, since the dizzy can only go in one way and is driven by the pump shaft. After stripping and cleaning my dizzy and replacing all the ignition components my car wouldn't start, so I set the engine to #1 TDC (you can see #1 cam lobes through the oil cap hole) and noticed the rotor pointing to number #5 instead of #1, so I moved the leads on the dizzy by 1 place and it fired up straight away. So mine is out 60° and I wasn't going to pull the oil pump just for that, I'll wait until I need an oil change or rebuild the engine.

Hi, the new wheels look great. My car needs a boob job too! What specs are the rims & tyres?

Thanks Scoota!!

Hi All, I'm trying to get a heater core, hoses, control valve and firewall fitting for my 76' 260z. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've got a set of HS6's which as you know are 1.75" with brand new needle and seats (viton) and float chamber gaskets. They're tuned for a stock L26 and run perfect, PM me if you want them I don't want much.

Wrecking 260z 2+2 most parts available SA Adelaide
Zedric replied to Fairlady Z's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Hi, did this Z have A/C? -
Allot of people on this forum don't seem to care about anti pollution gear. some of the quotes I've heard are just stupid. Evaporative emissions control is so simple and effective, why not use it. The only difference between my 76' 260Z 2 seater and a modern car is the modern car uses the ecu to tell the carbon canister to purge instead of a vacuum line. I love my 76' 260Z 2 seater for allot of reasons, metric dash, evap emissions control but, when it came to the air injection pump and manifold, it was seeya later. I new back then I could make it clean and efficient and when it came to getting it road worthy it passed the emissions test by a big margin. Now days with precise EFI fuel metering and cat's there is no reason to have a planet killer. Yes I know that even if I could develop a pure hydrogen fuel solution with zero emissions the heat alone would still be a factor, but at least I'm trying to be cleaner. Just a thought guys.

The only way that could be possible is if you are using a wider than standard rim, and yes it's a good thing.

From what I can remember from along time ago is there are 2 different octane numbers, 'RON' (research octane number) and 'MON' (motor octane number) which have a 10 point difference. And if that wasn't enough to confuse us some countries use a number that's an average of both? I think that's what our octane rating is but I can't remember. Pete obviously knows what he is doing and I hope we get to see and hear this magnificent piece of engineering. Can you imagine the sound of triple 50mm Solex carbs on this beast at full song?

His name is Jacek but people call him Jack, I remember (about 17 years ago). his engine was on the floor of Steve Newings shed and Sinisha's car was in there with L28 still in it .That yellow car was meant to be mine, I went to by the shell and an engine package from him, I made the mistake of getting excited about the rare shell and then he back flipped, kept the shell for himself and tried to tell me he was doing me a favor because it wasn't worth doing up. So I ended up with complete engine and drive line and nothing to put it in, man was I pissed!!! I remember him saying he would never put a G-nose on a Z, when I saw that autospeed article I thought
