  1. In my opinion I'd keep the S15 and add a squirt of 'new car smell' to the back seat. Buy a ps3 and Gran Turismo 10 (or whatever it will be soon) drive the 370z there, and keep the money in your pocket!
  2. My immediate thought on hearing of the 'manual gearbox blipping the throttle feature' thingy was 'Crikey that's going to give mechanics a headache and cost a fortune when it screws up'. Was it really necessary? It could have saved the car a few kilos I bet. And what's with the presenters highlighting the lack of a reversing camera? Honestly, how many cars have them and more to the point, does it really need one? Just more techno gadgetry to go wrong and cost you money. But overall it's a damn sexy looking car and I'd buy one in a flash
  3. I think the blue is a bit overpowering for an older car. The lime fits the era more IMO. Whichever way it will look good
  4. There's one on ebay at the moment, might be cheaper than buying from the states?
  5. Have you considered a 280zx? They're plentiful enough and cheap and the looks grow on you in time. Something to drive whilst you spend a few years searching for a 240/260 perhaps?
  6. Could be worse, could be the 'swine flu' Don't you just hate it when a rubber is all that's getting in the way of a good time
  7. Get your rotten fruit and vegetables ready to launch... I WISH IT WOULD BLOODY STOP RAINING SO I COULD WORK ON THE RUDDY CAR! Apologies for the rant, just thought I'd give you guys something to read. And yes, it sometimes does rain in the Riverina, just don't hold your breath waiting for it or you'll look like a shrivelled dried up cow pat! Is it raining where you are?
  8. Haha Might be cheaper to go to the newsagent hey?
  9. No worries, heck I'd take it of your hands if I lived in Sydney. Good luck.
  10. Nice one galderdi.
  11. Ebay might be a good bet. There's always parts cars selling cheap on there. Then you wouldn't have to part it out yourself.
  12. Geez I need to get more sleep or something! They both have black zeds in their photos. Apologies all.
  13. Mate I couldn't even sell mine without rust, and it runs, and it's registered. They don't want to know about it unless it's a 240/260. Sorry.
  14. Meaning I've seen xa1973 get fired up before when someone belittled 280zx's.
  15. Hahahaha! I knew I'd hook you xa1973, being an avid zedx lover!
  16. Well this one is definitely going to open a can of worms! I don't know much, but I know the desirability goes in this order; 1. 240z 2. 260z 2 seater 3. 260z 2+2 4. A rusty volkswagen with flat tyres and cigarette burnt seats 5. 280zx's Basically prices follow the same order.
  17. Even in Wagga, home of the old car (although that's changing fast), the only datto I've seen with a '2' in the model name, apart from my 280zx, is a brown 280c that stalls when it turns corners! Very entertaining to see such a 'once-was' sophisticated saloon behaving like this! Sorry for the hijack, but ebay is looking bare!
  18. Nah I don't think your mad. I would do it if I lived closer to the z gurus. As others have said it's great you're bringing another 240 back to life. It's the kind of car you keep forever once it's finished anyhow... so who cares what it takes! I chose the zedx because it was close by, had no rust, and it was a roller. If I were back in Sydney again and had a great big f'ing garage.... I'd have an s30 in a flash, regardless of condition!
  19. Aren't they rarer than 240z's though? That's the first time I've seen one in years, but it's the first time I've looked for one aswell!
  20. You've got me hooked on this thread now! I like your perserverance fella.
  21. It's a bloody worry isn't it.... they're out there.
  22. Hey guys I hope some of you may be able to help me with my zedx My 280zx (stocko everything) hasn't been driven that much and hasn't been registered for the last 5 or so years. It runs but runs pretty rough. It stumbles, hesitates and pops and backfires on acceleration, particularly at low speed after having turned corners for example. It accelerates hard at high speeds in the upper rev range and seems to have enough power, but down low is a dog. I've replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, checked the resistance of the injectors and high tension leads and looked at the dizzy cap. The fuel pump was replaced not so long ago according to the previous owner. I've run injector cleaner through it as well. It has valvetrain noise even though a mechanic mate I took it to 'checked the valve clearances'. Just wondering if you guys had any theories from past experiences. I have the factory service manual and I'm slowly accumulating all the tools but I need the advice of other zed freaks to point me in the right direction. Cheers.
  23. Hi guys I've been tinkering around in the engine bay for the first time almost (interior has beckoned- constantly!) trying to get zed to run smoother (stumbles on acceleration and backfires :-\) and after having found mismatched spark plugs, checked the resistance of the injectors and high tension wires and had a good stickbeak, finally found the distributor. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what/where the spade terminal on the vacuum controller is meant to go to. I can't find any reference in the FSM. Also, the distributor cap is marked "1" at the terminal where No 6 lead is attached. I hope it's not a stupid question but is it all arse about or something?
  24. You wouldn't think so seeing it ran on leaded (right?)
  25. xa73- is it a 240 or a 260? Is it a factory 260 turbo as the ad says?
