Some more interior in today plus fitted the retro mirrors. Had the first drive today from the back pergola up to the shed. Wouldn't hold in gear so thought I would try the 280 spring loaded shifter and presto it worked. Now have to cut and weld it to the shape of the old one as you bust your knuckles on the dash trying to get it in 1 3 5 gear. Cleaned all the carpet out of the parts car as they are near new and retired to the fridge and the PC to post this.

$240 for a new screen fitted , why bother trying to do it yourself. $20 cash to put the rear back in and I got to drink a six pack without lifting a finger.

Front and rear glass is in along with the dash. Just have to get the trimmer back to do the tunnel and install the panels and carpet. then seats in and off to get plates.

I have a set but not retracts in my 74 parts car. But for the cost it would be better to buy new ones. Try Hembro.

Holy crap, I didn't realise the cheese and kisses was in the pic. Now I am really in trouble. At least she comes in handy when I need a hand lifting things and holding things in place. She is a good TA.

Got most of the dash in today, Charging the battery so I can check the guages before fitting the centre of dash. Staqrting to come together at last.

Thanks for the input guys. I know where I went wrong by not painting the whole car at once and this is a back yard job but nothing that can not be fixed when funds are available so at the moment it will do. Thanks again.

Found my old belts and have figured it out. New belts did not come with the short drop links so have use the old links.

I may have figured it out. After painting the body I found the pick up in the spray gun was pointing to the rear. I turned it around to face the front which may be picking up more metalic when painting the guards. I am going to turn it back and try again. I don't know if this makes sense but due to the angle of the gun when spraying I assume more metalic would be in that area. Let you know how I go. :-\

Can any post pics of rear belt installed in a 75 2+2. About the only thing I forgot to do and my 74 parts car is different. Thanks in advance for any help. Have spent most of morning looking at build threads but can't find any of this part of car.

We have now named our Z "Joseph" I bought a eye patch today and it works wonders. Put on the left eye until you get to the door than put it on the right eye. Bingo the car looks great. At least I can joke about it. I can now see it in a plain BRG with silver stripes but for now the aim is to get it on the road and go for a drive, the repaint can wait until I retire or really get the shits with it.

Thanks for the info. I have figured it out. I will paint the bonnet red then no one will notice the guards. Have also penciled in my diary {2020} to repaint the whole car.

What to do when you paint in metalic and the panels are a different colour when not painted the same time. Painted the body some time back and now have painted the guards from the same tin but the colour is totally different. Preped the same and everything but the colour is noticeably different. Quite pis@@@ off. Will have to repaint the whole car as some stage but not now. Will never paint metalic again. Something to be said for plain colour.

Got the guards, buckets and rear hatch painted today. Should be on the road by Christmas if I am lucky.

The boards are moulded plastic. I have a set but shipping would be a nightmare for me. The shape also is different depending on the year.
