Big garage space really helps - just need to start unpacking all the boxes so i can get to the car!

"The Ugly Cousin gets a new home" After much frustration with the 260z project - due to the car being stuck outside and spending a hell of a lot of time overseas for work (in Australia - so that's all good) Btw - who's got the immuculate 240z i saw outside the Moreton Bay Regional Council a few weeks ago? Anyway - we've moved house and finally have the space to get serious about this After a little more stripping back - appears i have a few rust issues. The good thing being that the information supplied on this forum makes this look like a reasonable job to tackle. The doors on this are pretty buggered - but scored another set that are immaculate that have been on storage for the past 15 years, so that will save me a heap of work Looking forward to much more progress on this

i wondered how you did that. That is very bl@@dy clever!

Not sure about early 260z runners, but later 260z runners ate definitly different to 240z runners

SOLD,SOLD..Triple Mikuni/Solex carburetors
zrevival replied to MJC's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Just purchased these carbs - they were in really good nick. Really happy with sale and great guy to deal with Now - as this is no less than the 5th set of triples i've purchased for my z, i'm sure it will be the last (must stop changing my mind) cheers -
There appears to be a few LS1 projects turning up these days - i found a really well engineered LS2 project in Auckland a couple of days. As a consequence, unfortunatly i had real problems trying not to drool on it, and have had numerous sleepless nights rethinking my current Z project Question - is there an LS1/LS2 install kit available for this in Australia? or is this all custom fab'd??

You guys are legends! I'll let you know how i get on cheers K

Completely off topic - but have just done a bearing on the turbo of my BA XR6 Can't easily get a replace one in NZ without putting an extra mortgage on the house - but i'm flying to Melbourne tomorrow and need to know if anyone has any recommendations for decent ford parts in Melbourne. A second hand turbo would be ok as long as its in good knick - or a rebuilt one would be fine too. Any recommendations?

cheers - that's really useful. Karma added

Really useful photo's. if you did have a wiring diagram, that would be fantastic as well
-
I'd be interested in seeing a photo of your setup, and also some information about how you wired this to the fan setup. As a newbie to engine electrics, this would be useful Are you saying you have the switch mounted between the radiator fins as opposed to directly in the radiator itself?

Wow - those look outstanding. If i was in the country, i'd definitly buy them

Thanks for the replies - although i'm probably now more confused. Just to clarify - the 260z housing has a water pipe outlet that i need to get rid of. The 260z housing also has two switches on it; 1. A one wire version (same as the 240z) 2. A two wire version - not sure what this is for I've tried unscrewing the pipe outlet - so i can block it off, but it appears to be chemically welded into the housing and if i put anymore presure on the housing (while screwing the pipe outlet) - i'll likely crack it. The 240z housing only has one switch (temperature sender) however (and no water pipe outlet) - which solves my problem, hence i would like to change to that one. So the question really is - on the 260z housing what does the second switch (the two wire one) actually do? - and can i live without it?? This was a factory air conditioned car - which is now removed, so i was hoping that the second two-wire switch was one i didn't need.

I'm looking to change my late model 260z thermostat housing to an earlier 240z one as the 240z version does not have an outlet for the water heating of the carburator system (swapping to triples - so don't need it) The 260z thermostate housing version has two switches however - one to the temperture guage (yellow wire) and a second one with a ground wire and another output wire (orange - from memory). What does this switch do - and more importantly can i live without it? If so - what do i need to do to the orange wire if i don't install the second switch thermostat housing??

Mate - i'll take it. See PM sent

Ok - some progess over the past few weeks. Much slower than expected - but getting there. Front guards, headlight buckets, hatches and cowling panel painted in 3M midnight blue. All bolted back onto the car to see if i liked the colour - which i do. All will receive a full repaint and final topcoat once full car is repainted Front ZG flares and new spoiler to be added this weekend - weather permitting New 'reg cook' N42 head, with Stage 4 cam bolted on along with triple manifold and headers Weber 45's still to be added (sitting in garage) Hopefully will get this thing fired up again in the next couple of weeks. Manual gearbox conversion - a ton of bodywork and full repaint still to come
-
yep - purchased by credit card, posted to NZ within the week All good - and much cheaper than i expected
-
New n42 head to be added to the L26 block, which has been really well flowed New Stage 4 cam added - as well as cam tower shims Welded cambers means i'll stick with the dished pistons to try and lower the compression. Should be somewhere around 10.5 compression Head and triple 45 webers should be on the motor this weekend
-
cheers - that helps
-
The 9.5" wheels had an offset of +6 from memory - so they weren't very 'deep dished'
-
Thanks for the offer on the rims - it took me 3 seperate sets of rims to get the look i wanted with these. So won't be selling in the near future The simmons rims i ended up with up with were orginally gold in colour - so took them apart and repainted them silver. Pretty happy with the result Note - in the photo the rear rims are 9.5" wide and still sit within the 2+2 guards. Got some new outer rims for the 3 peice wheels that were an extra 25mm wider
-
yes - my l26 looks like that too - with the notches on the exhaust port side If you didn't have the overbore - would you have needed bore notching for the inlets using the N42?
