im still amazed at how cheap the aussie zeds are. i got a fairlady too and the oz prices dont come near the japs. p.s. doudou: very sweet! love the coloured engine bay, she looks absolutely the finished article.
-
noooo, my dad used to call me the firestarter because of my inability to start a fire in the fireplace, when i touch things, they break. fair enough, ill be home in a few days again, ill clean the sparks and unplug and replug things. but ive an electrical thing that flared up yesterday too, but it was soaking wet and water may have shorted something. any chance that may be doing something?
-
might be that either. im not touching it, ill wait till ive a carb guy sorted and watch him and learn. but it was great for 50 miles after, then i left it idling for a while before i met gav and as i drove off... maybe gav did something, i hate you gav. ha, i make joke. in fairness, we were poking around the engine bay, but not very much

hey man, im only up, been asleep since i posted that 1st post. told you i was tired. regarding my avatar, you should have seen me pre-haircut last week, very beetlejuice! when i was driving away, i was surprised at how bad the engine sounded, it was great driving to harolds cross, think the rolling road really knocked something out. my uncle has a guy that looks after old rally cars, he should know someone that tunes carbs. ill get it fixed and take you for a spin some day to a place were you can spin it. still not a fan of the black inserts, grey maybe and i mean light grey like the grey Z picture. chrome is hard to get on plastic in ireland, but ive seen them in the Us for very little. so i might just replace. i reckon since our meet, the distributor will be 1 of the 1st things brakes will do till they are worn, then ill get the rears converted to discs and upgrade the fronts then. interior, all i need are original seats instead of buckets and get the carpets. think the carpets are only 2/300 dollars US. and a clean. bodywork? if i win the lotto, shes straight but i would love to strip it back, just to make sure. but there is no need to. oh yeah, a lot of rubbers around windows and doors are tired, can get them in america for little enough money too. all depending on the work situation here. engineering isnt great here at the moment

just met gav today in dublin. im sorry i was so wrecked, but it was great to meet the person that seriously got me thinking about Zed cars, by showing that lovely red datty in your avatar. theres loads of classic shows on in the summer and theres going to be a datsun stand in ballymena up north, hopefully jay from wicklow will deffo go and we can all meet. anyway, great meeting you and getting a small glimpse into a world of Zed that awaits me. p.s. that rolling road did something bad to her, awful lumpy drive home. will get the carbs looked at early next week. ok, ars*! licking is over! niall

am stealing this from the classic z car club. have you ever found yourself driving about to either see or be stopped by bystanders thinking your z is a porsche. once i was passing through navan town and (since i only got the z, was driving with the windows down, looking for reactions) saw 3 teenagers looking at me. i think i heard them, but i "lip read" the word porsche, as in, look at that porsche. i thought it was funny anone else get this. there seems to be plenty of this on the other site...but that is largely american based...

i didnt interrogate him now, wait till the weekend for that. said it was restored in england, the guy brought a clean US shell over and worked away. but i get the feeling that its been driven feck all. speedo on the advertisement says "0" miles, but sure mine had that, but it had a "2008" tax disc on it, and its been in the garage since october at least. but where its been cleaned (and the paint is perfect) there is a lot of grime around the windows, between the rubber and the body, now i didnt pay much heed at the time, but im wondering how long has it been stored. must look on the english Z club. it has a sticker from there on it, might have a project thread

just saw the car a few hours ago, very clean, still not sold. am gonna head down again on saturday and compare cars properly

ill keep my eyes open on the forums and car shows this year, thats all i can do.

hey hey, ive got some ground breaking stuff, i think its only in the movie for 3 seconds, but im sure its a Zed its blue, you can make out the wolfrace wheels, side indicator, right hand side headlamp and front indicators you can see part of the side profile, from nose and just about make the roofline too. if you have the original GONE IN 60 SECONDS, its after 51minutes into the film, just as the main character takes the uninsured eleanor back from their storehouse. ive looked in imcdb but no luck, wikipedia doesnt mention the car, but its a low budget movie and may have snuck into the line up... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gone_in_60_Seconds picture video (i think this may help, my connection is slow, but this is the scene) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMLSjmjTlqc

yeah, ive seen this car. i thought it was original, but its restored, seriously clean. wonder how he came to that price? was thinking of driving over to contrast and compare. you up for that gav?

just after crunching the numbers L28 with triple solex carbs in a 78 Zed 15.55 litres / 100km 6.43 km / litre 18.16 mpg(imperial gallon) this was a mix of highway cruising, but there was a lot of squirting too, more than intended. next 2 runs will be an economical trip to empty the tank and a rip roaring adventure to see how bad it can be!
-
finally getting around to checking my consumption. will stick it up later when the tank is finished off and i go to the pumps, but at the moment im guessing 20mpg or 15litres / 100km. this on standard 95octane pump petrol. with bouts of rip roaring acceleration and cruising on main roads, the way i normally drive. warning: this is an extremely rough guess and may veer dangerously on the optimistic!
-
great attachments lads, keep the .pdfs coming! will be much appreciated in time
-
Hakosuka! also, maybe a race / drift prep 240z lookalike!
-
fuck it, gonna take her to a local guy, he knows shit inside out and will sort it out. thanks for all the help!

@zedophile: thanks man, oh yeah, no offence, im quite happy to advertise my novice stature, so when i say something stupid, itll be understood, and pity will be laid unto me! was asking my uncle about the re-wiring, ...money!, so nevermind. i think ill replace any wrong coloured sections alright. i checked the voltage to the rear of the offending bulb and its wired correctly and drawing 11.5 volts to high only when beams on and 11.5volts to low only when on dim. which all sounds right. i cleaned the contacts at this last place and still, beam is weak. to re-cap dim: L & R = ok full beam: L dims further, R = ok now ill try moving the earth and upping it in the morning on the L side. pain in the arse, chat to ye tomorrow
