No wonder you are having so much trouble tuning them, took me ages to get them even to 70% and then the electronic ignition went on "KAPOW" A Japanese Symphony under the bonnet! -

Yes straight from tank to filler neck, the tank you describe is just an expansion tank for pressure build up in the later models with all the fiddly emission gear.

My datsun mad friend over the road has this genuine steering wheel for sale. The surface rust was coming off with my fingernail and it has no cracks in the wheel. He's open to offers.

Just another update and more delays but i will speak to the owner of these parts soon. On the same topic i must tell everyone that the 2 Sets of indicators i did get off him have been sold.
