  1. Sandblaster time. I like the sandblasters, it means progress Because the car would be back at the sandblasters we only got them to do the minimum needed
  2. Picked up today, thanks David for organizing everything, bumpers look awesome
  3. Any updates? these must be close
  4. POR would be enough but after welding I'll re-sandblast & then re-POR, There are a few spray/wax type products available, I use one of them And No you can't weld through the POR
  5. So Rob had me chase down a set of front guards, I ended up getting them from Vinny on this site, they were 2+2 and were used to remake the rusted out rear guards for my car. The front guards fit the opposite side on the back with the spare steel to cover the dog leg area. Rob did all of this including cutting out my original guards, no room for error here All of the parts that I'd removed from the car I sandblasted and Painted with Por Larger panels were sent to the big sandblasters Some of these replacement parts here Rob made himself Rob also replaced some of the rusted out edges of the roof skin and some small parts on the rear guards
  6. A link to some hi-res pictures posted on another site http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2011/02/earthquake-in-new-zealand/100013/
  7. At this stage most of the work was done by myself under Rob guidance, I've gotta give Rob a big thumbs up, Very generous guy willing to teach me and show me how and why Rob has done stuff like reassembled both doors and straightening of the floors after welding, stuff that I'd make worse by attempting myself. In the pic's to follow, Reassembly of the shell was done by Rob, but most of the time I was standing beside him helping where I could.
  8. Front sections removed Rusty areas of wiper area removed It was finally decided that the rear guards would need to come off as well, No point going this far and leaving them on The rear tail light panel was also removed Just when you thought you couldn't remove anything else the support for the rear hatch was removed and replaced with steel to keep everything in the same place Definitely a low point in the build. Looking more like a few pieces of steel than a car, but on the plus side it can only get better
  9. Thanks Pete got mine today, very nice work much appreciated
  10. Yeah that's the idea, Under the rocker cover is very clean (no oil brown stain, even the bottom-end bearings looked ok) head looks port matched Previous owner said it was pulled apart to do up also I forgot to mention I don't have the exhaust/intake carby setup If no one here grabs it, It'll go on e-bay
  11. Here's a picture of the compressor Brabham
  12. I have an L26 I need gone, I have no use for it's a P30 Block and E88 head. Has the P3040 crank and E30 cast into the cam. It's a rebuild or parts engine only, It came with my car in a box and I reassembled it to make sure all the part were there Pickup only East of Melbourne. As per pictures below. I'm not sure what it's worth so asking $100. I also have other pictures of engine parts before it went back together I also have the starter motor and a spare complete top end (E88head) send me a PM
  13. So after seeing up behind the drip rails it was decided that the roof skin had to come off... dam Apart from the roof skin coming off so easy I was very surprised at how heavy it was once removed
  14. I'd be interested in this, all ways wanted to know how you guy's get the panels so flat
  15. Removed more parts from engine bay brake booster/clutch support randoms rebuilding p/s front guard support (on the very right in above picture)
  16. 1000hp zed is easy, making it last more than 10 minutes not so easy
  17. Yeah drilling out spot welds is relativity easy but you only get one chance of fixing the problem (of rust), because once re-welded it is incredibility difficult to get apart again, the rear of my car had been repaired before and dam was it hard getting the welds apart. almost destroyed the panels And Simon the plan was to turbo the Toyota V8 but Victoria's rules are a bit grey atm I think 2.8L is the largest turboed conversion that is allowed in a 240z Problem is I'm going for club reg so I'm not sure if I have to follow Vicroad's rules or not, I'd rather a nissan turbo six in there anyways, keep it in the family
  18. Don't worry it gets a lot worst....... then a lot better I have more photos to post of progress but at this stage work has stopped on this zed because of the change of rules regarding engine conversions since I started the build. The Toyota V8 I planed on using is no longer going to meet the needs of what I want, so at this stage I'm thinking RB25DET conversion. Just have to work out cost's involved and rules, I don't want to sink 5-10k into a conversion to find I can't get it registered because the rules changed again
  19. I'm guessing it's popular, because it no longer works Found this on the web site Bandwidth Exceeded "This page uses too much bandwdith and has been temporarily shut down. Please check back in a day or two"
  20. Dam I could spend hours playing with this, who ever thought of this is an odd person indeed
  21. Rear hatch looked ok with no rust showing but I decided to pull it apart and do it aswell worth it, most of the inside of the hatch looked like bare steel
  22. Drip rails were removed to find more rust
  23. Now that the floors were completely welded and the shell had some strength back it was time to start removing more rust affected areas,
  24. Update floor to tunnel welded rails welded
