no-one else interested :'( happy to assist in interstate transport

Circumstances dictate I must put up my 240Z for sale I have owned it for 10 years and have poured a lot of money into it,driven it rarely and it has always been garaged Fitted with an RB30ET which was a full rebuild including head and T3 Garrett turbo,Wolf 3d with hand controller, front mount intercooler, mandrel bent stainless exhaust,7 L baffled sump,MX7 Turbo 5 speed, new HD clutch, ventilated front discs and big alloy calipers, non vented skyline rear discs,HD radiator(never runs hot even in traffic in WA summer),1/2" fuel lines including new pick up in tank, standard polished rims and new bridgestones..........mechanically this car is as brand new, starts easily, idles smoothly, drives smoothly and is very quick(i also have another 240Z with a Boss 302 V8 in it,the turbo Z anihalates it in the performance stakes yet can be driven around like a shopping trolley off boost.....i've even lent it to my mum to drive!!) As for the body,it is a genuine example that has not been butchered or flaws covered up,it was painted professionally with the motor/interior out by the previous owner 10 years ago so what you see is all there is to see, nothing nasty lurking,it has one or two minor rust areas....one is the panel near the wipers(visible in pic which can be removed with 4 screws and replaced,i have a spare, the other is in the passenger door, near back edge just above where the door lips out before the sill(just visible in pic 7),frame is good, few bubbles evident in one spot.No rust in the hatch or around the tail lights, none around the screens, none in the guards, none in the chassis or floorpan, none around the suspension mounting areas. I had a quote to completely redo all the imperfections and repaint it by a guy in Perth who does all the hotrods,a real craftsman who only does show quality work, for $3200,but feel that if I was buying I would want to see it before the work so I new what I was getting....even though it may not be so appealing from a sales point of view(I am assuming you guys are as fanatical as me) Needs new carpets,as usual dash has a crack or two Registered in WA Don't really want to sell this part of my life so won't be giving it away, looking for $16,500 BTW the pics were after a quick wash and chamois not a full on detail for sale pics

haha,30 years of changes can be pretty confusing ,but you can't go wrong with the chassis number and year of manufacture.....well not usually anyway a simple way to point you towards a 240Z is the fact the hatch only had one gas strut, rear taillights different, vent system in the dash had a slotted cylinder rather than two square vents, non vented bonnet,no storage compartments with flip up lids behind seats in the hatch area,no inertia reel seatbelts, shorter rear strut towers above info is what i have observed personally over time and from memory, please don't take it as gospel

the 280zx coupe-2 seater- would be more unique, seen a few in WA including one licensed with a 400 chev, the body/chassis is far more rigid for big HP transplants, there was one on ebay recently that starred in the fat pizza tv series

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200124834617&rd=1, ???? anyone have similar genuine ones for sale....PM me

me too...i need 2 of 'em....dare i mention it,how about a group buy
-
the real problem with VLSD's are that they have a special type of input shaft(one is about 1-1.5" longer than the other) and none others can be used.....this poses a problem when trying to match them up to half shafts-but that is a whole 'nother can of worms lsd R200 out of an early 300zx turbo is the easiest solution.....hence the rarity of these items :'( good luck with it
-
thanks man, i would love to take credit for them but i bought the car as is,gtr(old school that is,lc/j torana ) items i beleive, you used to be able to buy them as a graft-in panel back in the day, probably still can at somewhere like rare spares, would be an easy addition with a mig later

i have a 240z that has a windsor V8(since 1984),very light compact motor, plenty of room, stroker kits to take it to 347cu.in cheap in your part of the world, alloy heads work wonders just remember that a repowered Z requires better brakes though  other than that they are the perfect street car combination
-
looks pretty straight compared to the roads in tassie when i was there on holiday  got sea sick.....on dry land, quite an experience, was up near cradle mountain, locals don't seem to slow down though...made me feel quite like a grandad

nat0_240_chevZ i had a look at an r200 lsd out of an r32 gtr(rear diff) yesterday...... -my 280zx turbo 1/2 shafts are 29 spline stubs -the gtr stubs were 30 spline 2 of us counted them 3 times each, there was no mistake the 280 stubs did slide in and felt ok however my maths says 30/29=trouble searched and found a guy on hybridz saying this ^^ as well anyone who thinks they can get the gtr lsd carrier to work and wants to buy the above mentioned diff let me know -

anyone actually used an R32 GTR rear R200 LSD carrier in their long nose S30 R200 with S30 halfshafts(ie not using the GTR stubs)? my research says it's not possible due to a different spline count on the stubs....30 on the GTR and 29 on the S30's anyone refute this?? -
some fiery replies guys  on a lighter note in answer to the post..... ......at least $5 grand

couple of other options i've used for front brake improvements..... VT commodore discs(redrilled to 114.3x4 to slip over the Z hubs/longer wheelstuds, need the hubs machined for an interferance fit with the hole in the commodore disc to keep it perfectly centred) used with VT calipers(nice big aluminium ones, need to weld up the original alloy mounting holes and redrill to suit the Z caliper mounts)then bolt on,offset increases by width of disc as it fits over the original hub....hve to use 15" wheels ,new discs and pads worth $100 from supacheap autos any day of the week and a snap to change once the wheel is off!! Valiant discs and calipers, about 1976/8 ?VH ?model, preferably with new DBA discs undrilled so you can drill to suit 114.3x4,only mod to fit otherwise is to enlarge the hole in the centre of the disc or machine the hub to fit inside the disc...rest bolts up/on XF falcon discs and TE/F cortina calipers, machine down the discs in diameter to fit under the bolted up cortina calipers, wheel stud pattern redrill or get new DBA discs undrilled all above need the 15/16" 280zx master cylinder....if it's an early 240Z you may need to reverse the f/r lines that go to the m/c all above has worked for me,no guarantees given and no liability accepted :?
