Hi Guys The NDSOC is again hosting a combined event with the FORD XR8 club at the DECA skid pan in Shepparton This is a great fun event with a number of motokhana style challenges on the skid pan and a go/stop sprint on the back track. Plenty of tyre smoke and the odd car on two wheels ! A very cheap day out with Entry at $90, L2 liscence required No helmets required and passengers are permitted PM me if you are intersted as entries are filling fast (30 max from each club) cheers Alan

If you can find a clean rust free 280 with low km's and history and get it for under $12k then I would grab it. I paid big $$$ for my series 1 one owner with 96000 km on the clock and after 18 months of almost daily driving it has been faultless. (now got 108000 km on it) Most of the cars I looked at were full of rust and had been badly neglected and they still wanted $5-6k.............so IMHO pay more for a better car and you won't regret it. Also the white with the red interior seems to be the most desirable colour combo as it has not dated as much as the browns/blues etc. (look at the latest SLK Benzes...........white with red interior is "back baby") Alan

Guys To clarify what has occured in the past (for all Natioanls events that I have attended since 1993) The base entry will cover the welcome BBQ on the Friday evening, a show bag of goodies, the Saturday Nav Rally and the Sunday Show n Shine event. The track day will be one of optional extras on top of the base Nationals Entry fee ...ie. you must enter the Nationals event and add the track day on as an event option (same Sunday night presentation dinner, etc) ...........weather you actually attend the Sunday event is up to you. The track days are always over subcribed so it is unfare to offer those as a seperate entry as those wanting to attend the entire event may be disadvantaged and miss out . cheers Alan

Linton I found BNIB VG30T injectors from the US for > $400 landed in Aus for a complete set .........you can also get injector plugs for around $2.50 each ...........so there is really no need to modify fuel rails or wiring looms etc . Also rear spoliers were only fitted to Turbo models or they could be ordered as an option from the dealer on a non turbo at additional cost. cheers Alan

As far as performance (power) goes, you would be hard to pick which is better, the autos are the same three speed sludge box and the power very similar with the L28 having more torque to over come the extra weight. The fuel injection is generally trouble free and reliability should be first class if the car has been well maintained ...........the issue tends to be rust in the body, but both 260 and 280 can suffer from that. My 280zx series 1 auto is a great weekend cruiser, surprising nimble thru the twisty stuff and far more comfortable than an earlier 260z station wagon (My 280zx has the vulgar red velour interiour.........much like a Parisian Brothel!.............maybe that's part of the attraction ). The power steering, aircon, targa roof, electric windows etc make it a far beeter drive IMHO.............although I would not have dreamed of owning a 280zx 20 years ago (I thought them a bloated barge) ...........but now in my mid forties.........I'm lovin'it Al.

As Jason has said L2S Cams license is required for P.I (AASA lisences may be accepted but will have to wait until the sup regs are issued to confirm) We issued 1 day licenses at the 2007 event ......I'll have to check with our Comp sec and let you know if we will be doing this again cheers Alan

Scrutineering at the 2007 event was outsourced -whilst we do our best do get all the cars through ASAP we still get held up by a number of first timers who are not familar with presenting cars to the scrutineers- no matter how much information we provide people still turn up with a car full of crap- spare tyres, glove box full etc ....................all this stuff holds up proceedings. We will be doing our best to ensure people are better prepared and that we have more scruineers on hand. On saying that we had trouble filling grids by the end of the day with some having five runs ......so I'd say the majority of entrants got their monies worth Al.

G'day Lochy We are still getting costs together at this early stage and are very conscious of keeping entree fees to an affordable level and to what is sustainable (so the NDSOC does not go broke in the process.) General entry similar to that of the 2007 event which will include an entry pack and entry to the Show n Shine event. Options will include entry the Friday welcome BBQ,Saturday Sprint (approx $200) Sunday presentation dinner,Nav rallye and possibly a Trivia/Auction night on the Sat night (if we can find a cost free venue) . We do not have all the costs in as yet (council permits, event merchandise, sponsors etc) so we are probably around 8-10 weeks away from firming up prices and printing entry forms. There is still a great deal of work to be done however we will get there and it will be sure to be a sebsational event and be bigger than the 2007 Nats cheers Alan

Cleaning out the shed Datsun 240z carbs with all linkages and original airbox. (three screw domes) Refurbished 5 years back and only used for a few weeks before removing (installed triple Mikuni's) Carbs and ready to bolt on and run (may need fresh oil in the dampers) Carbs have SL needles installed to suit high comp L26, other needles available as required (exchange) Dyno tuning recommended to get the needles matched to the engine As a side note- our engine and chassis dyno tests have proven that the standard 240z air box if far more efficient (more mid range power) than ram tubes alone or pod filters. The should be a fairly large NDSOC crowd down there, the Prince "mafia" have a club display I believe Sprint entry is $195............a bit steep for 3 runs along the 1/4 mile

Even if it was commercially viable for Nissan to bring out a "modern version" of the S30 , the external shape would now be heavily influence by the latest ANCAP safety and design rules. Look at the modern incarnations of old cars ( VW Beetle, the Mini, Fiat Bambino (500) to name a few) - all have integrated bumbers , air bags a plenty etc and mostly built on floor plans shared by other models. To reincarnate an early Zed into a moden version would either by heavily compromised in that it would have to share a platform (not really possible as there are no other Front Engien RWD cars of similar dimensions in the Nissan range (that I know of) or be so costly to produce that it would defeat the purpose of being an " inexpensive" light weight sports car.
