i thought ill make a contibution to this. i love porsches and the cayman even if has the design styling similar to the 240z i dont like the big roudness of the roof at front. Another car that i think pinched some design cues from 240z is the Hyundai Tiburon. After seeing one this morning on the road. i know its a hyundai but it is a failry good looking car. pitty its front wheel drive. it has the similar rear 1/4 window trratment and flowing roof. the blue one is the latest facelifted model but i think the yellow one looks even better and its the previous model. i do agree manufacturers are going back in time looking at sucsessfull models and taking their design cues. as reflected on many new cars. though i wouldnt want to see a 240z copy come again to market but a similar looking one would be nice. the aero issues can easily get fixed. just check the new mustang perfect example new looking like retro.

im here. yeah wha t nato said pretty much. i wasn a fan of cutting chuncks out of the cross member or drilling massive holes. bit lazy to post a pic but here is a ling from the other forum http://www.thezgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=601 all i did is made few dents using oxy set and big hammer. rotated the power head 180deg and new pipes bent up. sloted the rhs engine bracket and reinforced fromt the inside. just under 3 turns from lock to lock. though looking at he mx5 looks bit easier. but mazda parts a xpensive. i got my rebuild subi for $180 with the mods to the pipes.

FENDER MIRRORS - WHERE TO GET THEM???????????
RBZ 260 replied to Sooley's topic in General Discussions
Ask ur local nissan dealer. thats how i got a set for myself. One was in melbourne and other one got ordered from japan. So they got the melbourne one dispatched next day to adelaide and the other one came withing 5 days from japan total cost just under $270 for a pair. expensive but worth it. should be a pic of it somewhere on the forum. or check http://www.thezgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=553&highlight=fender+mirror the lower pic is the one i got. -

few more things back into their place. getting closer to finishing.still mountain of work to do but mostly interior and wiring inside tha cabin -
Happy new year to u too. Ive been making my own exhausts for a while now. though i can only give u a tip where too look but u have to find it in melbourne as im in adelaide so kinda defeats the purpose. i found that in adelaide the chepeast and best place was diesel exhaust place or truck exhaust place, u got everything under the sun there. flanges mandrel bent pipes from 1.5" to massive 6" also can get bits and pieces to make ur custom mufflers. mild steel to heavy duty stainless stuff. and prices were a lot cheaper than any exhaust place around here. also they have rubber for intercooler pipes and heavy duty clamps and i mean heavy for same price as the cheap supercheap auto ones or bunnings. im sure melbourne has few of these around. if helps the name is Diesel Exhaust they may have a branch in vic. if i go past next day or so ill pop in and ask if they have a branch there.

well i originaly typed this post to disagree with this combo but i see the point after getting more details about the setup from a family member that had one. aperrently its not as expensive for reasonable power increase if not going to extreem levels. as i said my cousin HAD a worked rb30det with rb26 head. straight from horses mouth: made 570hp @rw on 19psi boost on premium unleaded did 10sec @140mph in a modified VL calais. in slightly more tuned form made 784hp @rw on 32psi on c16 and times 9.30 @148mph still on board he had 150hp nitros shot but it was never turned on the race track or the dyno just didnt seem reliable enough to take the risk. last comment DOESNT LAST! cracked engine block several times but he was pushing almost 800hp out of a how he said not bad from a family sedan engine. though still not as cheap as rb25 or rb26 straight conversion but for 500hp should be good setup that will last a bit if all done right.

bit late on reply sorry was on holidays. i hada similar thing in a honda prelude. though only reverse seemed a problem but other aspect was when reved hard vibrations could be felt and heard. clutch was worn as well as the bush believe it or not honda doesnt supply so had to get one made. HINT NEVER BUY HONDA. though solved the problem and sold the damn car straight after. though i had clutch problems and box problems galore with my s14. Well doesnt help with launching hard and shifting like theres no tommorow. 3x s14 gboxes 1xdiff and 3x heavy duty clutches RIP. pretty much now i know whats wrong and whats next on the list. i smell another gbox comming up  hear a clunking noise when in neutral. when u press the cluch the noise goes away. had this problem before i was told it was the thrust bearing after a quick blast down the road it spat the dummy "the box not the bearing" and totaly ripping of 4 gears lot of metal came out when the plug got drained. was like jackpot in pocker machines. the thrust bearing was still ok but new clutch come in at the same time so it was all replaced. still have the box with all the gears stripped off teeth. quite impressive. that was first box second had similar faith but i never heard any noise. damn that was quiet gbox.

hmm funding a project is hard also when u have another 2 lined up. though it all started being bored over long weekend. and decided to buy a old car and "do up" initial budget was set to 5k. ie cheap car under 1k another 2k to bring it back to life 1.5k for engine and box and other items ie 1k. well didnt have money saved up but tax returns help a lot plus little work on the side help fund it (on the side: ie fixing and repairing things for other ppl buying selling cars).though a full time job helps with cash but time is only limited few hrs after work and weekends. so loong project. another tip is do it your self. if u know how to u save heaps. shop around. invest in tools if u think u can do it your self. tools are always needed and never waste of time. buy good stuff so it lasts.lucky my late father left me with knowledge and fair amount of tools and a workshop. though the initial estimate of 5k is blown out of proportion more like 8k at the moment and probably another 2k by its all finished. in meantime i still managed (tax return) to buy 2 other cars and an engine for one of them. though weekly i spend at least 100 on car. as for miss well im engaged but not living with her so there arent any issues. though shes bit of a petrol head too spending few $$$ on her own car but once the house statrs getting build it will slow things down in car department . ( reason y im stocking up now  ) though she doesnt like my 260z she does like the 240 and she wants to get a 350z once we finish the house. and shes not forcing me to sell any of the other cars either. TIP: get a chick that likes cars or suffer in hell (if u are car nut that is).do your priorities and if want happy relationship at home put cars second. they wont run away. just increase in value

yep complete r32 a/c. well not exactly i adapted all the electronics from r32 a/c to 260z a/c box. the r32 a/c box was too big. so most of the cabin hardware is still s30 but the electric motors now operate the flaps and valves. instead of the vacum diaphrams and leavers. though not sure what the condensor came from but i had it floating around so made use out of it. as for dash yeah im also considering removing the rectangular center vent and installing 3x round ones same one as the one on each side than have the a/c controll and than a strip of warning and indication lights than maybe touchcreen if it fits. if not just a normal cd player. and than two other guages. before the gear shift. hopefully all fits. EDIT: Pic added and some more details. The round vents are from 1980's Mercedes Benz W123 Series Modified 260z center vent garnish.

TRUE Sulio. i mean thats silly selling ht car cause u worried about scratches. pitty its been transformed into something that it never be. it was probably worth more as a z than a copy of a ferrari. though mine sits low now and looks good but i wanted some nice deep dish rims. plus yours looks sick so i may think about it for the time being. see which looks the miss preffers but if im installing rb26 than flares are on i need big rubber at the back. so if i need choping chopping it is. dont plan to sell it and i dont believe in stock cars so....... anything is possible. it all rest on the condition of the l28 n42/n42 settup with dual carbs. apperently has a bigger cam and some head work. does have extractors but the head gasket is gone. after assesing the damage than the faith wll be sealed. either retro or full mod got to get my new garage made first before anything gets touched on the 240z.

yeah it came with the deal with half cut. the guy was desperate to sell so it was on my conditions. pretty much i took everything of it and what i didnt want i returned back (well only thing left was front end of the chasis from the donor r32 i removed everything including the dash ,clips, bolts, screw even choped brake lines  all i returned was the subframe and rack (sometimes i though should have kept the rack too) lot of if has migrated to the 260z pretty much its r32 runing gear in a 260z shell. i even used the ignition lock and switch.reliability issues with z ones. what i wanted is modern car inside with 70s styling on the outside. and hopefully to be bit faster than my current daily driver s14a 200sx. which also has jdm climate controll fitted. took me over a week to wire that puppy. close to 150 wires to be rewired and sensors put in. thank god for the service manual. i can replicate the kit mechanical bits to fit which most part would be exchangable wthout removal of the dash or the a/c unit. but u will need the head unit and complete a/c box of r32 with the wiring that suit. also probably need the compressor from r32 to use the econ feature. as it has 3 wires on the compressor compared only 1 on the 260. so if adapting to the original wiring may be bit of a headache but nothing is impossible. hope u good friends with an electronics buff otherwise big $$$.
