  1. Well my application is in, will be getting new tyres this week (finally) and have already fitted an extinguisher. Just need a couple of little things sorted on Saturday and will be ready for Sunday. Anyone else from here entering?
  2. $100! Getting another washer bottle I can understand would be difficult, but if you find a used one with a stuffed motor I bought a generic motor from Supercheap Auto that went straight in, just needed to mod the wiring to suit. Costed about $20.

    Heavy steering

After rebuilding the motor a few weeks ago I had a look at the steering rack and loosened the pre-load on it, which has made a noticeable difference. Loosening it all the way lets the steering wheel jump around on un-even surfaces. Ball joints are fine, and an alignment will be done with new tyres in the next few weeks which should also help a lot. Thanks for your help guys.
  4. Mike, I've sent my car club and CAMS rego papers off, but the only thing holding me up is my tyres. They are pretty low, not quite down to what I think are the 'markers' but still pretty low. If I post a photo of them would you be able to give me an idea whether or not they'd pass scrutineering? It's just I don't have the money this week for tyres and i don't want to fork out the entry fee if I can't get my tyres past inspection. Thanks,
  5. Hi Mike, Sounds good, i've just gotta join my old club and get a CAMS license by then. I've already checked the Supp regs but I wanted to clarify if we need anything else (vehicle wise) like an extinguisher? I already have one but it's not mounted. Cheers,
  6. Hi Pauly, Have a look at www.ztherapy.com they overhaul carbs in the US and have pictures outlining the differences. Not sure if all the changes appeared in Oz, but it should give you an idea what you're looking at.
  7. For $30 why not? I'm in. When were you looking at doing this?
  8. As far as desireability goes, there where less 240's sold than 260's, which makes them rarer. Also, subsequent models gained weight which impacted performance (from a stock point of view). The 2+2 was heavier again.
  9. I use 'Pick Pay and Go' on Heatherdale road - Ringwood, but only because it's so close. Quite small compared to other wreckers, but relatively clean and they supply running water with Solvol and a towel for cleaning up. Not much of a range for Datsuns, or Nissans for that matter. Usually have a couple of skylines (R31's), pintaras, bluebirds, some 180 and 200Bs and a Y or two. There was a 1200 coupe at the back a while ago, not sure how much of it is left. I also like strolling through other makes to compare parts.
  10. I love a set of carbs, the noise at full throttle will be awesome! The manifold runners seem very short in the pics. Good for top end HP i've heard.
  11. Silver is growing on me. These two Mercs are part of the reason, the paint is called 'Liquid Silver'. (Photo's were scanned from a Motor magazine article)
  12. Hi zedevan, nice project with the lights. Yeah, there should be 2 screws on each side, one for horizontal, the other vertical. Check they haven't locked up or have stripped heads (like mine )
  13. I'm interested, but can't make it this weekend!! :x I've almost got my hands on a tripod and remote release for my SLR. Oh, and I have a running Z.

    Rear windscreens

Thanks Lambs, thats what I was hoping.
  15. My 240Z doesn't have a rear demister and I'm wondering whether they were available for the 240. Otherwise, does a 260 rear screen fit in? Thanks, Rod

    Heavy steering

I know I had one ball joint replaced 6 months ago, might check the other one. Will also check the tie rod ends and yes, the alignment. gav240z: I know what you mean with the gym! Thanks for your help
  17. Hey all, The steering on my Z is bloody heavy. At parking speeds I need both hands on the wheel. Driving is better (as expected) but I still need both hands when going around corners. Is this normal for a Z :?: My tyres are 205 R15's, which I wouldn't have thought as being excessively wide. And although the tread is low, it's still present. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Rod F

    Sway bars

Since Lurchs cruise not long ago i've realised how much body roll my 240 has. I noticed Whiteline Suspension sell a sway bar for the rear of a Z car, has anyone used these before?
  19. I also have an alarm, which i've already installed and connected to the central locking module, it's just finding a place for the actuator. Sulio, you wouldn't happen to have a photo of your install would you???
  20. Has anyone fitted central locking to their Z? I tried the other week but couldn't find a spot to attach the actuator. Thanks
  21. I just installed a Narva headlight upgrade kit from Bursons for around $80. It included new lenses and a pair of 55/100 watt globes. Although the standard beam (55 watts) isn't very powerfull, over my standard sealed beam lenses (which were 55/60 watts) they make a world of difference. I also installed twin relays and drew power from the + terminal of the alternator. Definately recommend this upgrade for anyone with stock headlights as crap as mine.
  22. Thanks for your help fellas. Sulio - I have the round top carbs
  23. Does anyone know of a kit that I can purchase? Or can someone recommend a shop that can 'go-over' them?

    Interior panels

Hi guys, I've just joined your forum as I bought a 240Z a few months ago. I was wondering how you approach re-doing your interiors. The plastic panels in my Z are falling apart, as i'd expect for something 30+ years old. What materials can be used to replace them? Is MDF/fibreboard type material ok? The door trims are on the way out as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Rod
