Hello members, I have decided to rebuild the Zed. Engine and box replacement and a bare metal respray.
I have decided to sell the Chev and supra box and source a RB26DETT with a RB25DET 5 speed. Lots to do and heaps of work ahead of me so I thought I would keep track of the whole build and tell my story.
Starting the stripping down.
Very interesting reading Saxxon. I have a 350 Chev in my 2 seater.
For what its worth in the weight department, as part of my engineers certificate i had to have the car weighed.
It came in 50 kg heavier than when it had the six in it. Weight distribution still 50:50.
Cheers

Hello, is anyone heading to the island tomorrow to do some practice?
I will be down there with the wifes escort (the zeds not quite ready )
Cheers

No problem Simon.
let me know when you can come down my way and we can have a look.
If you have any special specs you want to follow that's cool too.
Otherwise i have most car specs from 61 to 2003.
Richard, if you want a hand measuring your exact camber and castor i may be able to help.
I have a hoist and a 4 wheel alignment machine that makes adjustment and correction a breeze.
Happy to help out any fellow zed owners also.

Standard swaybar for a 77 260z 2 seater.
I have removed the strap on the diff and replaced it with a cradle and chev tranny mount.
I have picks somewhere but need to hunt them down.
So the diff dosent move much but it has always been close to the swaybar even with the strap?
G
whooops!! you guys crack me up lol.
And all posted so soon.
I meant to say...
when i accellerate and then back off my rear swaybar is rubbing against my prop shaft?
All seems to be mounted correctly i have used a fresh batch of super pro bushes on the swaybars.
But my rear swaybar is very close to the prop shaft.
Does anyone have a good fix for this?
Graeme
Has anyone tried these radiators? They look the goods and cheap as well!!
I have 77 260z so figured this would suit mine.

oh i had better look into that.
I wonder if it applies to a roadworthy and engineered car?
Who in NDSOC can i contact for further info does anyone know??
Oooops hijacking again
Nice 260z there!!
If i had the spare coin i would probably pay 25,000 for this its certainly worth that i reckon.
I would personally keep the car and club reg it. A fraction of the price to keep on the road and with the new changes in Feb and the 90 days its well worth doing it now.
Thats the way i have gone and cant wait to get her back on the road.

I have just converted the v8 from LPG to carby.
I kept the standard fuel tank so it went back in but this meant i had to build a new exhaust system.
So i thought i would give it a go myself. I need to improve my welding i think!
Here are some pics for the v8 guys!
Anyone one noticed this sweet ride!
But at $85,000 ???

I am definately going club plates. I contacted NDSOC and have the paper work, just have to organise a time for the club to view the car.
When the new scheme finally comes in, it will be an incentive to drive my car more often.
