  1. Dlc, if i had the spare cash and the room to house it in my shed i would grab that one instantly. I dont think you are asking too much either. Graedat
  2. nato, i have block huggers on but they slightly foul on the steering arm, just dont like the way they fit. i wouls like to go closer to the engine and away from the steering arm. You just gave me an idea. i may be able to leave my block huggers on for the mean time and just set my two mufflers uf at the rear. Anyone else with a v8 running a twin ststem with twin mufflers? [craig perhaps].
  3. Thanks for the help guys, i am not sure if my mig skills are up to a set of headers so am looking around and getting quotes also. A twin system on my zed with a large gas tank out the back makes it pretty tight for two mufflers out the back. Its going to be a tricky job. Grae
  4. Happy new year to all! I am thinking of building my own exhaust sytem for the v8. Wondering if anyone knows where i can get the bits i need to do it, e.g flanges, bends, collectors, mufflers, and crosspipes etc. Looking also for a book or something on how to start and go about building custom headers? Cheers Grae
  5. I call it my SMUGGLERS FUND! X amount every pay goes into this fund to keep the zed project alive and ongoing. I must include the fact that the wife has one also.
  6. zedophile, i am running 9.6:1 compression as later i may run some boost.
  7. Well i found the complete opposite. When i was thinking about upgrading from single to twin carbs i was told by a melbourne fitter i would have to sell the single system and buy a complete twin setup. When i contacted Brisbane i was greeted with enthusiam and was given a list of parts i would need for the upgrade. I was very impressed.
  8. yes too true. I have them this way as i am saving for silicon elbows and i am running them in front of the radiator with polished stainless steel tubing. So i hooked them up this way in the mean time, also the cops would book me as they need their own box or to be outside the engine bay if they are pods.
  9. A few more pics, and off to the dyno on monday!!!
  10. Very nice clean install there!!! I am seriously looking at those seats now, they look trick. I see what you mean about the GR single carb, but a 550cfm should be sweet for 300 hp no probs.(Not that im an expert by any means). I will scan some progress pics of when i put the tank in, its pretty tight up the back and the exhaust fits fine, i am running twins to the diff then single 3" out the back but am changing to twin the whole way but major fabrication will be needed to do it right. Ill do a hunt for the pics and get back to you. Graedat
  11. ok, i have been out of the loop for a while when and where are the nationals?? Grae
  12. Russjz, i would like to see some pics of the mr2 seats, and was it an easy install job? I owned a 91 mr2 turbo and loved the adjustable lumber and wing supports on those seats. Where did you get yours? P.S. car goes on the dyno on monday for a tune. Its seems way to dry out the exhaust atm so will trailer it down there just to be sure. Will keep you posted. Russjz, i had a 480 cfm carb on my other chev engine and it was just adequate for 150kw atw, if you want more power than that i would suggest a twin carb system. my twin is 920 cfm.
  13. thanks zdream, its a 350 chev, i removed the spare wheel tub and made a cradle for the commodore lpg tank. Its 75 litres usable from memory.
  14. its ok guys i managed to get her to fit. i have removed the vents in the bonnet and am going to fit scoops to give me that little extra.
  15. hi paul, i have a a 440 as the primary and a 480 as the secondary using B2 converters. I have a large flexible single line all the way line to the lockoff. i bought my gas stuff from the main Aussie supplier in Brisbane. Price for that system would be on the high side of 2 grand not including the tank or line. All the other small incidentals add up. Like the lockoff, the control switch and the brass fittings and sealant etc etc. I am looking at around the 300KW at the fly, but have bought these carbies to allow mw to go more when i am ready [have the funds]. Which state are you in? RTA are a bunch of c@#%s. hope this helps, i am also thinking supercharger later but will see.
  16. Ok guys, here is an update. fitted the gas research and have since started her. She is sounding very sweet!
  17. Thanks Azman, i may just buy another steel one and modify it. Does Warren have zed bonnets? Graedat
  18. ok cool, thanks azman.
  19. Hey guys, i am looking for a fibreglass bonnet or a secondhand steel one. I have almost finished the v8 conversion take 2 and the gas research is about 40mm too high. I want another bonnet to make up a custom scoop. Cheers Grae
  20. gidday nicedat. I have a 350 chev in my zed behind a supra box. good combo for mild to warm 350 chev engines. Where in melbourne are you? If you want to have a look at mine im in langwarrin if thats not too far for you.
  21. Hi Van, its a 350 chev. brand new crate motor, roller cam and lifters with roller rockers, single plane manifold. I am running twin gas research on it.
  22. I am hoping to get it back on the road in the next few weeks. I will keep you posted. Cheers Graeme
  23. I just watched crackerjack and Mick drives a Blue 260z 2+2 with the rear seat removed. Great movie !!
  24. hi Aaron, i remember your car. I was at that event in 04 with my blue zed. mine has been off the road since then also and is nearly ready to have its first breath in a while.
  25. my car is off the road ATM, unfortunatley, i might still try to make it though.
