  1. Noice one bruvva. Doing awsome work for someone on the other side of the world.
  2. Welcome, upgrade is a good way to put it Good luck, you have come to the right place for Zs.
  3. As has been said, you dont need lots of power in a Z, for such a cheap, reliable, easy to get power from and relatively easy conversion, go an RB20DET. There is a bloke in Canberra with a 240Z RB20DET and it goes really well with very few mods and still flogs a lot of other cars on the road. I would be spending the money on suspension if I were you, no point in having balls loads of torque and power when you will struggle to get it down.
  4. Mine butt ugly, but like a mongrel dog, i still love it.
  5. I have to work on weekend of 16th, but the weekend of the 24th is good for me. I doubt I will be in the datto, though I may be prepared to tow somewhere for photos.
  6. A friend told me an awsome idea, if you have the room. Buy the cardboard you use when doing a an assignment when in primary school, trace around the part pulled off, put each bolt in its respective position on the part and even number which ones need doing first to last etc. You then have room to write notes on the cardboard and you wont loose the parts cos they are in the cardboard. But I reckon you would need a bit of room. I will be doing this next time, cos putting my engine back together after all the bolts and nuts were thrown in the one big box cos we were in a hurry... well you know where im going with this.
  7. Hi Wayne. Hope you enjoy the trip and it would be good to meet you in Melbourne, there are a few of us going on the tassie trip.
  8. Well, another lesson to be learnt from my stupidity, my power fc died today, so now i am buying an Autronic and rewiring the whole car, but i cant afford that for a while.
  9. Well after so much effort to get this thing ready for next week, I have discovered my Power FC is rooted and the car cant be driven down there. So next in line is an Autronic and total rewiring. Also found out the bottom radiator tank has a leak, so alloy radiator too.

    SR20 vs RB25

Yeh thats him Well in regards to the whole topic, im gonna say cos im biased, RB25 FTW. SR20 is great weight distribution and all, but then again, my RB25 doesnt weigh much different to the L series and you look at how many good handling L series cars there around and have been over the years. If your going to do track, definately RB. SR would be better for small tight driving where not as much speed is needed like motorkhana etc. As for Hillclimbs, I reckon they both have big advantages.

    SR20 vs RB25

Not that I know of. So have you been to see Costa in Castlereigh then? I dont like his prices or attitude, but he does have a few good things lying around (eg, i got my Z from him )
  12. ahh yeh, now i know it.
  13. Depends on how you look at it. Hopefully someone coming into Zs can learn from others mistakes, so rather than it being based on how much money, maybe whats been done for that money. By no means am I proud of the fact I have spent a house deposit on my car, but I plan on keeping it for life and want to get it right. Just wish i got it right the first time.
  14. Thats really nice mate. Kinda looks familiar though.
  15. Yeh thats it. Mate things arent looking good for the car though, a few brake dramas and workshops not willing to help me get it finished in time, but i will borrow money and hire a car if have to.
  16. Sadly I have done a few things a few times to get it right and due to my commitments over the years, I havnt had time or knowledge to do it myself. The last tally was around $50k, but I have stopped counting. I nearly have it where I want it, so ill just keep pushing on.
  17. Spewin. I would offer some help, but I am flat out trying to get my car ready for Tassie next week. But when I get back I should have some time.
  18. Ok, well Justin is happy to photograph and has some pretty cool ideas for photos since theres only a few of us and its easier (he id a shoot for Skylines Australia and it was hard cos there were so many cars). So hopefully he wont be working when we decide on a date, but first things first.
  19. I have a 3.7 and 350hp approx with a RB25 gearbox. The 3.7 is great as it reduces the need for throttle control coming on boost and I can concentrate on other things, but for a lower powered car I would refer a 3.9 or 4.1. I am still tempted to try out a 3.9, but I cant justify paying around $1k for 2 gears.
  20. I will be in Tassie for the 10th, so im out for that. I am coming up with a plan for when we do do something though. It will involve a friend who is a really good photographer and maybe a bbq. I will update when I can convince him Are Saturdays out of the question for you both? Im fine with Saturdays, as long as I have that weekend off. I should be available for the weekend of 23-24th Feb? Its a fair way off, but it might give us the chance to maybe get a couple more people. I know a guy with a RB20 240, i will try and get a hold of him. Scott
  21. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=502 At the bottom of the page it has links to send him a message etc Scott
  22. hmm, will give this a shot me thinks.
  23. Oh yeh, I hear ya. My Landcruiser just broke down, so im desperately getting the Z drivable so I can start on the engine conversion on the Troopie when i get back from Tassie.
  24. Look forward to seeing you there.
  25. I was just thinking the same thing, I had a go at my simmons today and found a little bit of oxidisation on the polished outer lip. I am using the fabric stuff that has the damp stuff in it from the yellow tin (Technical stuff here ). Works really well, but not well enough for that sort of thing.
