I finally got around to doing a job I was putting off - repainting the rear tail light panels.
I'm fairly pleased with the results! It's not perfect, but neither is the car...
The old paint was stuffed, & I hated the colour to boot!
I spent $55 on paint at Supercrap Auto consisting of:
Plastic surface primer (it's clear, not like normal undercoat).
'Gunmetal' topcoat.
Clear coat.
I then sanded down the surface (trying to get rid of the cracks, chips & flaking paint etc) with 240 grit paper.
Then wiped it all down a couple of times with some prepsol/thinners.
Applied a couple of coats of primer, then colour.
Next day I hit it with the clear coat.
Before I installed the lights back in the surrounds, I polished up the chromed sections with 'Autosol'.
I thought the chromed plastic was stuffed, but it turned out to just be really badly tarnished
(And yes, the Bus needs a wash).
