  1. Not for mandrel bends though...
  2. Thanks Gareth PM Sent. There's 2 magnets glued to the tail shaft & and a sensor mounted to the body to pick the magnets up. OR you can switch the dash over to pick up the GPS signal & get the road speed that way Tim, one word for not using S/S: COST. I should have this system built for less then $250 using mild steel.
  3. That's going to be... interesting...? I really want to set up my own system for doing this - so PM sent!
  4. I've just redone the tappets to the HOT setting & it feels really crisp thanks Mark But as I'm yet to get the re-tune done I'm not going to give it a hard time, lest I pop the head gasket again... The only way I'll get a 55 at the Island, Dimitri, is if I get a tow from Gordo in his GTR! And stay tuned as over the coming week(s) I'll be building my own mild steel 2.5" mandrel exhaust...
  5. Well the 'early girl' is running again Many thanks to Peter Mac for the head gasket, as for some reason I had the wrong one And the gasket is now clamped by ARP head studs, so it shouldn't be going anywhere...! I also decided to remove the 280ZX airbox that was bolted to the front of the radiator (as it was restricting airflow to the radiator & engine), and make & fit a new 3" intake pipe with HI pod filter. And this is what happens when you run a lot of engine timing & remove a restictive airbox from the intake tract: Instant lean-out & detonation = bye-bye h/gasket This was not a totally bad thing to happen though as I decided to have the head checked over while it was off, & I'm was glad I did! The reco included: Repair of some water gallerys holes. Chamber No4 had a crack in the roof(!) into a water gallery, which was repaired (I was wondering why it was slowly loosing water...) Cooling system pressure check. 3 new valve guides. Valve seats re-cut & Vaccume tested. New valve stem seals. Head surface.
  6. Fixed : Thanks mate.
  7. Thanks for the great video Dimitri! Need to get a better Mic though... Oh & I've just found out I won Class 'C'!
  8. First post updated!
  9. Many thanks to Peter Mac who had one - handy as he's 40mins down the road Thanks to everyone for their offers! Now to fit this head...
  10. Found one - thanks all Cheers, Locky.
  11. Meh - I've fixed worse! Glad to read your back into it mate
  12. Posts removed - lets keep on topic guys
  13. Used on the early 240Z's. Mine is off the engine currently - so if you want any info/photos let me know
  14. Anyone who attended the John Mott at Sandown & saw me compete would have noticed the new addition to the Zed... At least half of my OEM gauges are not reading correctly & the cost to get them rebuilt was... well not cheap! So for a few hundred $ more I bought this digital race dash with a GPS unit for lap timing. It has loads of functions & it more accurate than a OEM gauge (even in good nick) could ever hope to be.
  15. Peter said to me not long ago that he can screw together a 2.9ltr long motor, with forged rods & pistons, head work & valve train for 7k, that will make 190kw with the right induction & exhaust. Is that still ballpark Peter?
  16. Happy 38th Loui!
  17. As soon as the entries come out, I'm entering (I'm definitely making this one!!!). I should have the new exhaust, intake & retune done in time... People going so far: Dimitri Gareth Gordo(?) Noel Peter Mac Myself Any one else? Bruce P? I've attached the Entry form to this post - it's also availible from www.msca.net.au Early bird entry is $175 for MSCA members. Here's hoping for fine weather! 16946_50270b3448fd9600dacccf249de5585fe48aac39.doc
  18. I'll see you at the Island then G
  19. Hahahah - bout time mate! Try & get Noel on here too... Locky.
  20. Victorian Performance Warehouse: http://www.vpw.com.au/index.asp I just recently dealt with VPW & all I can say is: FANTASTIC! I ordered a ARP head stud kit (to suit Nissan L6: $177) & a black Silicon intake hose ($42). I placed the order by phone (Paid with credit card) on Wednesday & they arrived today! (Thursday) by Star Track Express (postage was $16 & a CC fee of $3). They stock HEAPS of stuff & while there's a lot of GM, Ford & generic stuff they do stock some Nissan/Datsun parts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
  21. Just advise people by PM if you hear that business come up, Gareth
  22. Starting to come together Tim
  23. Peter is a mad man, but it'll go hard Gareth!
