  1. You may have nailed it on the head Steve. An intelligent guess would be that the numbers Mr. C posted are in fact 2+2 import numbers, not 2 seater (as you pointed out, there were none). Most, if not all 77 station wagons were "bits's" being made out of what was left from the S-30 production run.

    eng #'s

I think you find it's an Import. No L series engine was produced in Oz.
  3. Craig, thats an interesting list, 1977 bemuses me as it has no 2+2 imports? I can only wonder if I have the only one in OZ?

  5. Never seen the VB catelog, most people tend to quote from Carl Beck's site and assume that it covers all S-30 models, (which it doesn't). KAts had the best reliable breakdown (verifiable) of early numbers. I know it's a long thread to read, however at the end of the day it's the best thats available. No one is disputing them.... Why not post a scan of the info that you have? MOM
  6. Once again our american cousins and their build dates are confusing the real numbers. The most definitive information about early build numbers is contained here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7801&highlight=build+numbers Using the figures Lagavullin posted nearly 160K zeds arrived on our shores. Not likely.....
  7. Oh well, my vote goes for the chain as well. It worked for the past 15 years in the rally car. Cheap easy mod. Post your results when you have them.
  8. Could be, however without any definitive cross referencing it could also be anywhere between July 70 and Mar 71. This was always going to become a major hurdle in dating early cars. I could keep writing about this, howver the most definitive thread about it, appeared in ClassicZcar contained in a thread by Kats. Anyone that is interested can sign up there and follow up....
  9. Thats right, HS-30 not left, HLS......
  10. Aw gee you all knew I'd bite..... First off, welcome to the forum thats more dedicated to right hookers..... To answer your question, they can be repaired/restored. What you need is the FSM and the carbie overhaul kits. This may be your biggest problem as a few people have reported them as being no longer available. Fuel Miser made a very good kit, search around you still might be able to find them, you will need 2 as a kit only overhauls 1. Once overhauled and set up according to the FSM, your engine will once again run as it was manufactured. Having said alll of that, may I suggest you don't bother, unless your restoring to original condition. This is the only reason why I'm still running Flat Tops as the 260 is origianal and I want to keep it that way. Good luck.. Mike
  11. It's off a Cedric. (260C) Do yourself a favour and ditch it for SU's.....
  12. Problem here is that your quoting US statistics. for instance we (OZ) never got a 280Z, let alone cat converters (thank god). It's easy to be mis-lead on Z history/models when most information is HLS orientated... FWIW MOM
  13. RVAC = Royal Vic Aero Club. You should be able to work the rest out.
  14. There would be no difference in the screen seal. Door seals would be bigger in the 2+2. You may be better trying Scotts Old Auto Rubbers in Oakleigh. They stock the complete range of profiles that you need.
  15. The 280Z was not available in OZ. Who is the supplier, I ask this as they seem to have no knowledge of HS-30 models in OZ? Incidently, what exactly are you after when you ask for a seal kit? Body seals, door seals, window seals, gaskets are also confused with seals. Mike
  16. Word must have gotten out about an alternative club and got them worried LOL. FWIW RVAC was another meeting place I was going to suggest, now that would have made it interesting........
  17. If your using the zed then you don't need hood pins. I didn't think you needed fire extinguisers for motorkhanas (didn't last time I entered one, but times change and you probably do now)!
  18. Everyone's welcome, you will need a CAMS licence to compete. Best advice I can give you is to join the NCCA (they are hosting one of the rounds). Once you are a member of a CAMS Affialted club you can then obtain a CAMS Licence. The 21st date came from the CAMS site www.cams.com.au then go to the Victorian page to find what events are upcoming in the next 7 days. http://www.cams.com.au/content.asp?PageID=StateVIC
