we're all nuts. i've seen a couple of auctions for the black 240z fender mirrors go for more than that price, so i guess it isn't that bad, and the way the prices for them are going you probably wouldn't loose much if you were to sell them used second hand! that was my thinking anyway...its crazy seeing people pay over US$200 for ones that aren't in good condition at all

hmmm is suncorp GIO? well vice versa? i just got my insurance renewal form from GIO and i would recommend anyone who isn't with them to atleast check them out i have no idea how the policy works from their point of view, with the amount i'd have for excess taken off, it would take me 102.6 yrs (up from around 30 or so, which still is dam reasonable) for me to pay off the pay out i'd get for the agreed value of my car from paying the yearly rate i'm now, if that makes sense lol. and they've told me twice that if its engineered they dont care whats done to it, although i know i need to get this in writing, which is hard without a full time fax i guess, or do they email nowadays?

the "games world" retail chain, i think they are called, can definately get them in, i've got a maroon one as thats all they had and i couldn't b botehred waiting, and the maroon colour is kinda cool. i've also got a cheaper like $30 type one and the quality and detail difference is amazing, definately worth the extra the plan is to get a decent r32 and sprinter, not to mention all the jada 240z's! my hotwheels collection is +1 for yellow lol they also can get in a nice c110 from memory, which i'd love, but with the price of them being the way they are... how's life in melb alfadog? assuming you're down here that is?

is that a carb turbo setup? some friends have been telling me to paint my car black, but i'd have to say i'm only a fan of the very dark tinted colours, and even then the flair colour choice seems a bit questionable, unless its moulded in like the darius240z car

i think the idea of speakers in custom box things above the rear susspension is a good idea, i currently have speakers gaffa taped there, lol, and it works alright, just doesn't look the best! (i was planning on making a pod for them to sit in so it looked nicer, but was going to wait till rear strut brace etc, and gaffa tape holds well except for in direct sunlight!) y dont you mount the amp under the seats dave so you can keep a spare wheel? they are very easy to remove, the seats that is...i always thought they must be held down well lol for front speakers in my 260 i was thinking about putting like 2" tweaters where the vent holes are on the outside edges of the dash, as i've never felt air come through there, and if it ever does, i'd be happy for it to just waft around the edges of the dash, windows down all the way i reakon has anyone tried to remove the air vents before with the dash still in? i'm wondering if it would be easier just to get an extrusion thats got the right diameter to fit in there and just be held in with something sticky and sit it infront, although i'd like it to be recessed like the current vents are, and get a cool fan cover that fits over it, or even just mount them behind the current vents. as i can't see a more ideal spot to mount speakers up the front in s30's? on the center console wouldn't sound right to me, and even angled door pods look like they'd be blasting my legs! nice looking system you have there JP240z, i was eventually going to do such a system lol, how do you find the door pods? do they make ur door trim vibrate alot?

agreed, but as it will b a roller job i can just get a fine brush and do the edges lol also if some dark green is visible it hopefully wont b the worst thing due to the green tinge i'm planning on having. if i'm not happy with the masking i'll then pull the glass i guess so the books aren't really worth it i guess? although i'm sure when you have a whole car apart it may help put it back together? i'm so tempted to start pulling all the chrome stuff off, i must restrain myself

thanks for the link, i've actually pulled off one of hte drip rails before, so i'm happy with that, its the one between the body and window i'm wondering about, althoguh i found something once on classiczcars that said you just pull up vertically, but i'm worried about braking it with the handles, by the inner door skin i assume you mean the interior lining? i guess i was worried the mechanisim would pull back into the door with some big spring or somethign and be a pain in the ass? i'm thinking the c-pillar badge might b the same as the other badges, as per what sulio said, the rear hatch latch i've had off before also. hmmm i might just mask all the windows, and lift up the rubber a bit with a thickish line so i can paint under it, as i've heard a few people do that. i'm also thinking about getting my antenna hole welded up, and mayb the front headlights, but that excel indicator swap thing looks alright, or is that just a reflector? as i couldn't find any pics of austrlian 86-89 excels with them? and yeah i'm planning to paint, i've been holding off for a bit as i wasn't 100% on the colour, and i'd like to have my car looking the way it will in a month for a while, but i'm dying to paint it also, the main aim is to have it done by summer, and since i need semi decent weather it will probably get done in spring, so i guess i'm just trying to get prepared, and since i started wondering about these things i kinda can't stop wondering about it, lol, and i want to start repairing my damanged fender, but i'll just wait till paint time sulio hurry up and don your rear discs so i can see how easy it is and get inspired!

I know a fair few of you have books on restoring zeds etc, and i'm just wondering which is best for what? i'm particually interested in one which will tell me how to pull off all the chrome things stuck to the body. although i think the only thing i am really stuck with is the door handles, the metal strip at the top of the door, the rear quater windows (or best just to mask them?) and the zed rear quater badges...which is just about all of it lol. i just dont want to brake any of it and i'm sure a book is good to have either way. which would you recommend?

hmmm i stayed around and checked out a few, and also before i went inside, but yeah, mayb more lingering outside would be good before hand? but there's only so much lingering you can do before it gets boring... i was thinking mayhem must of been refering to general classic car meets and not seeing many zeds there? i personally havent' been to any as havn't had the time due to working weekends previously, although my car does get plenty of use as its my only one

i was just in there as general admin, so was around turn 2-11 at different times i was thinking one of those shock and water proof cameras would be good just to take everywhere, however their picture quality and ability doesn't compare to a DSLR, but still for the price etc you may as well as you'd get more use out of it i assume? but you should buy some rims first is hte mju770 one of the ones with titanium cases? i wouldn't mind camping in a backyard or something possibly for a night over easter, only reason i'm not is coz i'm disorganised and couldn't commit, when are the actual dates of easter?

that looks awesome, the only thing i think that could b improved is the blur lines on the ground should go horizontally, instead of a zoom type blur, since there are none down the bottom so is putting a weird direction onto it which isn't there took a couple of shots using my bros 300D (bought it as said the newer ones are to small and then the other ones out of price range lol) at the f1 yesterday, will upload some when i have time

does anyone else here have a collection of the 240z hotwheels cars? i think i have about 5white ones and 1 yellow, as everytime i see one i buy it, not that i need them! and i have an r32 gtr somewhere too just for the hell of it since i belive u can swap parts on these cars i'll have to get a couple and make sure they have different combinations. thanks for the info sulio, does the postage get cheaper as you buy more?

you can get a kit that looks like the one you have pictured though arizona z car, and u can get it with wilwoods attatched i think they are koni items shortened and have seperate rebound damper adjustment etc. i am eventually planning to have toperformance put some coilovers in for me, but after other things first...

yeah thats what i was thinking, although it has to be better than vinyl, lol. but isn't leather ment to actully breath? i still wouldn't mind if the outside bit was leather, i might end up getting them retrimmed one day, but they will do for now had a tall guy sit in the passenger seat and he had no issues, except had to duck to get out!

sounds alot like my car, except mine had been refreshed a bit in the mid 90's, and had the dash reskinned then due to cracks, and had been swapped to 240z carbs, and was 2g less lol, oh the seats had a rip in them at the base and are kinda stained, but thats been fixed now however i dont think an orginal 260z is that exciting, i guess they might be one day, who knows? if he's fairly negotiable on it i dont think it'd be a bad buy as you can still drive it, and you know what needs replacing on it eventually - everything! i sometimes wish i'd bought one that had been restored as it would be nicer for cheaper, but i have no regrets, just depends what you want to get yourself into, and from a v8 240 to this seems like quite a difference!
