what happened to me is the wiring contact point thing on the switch stalk fell off, like un soldered, so i'd try that as its most likely the issue, as the highbeam button has a seperate relay which turns on all lights at once, and since that works i'd say its down to the switch. i followed the wiring diagram and also made a bypass switch for the headlights whcih hangs down on the door side of the steering wheel so if i ever have an issue i'm not stuck in the dark, although the wires there are a pain to get to...

i would of thought a stock frame couldn't really be said to be able to handle the power from either of those engines? hell, my stock diff mounts have lastest less than a year with a stock motor lol unfortunately i think if someone does the modifcations needed for the engine to suit and has gotten it engineered, and someone has done an exact copy of the same install, that his car can be covered by the same thing? as woudlnt they want proof of hte type to steel used for the mounts etc? i know this doesn't really effect you as u just want a letter so the government can blame someone if u kill urself somehow! do you have any other way u can get around this? as i dont see anyone writing a letter to cover it...the closest thing to convince someone that nissan thinks its ok is by using factory z31 rb mounts?

seems like a more reasonable price to sell it for if it has 5g suspension than the price you paid for it! post up some pics of ur golf when u get it back

blue leaf, dom wants to get this order finished with before taking another one. i'm now ment to get my rims on the 14th of this month, apparently they have changed the centre caps they use on them so they have to get it machined and this is taking them a long time for some reason. i dont get how they got confused and thought i'd have the rims this week...

yeah i hear ya i need to work out if i want that sort of dedication to a motorsport i guess, it terms of time and money how'd u get others to pay for your karting? sponserships? how much do u budget for ur zed a yr?

yeah, but finding a nice one is probably harder...as no one really spends the same sort of money or care on keeping them going? i went and looked at one, was 2g, and half bog lol edit: nice green car above btw lol

sounds like both of you had/have good arrangements i'm thinking that if i do stuff to my car atleast i'll have something to show for it at the end, where as with karts i'll just have alot of old engines and tyres! but even a kart to just use every now and again would b fun like what my bro is doing, however i can see myself getting carried away...

besides the guys that are going for the whole weekend i dont think there is anything formal organised...i will prob go down on the saturday unless i have to get rubber for my rims and put the flares on that day...as i was told last wednesday, then i was told today or tomoz, now i'm being told tues/wed, going to call ROH to ask what's going on if i havn't heard an exact time by the end of the day. its a pain as i have to organise with work a time off so i can go pick them up and get some rubber on them, and drive in that day so i have a car that can fit them all in it... if there's some place to pitch a tent i might stay down for some of sunday, not sure, and if i can't make it saturday i'll be trying to head down on sunday, but not sure what my family commitments are for easter if any sulio are you getting your guards cut tuesday?! hopefully he has time to squeeze me in at some stage after easter, i guess i'll just drive and hope for the best until i get them cut like what you did!

thanks for the reply's, i'll b fixing up the body of my zed a bit closer to spring, however "the need for speed" is on my mind more, and i'd prefer to cheap out on the body for now and get some other fun bits! i've had a couple of mates telling me that i'll never have time to use it etc, where the car i can enjoy more often, and i'd eventually want to do it to the car anyway, just thinking even now i'm thinking i'm possibly a bit old to get into karts, for the next little bit i'll try to take out my bros kart more often and hope i dont brake it george, dont they make you put weights on ur karts so they all weigh the same? although it'd b best to b in the lightest class possible so its great you were just under the weight. your car looks very sexy by the way, more info on it is needed i've got the money there for either a kart or an lsd, although not sure what ratio to try to find. after having my diff mounts replaced for a road worthy nearly a year ago they are now clunking again when i lift off the power :S time to do the thing craig did i guess?

i'm concidering wasting my money, on either a go kart or the zed, and though this is probably the most zed biased place to bring it up and hear some opinions from people wiser than myself. i'm not saying that this is going to happen straight away, the thoughts are just lurking there at the back of my mind...and using my bro's go kart every now and again isn't helping! i'd b buying a 100s arrow kart most likely, around 3g with all the stuff i need to race it to start off with, which i guess would b the aim to do everynow and again as i assume after ages of going around the same track it would get boring. The main advantage i can see is its competitive so its not just about who has wasted more money on the kart..well to a degree, however i wouldn't be able to use it all that often, like once every couple of weeks for a couple of hours maximum. one problem being the engines need rebuilding every 10hours or so, which means the running cost of that, plus new tyres, means it ends up being around 4g a year to race competitively. An advantage is that when i stack, the body panels are cheap to replace and less chance of dying from hitting a tree etc the other option would b to waste money on my car, most likely a 1jzgte conversion (prob twin turbo version out of a soarer with some manual gear box), fuel cell, atleast a half cage, lsd and some decent brakes, then use it in motokhana's and hill climbs when i can b bothered, plus the joys of driving such a beast every time i take it for a spin and mayb eventually racing it in some class, but i dont really see this happening as there isn't a class? and i dont know would i want to drive my car at the same sort of limit i'm happy driving a go kart at, and have the risk of having what happened to ash's car happen to it from a money point of view i am guessing they will cost about the same over a couple of years, hopefully by which time the on going costs of either doesn't matter, although at which stage i could possibly be sick of the go kart and not have time for it, but still love the zed ofcourse! at the same time however no matter how stupidly i drive my car it doesn't come close to the fun, safety and legalness of my bro's kart, and after just like half an hour in it i'm more than sore enough to last me a bit lol any thoughts?

yep they are what i have, they are not the same height, as i said, about 1-2cm shorter, photoshop them over the top of each other with the top sections the same size and you will see what i mean or just visualise this in your head... also in the auctions by people who know what they are selling if you read the whole thing they say tehy are not 240z mirrors, but mirrors that are often used on jap 240z's to replace the black 240z mirrors, i guess coz the chrome ones are better? lol

yeah i heard they wanted it to look more classy etc to compete with vw gti's, although i'd have to say that it definately doesn't have the classy factor...

i don't have it sorry, but if you look around on classiczcars you'll be sure to find it. if you can get them much cheaper mayb it will b worth bringing over a couple and putting them up there for the same sorta price that guy's charging? i wouldn't mind a set of black ones too...

sr240z's car is probably the closest (www.sr240z.com, but last time i tried it timed out), or just look through hls30h's (i think, well hte guy who has the 240zg in england) gallery on classiczcars i was going to go for the black's on my green paint job, but thought with the colour i want to paint my car chrome will look better, and its easier to go black from chrome than the other way around? also i prefer htem not sticking up as high, looks more sporty mayb? lol

as i said i have the chrome ones, and my car initially didn't have a passenger side mirror so i was used to not using that anyway. After getting out of another car your initial instinct is to look to the corner of the window, but once you get past that it works quite well. the black ones would work slightly better as the standoff is like 1-2cm longer or something like that, where with the height of the chrome ones the very bottom of hte passenger side mirror is blocked by the windscreen wiper, but as i said i'm used to not having a mirror there basically once you adjust them there is no need to ever do so, as they show quite a large area, so it would show the correct area for basically everyone. the only annoying part is if an interesting car (or chick..) drives past the other direction its harder to check it out once its gone past as the reflection is aimed basically further behind the car, well thats how i have it so i can see my car in it as a reference, and see the blind spot. and yes they look cool, and it definately makes people look twice, can't wait to flares and spoiler is installed i always thought there must of been some functional reason why they were installed on the fenders for the jap market, like they work better etc, just they were deemed to much of a hazard in australia, but researching it more its just about getting into the lower tax bracket again lol

the amount they give you back is a joke, they will tell you that you will get the % amount back for the remaining months you have left, but its only on the registration part, not the TAC and whatever else you are charged for. i looked into it on a car my gf was selling, 3 months left, she was going to get $28 lol, so 6 months is a whole $60?

i bought the chrome skyline ones which have a shorter standoff, they were US$250, which while expensive i'd kinda been looking at them for ages so decided just to buy them. they are often up on yahoo japan but once you pay all the people their commissions they want, in order to get them to you it doesn't really work out, ie AU$500+ i have the part numbers for the chrome ones at home if you want them, i'm still a bit split between whether i prefer the sleek look without the mirrors or the mirrors

yeah mine is insured for that now after they agreed to cover the rims and tyres for a nice sum however the bit i dont get is the amount they want me to pay for it this year...1/102th of that amount! however on the peice of paper that has information on my car it says its both not being restored, and being restored, which makes no sense at all, so i'll call them sometime, hopefully i talk to someone nice so far i've called them about 5 times and only once was the chick...not nice
