Hi Nigel, I guess your right I didn't really think about it that way. I've got them now anyhow and at least they have the bump stop integrated with it. The old ones were in ok condition but they were starting to crack and peel so I guess it was about time.

problem with using a bitmap image is that if we need to inrease it's size for a logo on a T-shirt or mugs or any promotional material it will distort. The original that Sulio posted I think I could easily convert to a vector based format in Illustrator. I might have another try at it soon.

Sorry to hear that. I guess you can keep looking in the classifieds I think I saw a couple of Zeds on ozdat. Perhaps you can now have a daily driver and a project Z.
-
They are fairly expensive I know a place in the US that sells them. http://www.wheelchoice.com/ I emailed www.sr240z.com about his Wat's and he said these guys supplied them. I am thinking of desiging and building a better website for them as a trade for a set of rims. However I'm busy with the viczcar site changes I'm going to implement soonish!

Yeah I saw this post the other day but wanted to take the time to post a proper response. Like Ashley said I'd keep the P90. However best results would be from changing the pistons over. The P90 flows well it's just not as easy to get a high compression ratio from as say the early E31/E88's. I would highly recommend reading the "How to modify your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine" By Frank Honsowetz he goes over all the heads and advantages/disadvantages of each. I don't recall alot of info on the N47 myself. However with regard to the l24E I believe they use a different bearing set up on the crankshaft which isn't that great for higher power applications. IMHO the best non cross flow heads for the Z are as follows in order of preference. P90(A) (A requires change over to standard lifters). N42 E88 (Early 240z 70-73ish). E31 Of course that's the heads in standard form each can be modified and changed to be almost as good as the other it will just cost you more money.

Hey Mike, I ended up ordering mine from the states for $120 AUD to my door. Which was better than the $50 ea. Pedders quoted me. I haven't yet installed the shockers hopefully this week. I've had some trouble getting a hold of Costa but he said he'll help me this week. I actually had some bump stops in there already but no protective boot. I'll let you know how it pans out. Good to see you have found another option I think someone on classiczcars told me about the Monroe ones but i already had ordered mine. FWIW the boots I got from the states came with cable ties lol  .

Yes but you missed the point bonnet pins look C@@L lmao. They also make it look like your a regular on the track lol. I think for now I should just concentrate on getting my new suspension in on the weekend and anything else that needs work.
-
Yeah I'm fairly certain you can do it but apparently Sulio couldn't do it the other day and all the permission were set correct. So yeah I have to give it a try myself see if i can fix it up. Thanks anyway.

I have to look into it mate. When I get a chance I'll try post some myself and see what I can do. If not maybe I'll have to have a go at adding a php module to do it for our members. Could be a good project for me to write myself. I showed Natez last night a new interface I want to intergrate to the site. So I've been working on that for now. I think Natez liked it and with the new style to the site I'm certain we'll get much more attention then. Slowly slowly I'll get these things done .

Haha I had a quick crack at Photoshopping it myself but it's very hard to make it look natural. Flat Black would be good but I was gonna go the cheap way and have it glossy  just because I'm a bit silly lol. Maybe I'll just buy a C/F bonnet when I get the funds . I also wanted to put some bonnet pins in it since I have a nice spare non fluted bonnet at home. Maybe I should just concentrate on finishing this motor off lol .

I just thought I'd get some opinions. My car was tapped by some prick ages ago who decided to do a runner and he damaged my bonnet as a result. So I bought a fluted one and the guy who painted it did a fairly poor job. Now my paint job isn't perfect by any means and a bit of rust caused some paint to flake off on my lower door so it seems pointless making the bonnet perfect with good paint since really the whole car needs a new paint job when I get time/money to do it. I was thinking of prepping this bonnet for a black paint job just fora bit of fun and that old skool Z race car look. I have a spare non-fluted bonnet for when I repaint the car in the future. So I am wondering what everyone thinks is it a bit of lame look? do you think it's a pretty cool look? I was thinking it was a good idea yesterday but now not so sure. :?:

I'm curious what the myth was? Did they hurt the nice clean Z?

Yes I agree Fuel Injection with multiple throttle boddies is definately better. If I can afford to do it I will choose that system over tripple Mikuni's. However if your flat our racing it's not going to make a huge difference. On the street though F.I would win hands down. I don't think the stock ZX gear is really worth all the effort myself. Especially since the cost of parts for it is way over priced these days.

Costa's are off a bluebird I think running an L20 I know it's a Nissan. I was going to fit one but never got around to it due to it missing the internal filter Costa was supposed to get one for me but I understand he's busy and my mechanical one runs fine. As Richard said the install is fairly straight forward most 240z's have wiring in place for the pump. You will want to fabricate a bracket for it or you could probably use a 260z style one that's what i was going to do but as I said i haven't got around to it yet. Sulio I don't have overheating issues in my Z however I've always had fluted bonnet and the stock 240z air box. From memory your running two K+N filters that are sucking up all the hot air from the extractors. That would be the first place I'd look. Another words try and find a stock 240z air box.

Yeah it is a bit expensive good to see someone has put an online store up in Australia though. I am considering doing it for us here with Costa I've spoken to him about it and we'd be offering specialty items like Coil Over kits and Carbon Fibre parts(mainly bonnets). That's just a plan for the future at the moment though.

I don't have experience with Holey carbies but if it's set up as a downdraught style carbie then I would recommend changing over to the 240z style twin SU's it does sound like you need more choke and if it's flooding when you apply the choke then the carbie is not correctly set up for the motor or application. Not sure if you are aware but the choke is a start up aid you pull it out to initially start the car. Then as the motor warms you slowly push it back in this way you shouldn't foul plugs. If you can afford it I'd definately source some Twin SU's from an early Z save yourself lots of headaches. :?

If i get time I might come down just to watch and take some pictures and video that's if I get time.

Hey Richard, I'd love to but I have my suspension half out awaiting some help from Costa and don't see myself putting it together in time. Have fun.

http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=14853&cat=500&page=1 this set up looks the neatest so far. Not a bad idea a fair bit of work involved though.

Hey Rod, http://www.dashboardrestorations.com.au/ can restore your centre console and dashboard not sure about other interior parts. I can't vouch for them as I only got quoted on fixing my centre console and haven't done it yet. It's a lower priority at the moment. For other interior pieces ebay can be great there is also a few places that sell these parts new http://www.datsunrestore.com/catalog.html is one there are a few others like motorsport auto. http://www.zcarparts.com/ for places in Australia maybe ask Warren at Zworx. 9587 5500 PS: A friend of mine has an inventory of Z parts he would like to part with shortly I'll be posting them up here and on ebay when we get a chance to go through it all.

Now that I'm working full time it's probably better to have the 1hr option however I'm still coming even if it's 2 hours so yeah we'll leave it in your good hands.

Gday Gavin, how are you buddy. Just making sure I have invited you guys to join us down the Mornington Peninsula this Sunay? I hope you can make it? Meet at THE RACE PLACE 114 Nepean Hwy, Seaford 10am. Cheers mate, Matty This was a message matty from the NDSOC sent me. I will do my best to make it if I can get my suspension gear in this weekend somehow i don't think it will be straight forward it never is. However this would be a good opportunity for others to go along and meet some members. Have fun!

I'm in Search engine optimisation or search engine marketing depending on what way you look at it. I don't think I know the guys in development yet. I think it will be a good place to start out for now and although it's not a creative role as such it should be a good way to start my career and get my foot in the door. I'll be sure to say hi from Matt if I meet anyone this week in Development though.

Good to hear mate I'd offer you a hand but I'm a busy person working full time now. Good part I guess is I'll have more money for the Z. I'm working right near you I believe you work at the Rialto yeah? I'm working 2 doors away at Melbourne IT. We'll have to meet up for lunch one day. Maybe on the weekends I can give ya a hand . I'm still waiting for my suspension bits from the US to work on mine hoping it arrives this week .
