Do you mean the Portuguese S30z? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C752425 http://www.fsautomoveis.com/detalhe/Datsun/240Z/224705/ The lucky son-of-a-gun's got the Kobe Seiko magnesium wheels as standard in their market.

Mazda Cosmo L10A?

I reckon there's a Ferrari F40, a HQ Monaro and Porsche 911 (966?) under those covers. NB: Look at the model cars in the office. Spot anything?

So I couldn't help but revive this thread, I've been looking at warehouses for ages, and I came across this... In Richmond Victoria. So anyone got a lazy 3.5M for an Auszcar headquarters? http://www.realcommercial.com.au/property-industrial+warehouse-vic-richmond-502032598

You mean Classicman right? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/user/104061-classicman/ http://www.affordableclassics.com.au/ I sent him a PM no reply yet. Here is a photo of the space. There is more space to the left hand side and the front has a loading dock area with more covered space.

Interesting I wonder if the bloke in the engine bay is using the oxy torch to burn off old paint, it looks like it. Always good to see an S30z down to it's bare basics. It looks like they are repairing it the correct way, interesting the floors are being completely removed including trans tunnel.. Even the fresh air tubes that run along the front of the car are removed. I guess Australian cars are often not that rotten due to lack of salt on the roads. But obviously that's not that case for all S30Z's.

What car are you referring to NickF? This car? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C743521 It was on Gumtree not long ago.

Hi Folks, I just wanted to get a sense of demand for vehicle storage in Melbourne's South Eastern Suburbs? I am currently looking at a warehouse for sale and it would be able to house a significant number of vehicles (maybe up to 20+). Doing some research it seems the going rate would be between $200-$250 p/month for secure storage. My question is, has anyone here paid for vehicle storage or is currently paying for vehicle storage? Have you considered it before? Do you know if there is much demand for something like this? Ideally I'd be looking to rent the space to a business, but.. I am considering multiple options at this stage. If it was club members only I'd consider putting a lift / small workshop in there that a group of us could use to work on their own S30Z's. Not sure I'd do that with Joe Public, liability / insurance / demand etc.. Anyway got any feedback on the idea?

Yep Jason is correct, I'm surprised you haven't had to replace the tail lamps? The US ones are red indicators where as JDM, EURO, AU, NZ etc.. have amber turn signals. You don't want to know what original koito lamps are worth! Good thing there is reproductions available now.

HS30 01427 is here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/15110-looking-for-some-advise-and-thoughts/?p=180647

Thanks Tony, I just replied to your PM, but since you posted the chassis number here: It looks like it's a late 71. Have a look here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/ Interestingly your car is sister cars with HS30 01428 which still exists. https://picasaweb.google.com/107400787026175995661/HS3001428?authkey=Gv1sRgCMzorJ-g3cbjuAE&feat=directlink It was compliance dated 10/70 - so likely your car was built a couple of month earlier than that. So your car may have been 918 Orange originally also? Does it look like that was it's original factory colour? The engine number in the sister car is L24-055813. I'm guessing your's might be: L24-055309 ? Pretty cool to find a sister car.
-
That's probably the engine number I'm going to guess. L24-5530975 but it's only a guess. It does, but it has the early hand throttle bracket. Which stopped around HS30 015XX range... The front upper rail / cowl air vent induction area is crumpled. If you compare this side. with the other side, you can quite clearly see 1 side is quite damaged. But the upper radiator support area, looks nothing like the factory upper support does.. All the trim pieces, gauges etc.. are actually quite cheap in the grand scheme of things. With a few exceptions mentioned earlier in this thread. All the value in these cars is in the bodywork.

Speak to Les Collins in Melbourne, there is an aftermarket electronic unit they use and recommend which is probably the best way to go.
-
Welcome what distributor do you want? Original points or electronic?
-
From what I can see, you'll need to sandblast the whole thing, whip off the rear 1/4 panels and maybe unstitch the roof also. Floor pans are toast, battery box is gone and front of the car looks like radiator support panel is not stock and evidence of a front-end hit. It's a 71 model correct? With the early hand throttle arrangement? In it's current state someone might wave $8k under your nose? Nothing that can't be fixed, but it will require a whole lotta love, I don't think leaving it outdoors has killed it. It didn't help but it wasn't perfect to begin with don't kid yourself. This is a long term project, maybe something you sink $10k each year into over the next 5-6 years... I don't know your full circumstance so hard to say if you should stick with it, but someone once told me anything worth doing is never easy. Do you know the chassis number? Since it's a 71 it would be good to add it to my records.

Which plenum?

It's like Mecca for a Datsun nut like me. Wonder if I should remove my shoes before entering the shrine? Just finished the read also, what a story. Glad he's bounced back.

I don't get it, are these reproductions or have they managed to get these via Nissan as NOS?

This 240K Coupe looks like a far better proposition than the rust bucket that sold for $3,500 recently. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/grays-point/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240k-coupe/1118858159 Price: $18.5k Location: South Sydney. -

I think the factory that makes those cheap plastic fender mirrors needs to be burnt to the ground . Not a fan of those. The car looks ok, I'd be interested in what it looked like before the fresh coat of paint. Price wise you can't really go wrong, considering it's not blistering with rust. It looks like it will need tidying up, but overall a good project car for $12k. You'd want to see it in person though, these things can often look very good in photos but in person paint may not be so great (especially at asking price). Also it may be mechanically neglected, so a test drive would reveal it's condition pretty quickly. It's not a factory colour, but it kind of works also. -
I agree low interest rates are forcing investors into other markets. Classic Cara being 1 of them. How long it can go on for I don't know? The S30Z as Jeff said is still cheap relatively speaking when looking at its contemporary peers. I am generally bullish on their values - although less so on real estate at this stage. When the Chinese get into the classic car market all bets are off and the Chinese are the largest set of speculators I know. The scary thing is not knowing when the ride will end and the cheap debt be readily available... Even newer cars like FD Rx7's, Honda NSX and Skyline GTRs R32-R34 have been growing in value lately. Money in the bank is as useful as tits on a bull at this stage. Japans negative interest rates is an interesting experiment to say the least.

Oh man, that colour.

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Did you buy it? $3,200 - I only ask because you liked the post so perhaps you got courageous and decided "how bad can it be?". LOL. *Edit see you replied before me. -
But the market has moved a lot in 2-3 years, when I bought #150 on eBay I was willing to go to $10K AUD+, after talking to Ledge who said "mate if you want an early 240z, be prepared to spend $10K". That was end of 2013 if I recall correctly, it ended up selling shy of $6k + towing etc.. The car in primer on Gumtree is nearly double that and hard to even determine what's missing based on the photos and yet it sold within 24 hours. Which just goes to show how fast the market has moved. A big part of my job is dealing with demanding clients, so I guess patience is something I have in spades. I have to otherwise I'd have been fired long ago .
