  1. Was that an R31? What motor was it running? Sounded like an L-series but I'm guessing it was an N/A RB30? Pretty sure it's a regular Z432 and not the R...
  2. Thanks Justin, I'll give them a try. I saw that last set in the Jauce.com link you sent, but it turns out that the auction is for 1 carb only. (Not the three in the photo). It's about ~$940 AUD before shipping / broker fee's for that option. I was offered another at $750 USD. But I'm still looking for a bargain . There is a set of Triples on eBay in the US for around $1,500 USD. Which are not a bad price really.
  3. That must be a very late 72 model. It even has the 73 style indicators. The chassis number indicates very early 73.
  4. Those links are from previous owners, the car was "unrestored" until it went to the UK with the new owner who did a bare metal paint job on it.
  5. Good little run about these are. I had an AE92 which was a lot of fun.
  6. HS30 00596 It was a good solid car before the repaint. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13903-i-bought-the-240z-hs30-00595-ex-kodie-car/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13052-1971-240z-matching-numbers-almost-like-new-hs30-00596/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12258-i-would-like-to-sell-my-240z/
  7. That black 260z was on posted here a little while ago. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/15101-1974-datsun-260z-for-sale/
  8. See post above yours, I just approved it.
  9. ...", that dust must have added $$$ to the price Gives it the genuine barn find "feel". .
  10. Still good buying at that price in my opinion. If someone really wants a nice 2+2 in original shape, options are limited. Cost of restoring such a car would be significantly higher too. But is there a market for an original collector 2+2? I'm sure there is, but how many buyers are looking right now?
  11. Didn't say, I suspect the latter...
  12. Yeah I know, but to be honest I'm not that surprised either.
  13. If anyone is still interested in the 260z 2+2 that was sold at the deceased estate auction in Benalla over the weekend. The buyer has contacted me (the club via club mail) to ask if we know anyone looking for such a car. I have the contact phone number/email.
  14. Not interested in buying it back? Nostalgia and all that?
  15. Sweet another 1 to add to the register. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/ From member Stavros. Christmas seems to always bring out S30Z's for sale.
  16. Does it matter than Nissan released the vehicle that way or that the car was fitted (from dealer) with wider wheels? Plenty of US 240z's had the wider peanut style alloy wheels fitted by dealers but were not "Nissan" parts per se..or part of the original spec. Would a Sports Option Catalog help? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13740-datsun-240z-260z-280z-sports-option-parts-catalog/ Problem is cars like the Z432-R (PS30-SB) or even Fairlady 240zg (HS30-H) vehicles is that they often had Topy steel wheels fitted as standard spec, since the expectation was that the race team would fit their own wheel of choice. Alan could speak to this more than I, as his knowledge on such things far exceeds my own.
  17. Craig thanks for the photos of your pair. Based on the Wolf Creek page. http://www.wolfcreekracing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=69:mikuni-carburetor-id-guide&catid=30 It looks like your set of 40's are the TYPE S5. Not sure why someone drilled holes in the jet cover? Maybe to inspect them at some point? Replacing the cover shouldn't be too hard.
  18. Sour Grapes... Why is this relevant? Well watch it... As our classic cars become more desirable, the opportunists will move in.
  19. In any auction you'll only ever get the second highest price, you'll never know what the top bidder was willing to pay.
  20. Yeah I thought it would go a bit higher than that. At least 25k but maybe the V8 put some puritans off? I think it was a good buy judging by the photos.
  21. A few have, but most are staying here from what I can gather.
  22. For comparison check out this 280z in the US. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14448-the-global-z-car-s30s130-market-thread/?p=185801 Let's hope the fed lifts interest rates a little soon, might cool down all the speculative demand around classic cars and property...
  23. https://www.mecum.com/lots/KD1216-266452/1977-datsun-280z/ 1977 DATSUN 280Z 5-Speed, Original Paint $42,000 USD for a 280z Must have been the right shade of beige....
  24. I tried to buy a warehouse in Melbourne recently, it was listed at $790k - $850k originally. I was prepared for 1.1M knowing the under-quoting going on in the industry... Anyway come day of the auction my mum was there in person to bid (as I'm in Sydney) and I'll never do a phone bid again - because there was so much I couldn't account for being over the phone. It started around 900k, shot up to 1.1M very quickly, then it was me and the other bidder. My original hard limit was 1.153M because you have to have a limit and I hate round numbers. We went all the way to 1.17M before I gave up, it sold at 1.175M. I'm still annoyed but it wasn't to be.
  25. Yeah 40mm . For those wondering 1.65 inch = 41.91 mm.
