Talking with some guys last night at the Jag club.

They were saying that they hadn't put any pics up yet of their Z's as they weren't happy with the cars state yet.

I did this too, but regret doing so.

As now there is no real before and after to fully appreciate how much work has gone into my car.

So I suggest to anyone holding back from uploading pics and info on their Z, to put it up warts and all!

Just my 2¢

Couldn't agree more, have a look at my link in my sig (The long), you see from the start to nearly the finish now and im so glad i did it.  It motivates you to do stuff to the car and reminds you of how far you have come.

When i first joined viczcar, there wasn't many threads in the members ride section, in terms of journals. Not even half a page of members ride. Currently there is 7 pages.

Thus i started my project journal there. But since then quite a substantial amount of members have created journals. It's a good thing too.

It is definitely worth documenting the project build. It is a great way to share ideas on certain fixes or remedies. I for one learnt a lot from the dearly missed warrenz. His journal provided a lot of ideas and provided inspiration for me at the time I started my project.

It's a great way of collaborating ideas as well. By posting updates, other members can comment, give advise and help out. I know for a fact that if it wasn't for this community, my zed would have just been a dream.

I also hinted above, it's also a great way to motivate other people in restoring their own diamond in the rough as well.

With the idea that it's not worthy of posting. It's not really about it's current state. It's more about the process of getting to your ideal goal. That, I believe, is worth capturing. The end result is but an end result. Why take photos of only the destination when you can also take photos of the journey to the destination?

I'm guilty of restoring a Z and not starting a build thread, I have hundred's of photos but decided not to post them because of the build time

I started late 2007 and the way it's going it'll be 2012 by the time its a car again.

That's the status of any car undergoing restoration, so you may as well post it up!  :D

99% of zeds have something wrong with them, especially those which require complete resto jobs, or ones which were unfinished projects, they will all have a dodgy repair job or something on them, take pride in where you've started, every Z has a story to tell.

Saying that, I'd better get off my butt and update my thread.  ::)

In my opinion - the 2+2 threads are a little overdone in the style grey UK 2+2 (Jay's)

But what the hell - i'm doing one too and now that i've just sold my 280zx club car - really looking forward to getting into this seriously. After two years (including selling the car and buying it back) - all the bits are there, thanks to several NZ and AUS Z-ers

Frankly - compared to some of the cars on this website, i'm a little embarrased - but what the hell, watch for my journal soon

My 2+2 was done way before Jays - but I agree everyone seems to use it as their model, I can see why though!

That's the whole point though, no good just posting up picks of the finished product.

I want to see the progression and you can get idea's from other peoples work.  ;)
