G'day Mark, mate don't know what picture your looking at but on my monitor it doesn't show a plug on the picture in the wanted sctn. The two switches I have are identical & came out of 76/260 Z's. How about I get matty to post another pic showing the complete unit.

                                    Regards; Alan.

Hey Alan, at the bottom of the picture go to the bottom and find the bar which you can right click and hold to scroll across the rest of the photo. It shows the plug on the other side.

Hi Mark, we can work it this way if your OK with it. Matty is happy to take the same switch so if it's alright with you can you contact him & send the  switch to him so he can reimburse you . Saves a bit of buggering about all round mate & thanks for the tip on scrolling wasn't aware of it.

                                                  Regards: Alan.

? I have a couple of switches but the prob is one has all the wires cut off and the other is the same as the top pic and the plug is different to the car harness. Fitting a new plug is no prob but the car harness has all black wires so mating them up is beyond me. There is provision for the clicker unit under the dash so that is not a prob. All I need to know is what coloured wires go to what black wires in the car harness. If I took it to a car sparkey he could probably fix it in a jiff but maybe someone here has already done it and can advise me. Thanks.

Sorry i don't understand the question.

The console wiring loom has ALL black wires and the connector is a different size to the one on the switch. Here lies the problem, What wires go where. My Switch is the one in the top pic which I got from e-bay from the states. the other switch I have has all the wires cut off it. So I need to know what colour wire goes to what black wire in the origanal console loom.

Oh you just need to replace your under dash wiring loom then. Dimitri has a tonne of them.

Ihad two but they all black and same conectors so the switch wont fit. ::)

The hazard switch plug only connects to its matching opposite, as all the plugs in that area of the loom differ in shape so colour coding isn't strictly req'd.

peter t your eBay switch will be USA spec, their wiring loom was more complex & lighting arrangement differed. Can you borrow a local spec switch from someone & use that as a guide to amend yours? The wires can be tracked at back of switch.

Thanks mate. Now does anyone have one [Aust} that I can borrow. The one I have from Aust has all the wires cut off it with no plug. ???

peter t,

Mine's installed on my car but I think I could pop it out & unplug it without too much drama, just don't want to have to remove the console as I've only just installed it which was a bit of a PITA! But if you get stuck then let me know, happy to help. I'm in Brisbane but north-side. My car is an early '74 that uses the square beige-coloured plug, the type you need to see I think.

I also have a spare switch from a '76 car which uses the rectangular white plug, by way of comparison.

Cheers, John

G'day Peter, best way I know to check is do the following, make up a test lamp if you don't already have one comprising a twelve volt globe with two wires. With your  hazard/switch in the off position cnct a wire from your test lamp to a known active /battery wire then cnct the other t/lamp wire to one of the hzrd wires then proceed to cnct a wire from a known earth to each of the other free wires on hzrd switch in turn. Basically what you are looking to do is identify one wire which does not light up when you use this method as the switch being open will not rcve supply & the other four are common/joined & therefor should light up t/lamp unless switch is faulty. Hope you can understand this mate if you have problems I suggest you just take your time & eventually you will sort it out using this method.

Hope this helps.                Regards: Alan.  :D
