Aust hill climb Bathurst

Well I only just open end an email and saw that our mate Kevin mackerel is coming to Bathurst for the hill climb in a month. As far as I'm aware there are still spots available, run over 3 days, Friday practice, sat and Sunday 3 runs per day. Should be some special cars there.

Damn, guess I am going to have to pony up for a set of super softs.

I am not in for a fight ok, but how does Kevin get away with having 6.6 litres, I thought events like these were always 6 ltr max. And why does he hide in 2a sports cars. I always thought you go nasty with alternative motors you have to go sports sedans. Anyone???

Phil, 2A is the sports cars equivlant of sports sedans. Eg: anything goes.

So really I should be in 2a. Is it a sports car cause it's only 2 doors?

It's funny cause I do well in whatever category they put me in, but no one has ever suggested 2a to me. The Bathurst boys I play with are always trying to peg me back in some way.

Anything on the 6.6 ltr bit. Cause I will build a ls3 stroked at 427cu if it is now race able. Read a story a while back in the "race" magazine about the daytona cobra, the destroked a ls7 (427 cu) to 6 litre so they could continue racing.

Unfortunately kev went home today with a busted motor, his first sighting run was a 48.5, second was 47.6. Then pop, that was on practice day. Did not comets today. I think he would have been a 45 at least.

On a brighter note.".....

I am currently 5th outright tin top with 48.7, awesome effort. Honestly think I have at least .5 of sec left, maybe a little more. Looking forward to tomorrow....

When you consider there is 2 v8 super cars (old ones), and two time attack cars, plus the usual quality vehicles I am damn proud of the effort will post a run later.

So what class are you in?

Your car is logbooked?

If not, youd be in "invited sports cars" with engine capacity

 

Kev would be in 2A as his car is CAMS logbooked as aa 2A sports, ie sports car highly modified.

Then there is 2B, sports car, very mild mods, then 2F stock standard prod sports.

 

Other sports car category, if a car is on a list, and is old enough, but still as produced by factory, with mild allowances,  is Historic Group S, and depending on year of manufacture, it has sub catagory Sa, Sb, Sc.

 

Good thing about so many classes, categories, engine sizes, just about everone is the "winner" of some trinket or award

Im in with sport sedans, CAMS advised me friday that they were logbooking me as 2a, i didnt think I was a chance anywhere to be honest, but damn I did good today. There is a few wallys amongst them here, people protesting here and there. Apparently they were up Kevin about his spoilers, another was whinging about a local young fella (who drives the wheels of a rx7) cause he was secs in front of others in his class so he must be cheating.

One bloke was up me for chirpin my wheels as I moved up. Far to serious for a $10 trophy I say.

I'm ok, carvis stuffed, hit the wall at about 160. I had my go pro going so I will upload later. Just didn't turn for the last corner. Funny thing is that I still crossed the line with a 49.1. After running the wall for 15m.
